As a guy who lives with several mental illnesses, the lyrics to this song have always hit home... this cover version does it so much justice and for all of the right reasons. Thank you guys. I miss you, Chester. I miss LP.

Aaron Lewis singing this tribute to Chester was incredible. Aaron has a genuine pain in his voice that made these lyrics hit home hard. Battling depression is an awful thing. It's like fuckin trying to breathe underwater. Overwhelming thoughts that you can't ever seem to get away from, self hatred, suicidal thoughts, etc. Fuck Depression!!!!!!
I feel you man every moment i just cherish moments like these listening to Aaron singing Chester's lyrics ppl say I'm emo fuck that shit I just have a bigger heart than most
Depression comes in many different forms... but they are all the same monster, just shaped to look different to some. I have lived with bipolar for 26 years now and it has taken a lot to not give in. I miss Chester, I miss Linkin Park. While I was not a huge fan, even as a casual one I can admit to missing him and them.
For me it was Linkin Park, Disturbed, some Staind, Theory of a Deadman, Adelina’s Way, 30 Seconds To Mars, MCR, and Shinedown. There were others but these were the main one. Many are still in my playlists today. This certainly hit me in nostalgic feels
Yeah that respectful crowd lmao.... first thing I see is a couple dead center in front with arms crossed not clapping and very upset look on their faces
Staind and LP helped me through a lot of trauma. Losing Chester hurt like hell. I’m so glad Aaron is where he is at today, and he performed these covers.
Aaron Lewis is one of the very very few I can tolerate singing Linkin Park's songs 🙂☺️ Let's face it, Linkin Park's music (and I mean all of them, not just Chester) is something special and out of this world and not everybody can make good covers to their songs 🎧
Have you ever heard an audience so quite and a live show! The love and respect for Chester runs deep man this was awsome im going to see him on Thursday I really hope he plays this cant even imagine the collective feelings running through that crowd
Very raw, very emotional. I can see the passion put on this by everyone. Most so by Aaron and Mike. God these two need to get together again, even if it is an EP! I love Johnny and Sal too. Would be great to get em all in. Just saying, if I had to, Aaron and Mike would do! RIP Chester. Love you man. Been listening to L.P. since the beginning. UPDATE - And to add to this. Everyone put their heart and soul into this. My original comment wasn't meant to put the others down for not being 'passionate enough.' Rather I meant it to be that Mike and Aaron still have so much chemistry being together that it is undeniable. EVERYONE put their heart and soul into this tribute!!!!
Man... I don't know why, but after knowing this song so many years, I'm only just now really HEARING the lyrics. So often on shitty mainstream songs about breakups or whatever, you always see comments like "Omg you can feel the pain in these words" and things like that. Why not this song? Why not Chester? Someone should have seen the emotional shape the man was in from his lyrics. 😞
Jace Carsonne well there are ppl out there without a billlion on the bank and millions of fans. And they also make their way out of it. Ure not getting well unless you decide that you wanna be.
If you listen to all of the music that Linkin Park put out, they made their living off of Chester's pain... My catch is: if his family and friends knew he was planning suicide why didn't SOMEONE try and get him some help, talk to him and let him know he was/is (now forever will) be loved or even gave him a hug?!?! He helped so many other people through their tough spot(s) in life, why didn't someone help him??? I guess I'll never know... #DepressionSucksAss
Jace Carsonne they did know. The music is what helped Chester cope. When they weren't working on music an he got into his own head is when he really had the issues
Tabitha Sanchez it's not even close to that simple. And he certainly didn't give anyone any indication that he was planning on killing himself. These aren't the kind of problems a hug or money can solve, not even close.
I agree, I struggle with depression every day, I've attempted suicide I don't know how many times, not only has Linkin Park's music helped me, but my (5) children have showed me a light that couldn't be put out... Yes, I still cope with my depression and I'm very greatful for the people that are behind me making sure I keep my medication going. I hope to be able get past this and be a "normal" person again... #RIPChester #DepressionSucks

This is the Aaron Lewis I miss. There aren't any fake country accents and lyrics. It's just him singing from the heart like he used to with Stained. Out of all the tributes I've seen this is my favorite one because it really seems genuine in a multitude of ways.
+I'm a Cat? Stop Lying ... LOL, AL is from Massachusetts and he was an alternative grunge singer long before he started singing country. Well thank God "Staind fans" know the truth, right? You're a straight up idiot. He lives in the hills of Massachusetts-in the middle of nowhere. Do you think there aren't any "country" parts of Massachusetts? He grew up in rural MA. His grandfather played country music to him growing up. Yes, he STARTED with Staind, but he now sings what *he* (please note the artist enjoys, not some grunged out middle ager) enjoys playing/singing country as well as music from other genres.
Aaron Lewis is the realest singer I know. The way he grabs you and you hear the words not the song. The way he speaks to you. His humbling attitude shows who he really is. Great song by a true artist
My little brother took his life late in 2020 and loved Aaron Lewis and I’ve always loved Godsmack. Something we both loved though was Park. Chester we loved you bro and seeing Sully and Aaron come together just has my knees week and balling like a baby. This really hit home for me and I thank you. I’m sure my little brother does as well. Reach out to your happy friends. They’re in more pain than we think. Bless y’all and stay safe.
What can be said that hasn't been already? Simply the most beautiful tribute done by the artist most appropriate for the task. I remember one of the first live Linkin Park songs you could purchase was on the KROQ 2001 Family Values CD, and the track was "One Step Closer with Aaron Lewis". They must have gotten close on that tour, because not only did he later appear on Reanimation, but on its definitive track KRWLNG, as its motifs are sprinkled throughout the album before it closes it out. That song has consistently remained my favorite piece of music of all time, since I first heard it the day I bought Reanimation that summer between middle and high school. Thank you Aaron, for allowing us to process the painful and confusing loss with you.
I was 14 when Stained first cut into ME, and then Linken Park ERUPTED who I was all the while 3Doors down was holding my hand. I'm here with you, I know your loss. It's real and it hurts. Take your time to cope
Linkin Park was my first rock band I began to listen to when I started playing music...this band brought sooo many good songs and memories along with audio slave sux to have these bands still would be playing at this time.
God Garou I i was too young and dumb and worried about other things I probably blew it on alcohol or weed. But I’ll never forget how real he was. During the concert he stopped it to put a guy to shame in front of everybody for groping a minor. I guess the guy was trying to be sneaky. He is a real ass dude and extremely humble. I used to work the green room for performers and he was by far the most humble.
I told myself i wasn't going to cry but here i am now I'm crying. This version is absolutely amazing and did the original justice so we'll. Miss you chester and thank you for all the songs you did that helped me get through the issues i went through when i was younger and are still going through R.I.P
This song is greatness. The Linkin Park version is hell of an amazing song, Rest In Peace Chester. Like just think, this could be the theme of Chester's funeral or ending credits in his life as tribute.

I’m going to see Aaron and Sully in a couple weeks...that’s our “family vacation” this year. I can’t wait to share the experience with my husband and teenage boys!
The back to back deaths of two of the all time greatest singers ever, and who made such an impact on me, was such a shock, but thank God we have the brilliance of their legacy .
Godsmack was always my favorite band, tied with Linkin Park, neither of them ever had a song I didn't like. Been a fan of Staind for a long time, too. Two legends paying a remarkable tribute to another legend. 2 1/2 years later and I still can't believe you're gone, Chester. We miss you.

I love that he was able to translate the song into a different genre in an effective way. Very emotional cover.
Thank you Aaron Lewis! RIP Chester
Still the only cover to this day that truly does this song justice.
Miss you every day Chester. 💔
Man these videos hurt my heart but what a great cover! R.I.P Chester
Reminiscing LP days , thanks Aaron Lewis thats one super cover!!
Aaron makes pain sound beautiful. Rip Chester.
a performance with feelings, the expression of respect and pain over the loss
Goosebumps the moment he started singing. RIP Chester 😭💔
Same
Same
Epic is all I have to say,Aaron Lewis maybe the best acoustic vocalist ever
+++
The pain of losing Chester will never go away
Tell me about it.
Never 😭
It will. Lose a parent it’s fine
Linkin Park was my first rock band I began to listen to when I started playing music...this band brought sooo many good songs and memories along with audio slave sux to have these bands still would be playing at this time.
After chester passed i never thought id get to see a linkin park concert this was close enough to bring a tear to my eye
Absolutely moving.... Aaron Lewis has an amazing voice....
His voice is unbelievable, went to their concert in the late 2000's this was the best live show ever, hands down
this is so good, Aaron is so damn talented these vocals are gold!
I was lucky to serve this man his food after his performance when I was 20. Even tho I had to stay professional, he gave me a $20 tip. Good man.
Jason Thomas I hope you kept those $20 as a relic man.
Dec 2019 and this still moves me to tears. We miss ya Chet.
It's 2022, and we still miss Chester. Thank you, LP for the good times.
I told myself i wasn't going to cry but here i am now I'm crying. This version is absolutely amazing and did the original justice so we'll. Miss you chester and thank you for all the songs you did that helped me get through the issues i went through when i was younger and are still going through R.I.P
This is why Aaron Lewis is one of my favorite singers. He can do no wrong.
Except that he's a racist bigot.
@@bhaskarville how is he a racist bigot?
That is extremely beautiful. His voices suits here just perfectly
This is a nice tribute, listening to him sing this made me sad tho..the emotion of the lyrics of the song. R.I.P. Chester, ur missed.
I didn't think Aaron was going to be able to pull this song off. I was so wrong. He nailed it, so much he brought tears to my eyes😢. R.i.p. Chester.
This song is greatness. The Linkin Park version is hell of an amazing song, Rest In Peace Chester. Like just think, this could be the theme of Chester's funeral or ending credits in his life as tribute.
I just realized this is a 360° video and I can turn around with my phone (or swipe the screen if I want to be lazy) and see the entire arena. Also, incredible tribute. Simply incredible.
Kim Hawkins Wow thanks for mentioning that. I thought the camera angles were a bid odd. Now I know why...😆
@@JB-qc1kj it threw me off at first, too! I kept getting upset that the camera kept panning to Aaron's feet. 🤣🤣🤣
We get that a lot, hope you enjoyed it.
@@TheVRSessions I loved it! I have only seen one other video like it but now that your comment reveals you have more 360° videos, I'm going to check your channel out further! Thank you for responding!
Oh shit I didnt even realize
God bless chester , god bless music and god bless all of us broken souls just trying to make our way through a world that wont have us.
Two of my favorite singers covering another of my favorites have I died and gone to heaven? Awesome tribute gentlemen. Aaron you always always make me feel the message of the songs you sing. I’d love to meet you and shake your hand you nail it every time. Sully reconsider retiring everyone needs Godsmack and what you bring to music. Thank you both Staind Godsmack have meant so much to me and to know the brotherhood of rock means something to you as much as it does your fans means a lot. Chester we love you and miss you and what you provided us in your all too short time on earth. Until we meet again RIP
It's 2022, and we still miss you Chester.
A truly beautiful rendition of this song. This song has always hit me deep. We truly lost a amazing soul that touched many of us so deeply Miss you Chester
I just love Aaron Lewis's voice, and Sully is awesome!! I've been fortunate to see Staind and Godsmack together and they put on an AWESOME performance!!
I’m going to see Aaron and Sully in a couple weeks...that’s our “family vacation” this year. I can’t wait to share the experience with my husband and teenage boys!
Although this was 7 years ago, how fucking good are Sully, Aaron and their musicians. RIP Chester.
That was hard to hear and not tear up singing along thinking of Chester singing those words. Linkin Park will forever be in my heart
A beautiful rendition of a amazing song. And what was said after the song was beautiful
It's a crime for this not to be on Spotify
Yes!!!!
They absolutely kill it. Only version I can listen to.
There Couldn’t be a better person to do a tribute to Chester. RIP
Beautiful tribute to Chester, may he rest in peace .
God bless Aaron Lewis!
🌬 Anyone else here in August 2020? Much respect for this beautiful tribute. 🎸
How did I not find this sooner idk, but I’m glad I did. 🙏🏽
September 2020...
@@diabolicalbozo393 too is here
The back to back deaths of two of the all time greatest singers ever, and who made such an impact on me, was such a shock, but thank God we have the brilliance of their legacy .
October 2020
Still miss Chester 2023. well done Aaron. Love Staind 4ever and LP :)
Every time I listen to this I'm deeply moved. Beautiful tribute
RIP Chester Bennington. Your voice was so iconic
Aaron Lewis can do no wrong! The voice penetrates my soul to the core!
Arron Lewis never ceases to amaze me
I am always in another realm when I hear sully or aaron sing...just fantastic artists..their voices crawl inside my soul
:) :) :)
When the frontman of Godsmack is your guitarist, you know you're a BEAST!
