I'm in my 30s now and just play in men's Leagues but this account has helped me improve as a player. Wish i had this coming up but glad its here now for younger players to improve themselves. Keep it up Matt!!
I haven't played soccer since i was 8 and i was a forward. Im 25 now and just got back into the sport as a left back, and its been tricky getting used to tactics and reasoning so these videos are perfect
if you play to you your center mid you shouldn’t just run to some place, you need to make a run where you know the defender comes with you to open up a a playing situation for your teammate and this should happen constantly.. don’t tryna hate just wanted to let you know. I‘m excited for the off-season videos coming up
These videos are great. I'm hoping my U9 players will be able to learn some of the decision making that you are able to articulate so well though these videos.
3:30 are you saying it is the center back’s job to step here? Is there a point when he can shoot so you step instead of backing up? If you step and they play wide, I’ve seen teams have the center back go wide rotating the wingback to the middle.
tactics wise, with your right foot, shouldnt your coach encourage you to act in attack like Cancelo e.g. move to middle rather than go flank and try to cross?Seems like the only valid option for lwb with right foot
Great analysis, overall not so bad. Like you said just need final product be a bit more efficient to get the difference. Continue doing great !! I have a really important question if you reply to me I would appreciate it !
Hey Matt, I am a huge supporter of you and I was just asking if you could make a full video about how to enter the flow state. I try during 80 day ( still trying ) but I don’t succeed. Maybe because I’m trying so hard anyway please respond me and bless be you for you determination 🎉.
I suspect that Matt rarely enters flow state in these games. He probably does in some of his practices, but the games are too stressful. The more fun you are having while also pushing yourself 100%, the more likely you are to achieve flow state.
Tough one playing left wing back. Hoping you can get back on the right hand side consistently, 100% you would've had better end product on some of those crosses with stronger foot.
Love to watch you play and your toughts def helped me take decisions on the pitch, but why do you play so many diferent positions? I tought pro clubs could have like 3 players per position like a sub reserve and starter. I'm not very into the pro scene so that's my doubt there. Anyways keep up matt would love to see you play here in Europe on a top division!
Matt is a versatile player, which is part of the reason that coaches like him. When there are injuries on his team or the coach sees a specific matchup for Matt, he can be put in and perform well. A dedicated player for a position will probably be better, but it is valuable to have the ability to play multiple positions.
I think you should take more risks in ur game...you play too by the book which is good for a defender but if you could add that to ur game it would take you up a notch
Why can't we say LM instead of LWB? Help me to understand. Is it a case where the roles are similar with a unique focus? For example, LWB would play a a more defensive roll with the LFB but can be neutral? And the LM having the flexibility to be more neutral but with a focus to support attack? Or are the terms just interchangeable?
Good question. I think that there are nuances. The wing back has a primary responsibility on the defensive line with the expectation that they will push forward on the attack. The outside midfielder sits deep but expects to have a player behind them, a fullback, who is more likely to stay as primarily defensive player. To me, an outside mid plays in a 4-4-2 or a 3-6-1 while a wing back plays in a 3-5-2 or a 4-3-3.
Yeah, you have the right idea! Left Midfield is a more attacking role... typically you're set in the midfield line both in the attack and in defense, but you might have to track back all the way defensively. Left Back is a more defensive role... you're set with the defensive line in defense and in build up, but you are usually given the flexibility to make overlapping runs in the attack. Left Wingback is a mix between the two. In defense, you're typically in line with your defensive line, but in build-up and attack you are in line with the midfield line.
Oh yea.Thats what I find myself doing most of the time. Holding the RM role to give my freedom to support the ST. While my CBs help me out when I'm multitasking.@@shantiescovedo4361
weren't too slow at 46min, you were late to open for the ball, and later when you get the ball your cross was little early, couple seconds delay would make a room for players to get into the box.
that first slide was definetly ball first man second, but that second tackle you said you thought was a foul was DEFINETLY too aggressive lmao. Weird ref!
Can't wait for the off season series to begin
same
Really valuable information. Please don’t stop doing these
Hope you’re going well Matt! Looking forward to the off-season series this year 💪🏽
Same bro

One thing this analysis highlighted was the importance of always getting a runner to the far post.

I want to live this kind of life
You have a solid left foot . Just believe in your ability . All the best for the next game.
In hindsight you could go for goal @1:58

Hey Matt, I live in Wisconsin and winters going to start soon and I’m wondering how I should train during the winter and snow.
Nice one 👍🏾
When its not a foul - it is. When it is a foul - it's not. Makes sense every time lolol

After almost 5 years of following his channel, finally I can see Sheldon replaces his Mercurial 😊

Love you Matt! Would you ever consider coming to play in South Africa?
At 1:56 would it be possible to just pin the ball into the net? The goalie was anticipating a cross and was a bit away.
not a foul, great tackle

Please make a video on winger analysis
true i need that
Matt do you recommend creatine for soccer players?

Good video
Random question, do most of the coaches on USL teams have a second job ?
i think they have something on the side as well yes
Always go for a low ball when you cross with weak foot
depends on the situation right?

Hi Coach, Yes, i am learn from your channel. I designed a training timer. Can i send you for trial test?

Should have taken the 1v1
please please score more goalsss plss
WW
Idol, please reply❤❤❤
First ❤
Why do they alway screw up the lineup, it can't be that hard. Especially at a pro level.
I think some teams give the inaccurate lineup on purpose because they want to be unpredictable for their opponents
First
Horrible call, that was your throw in on the slide tackle, ref needs glasses asap
true
Matt. You are overthinking your play. Play more on instinct and less with your head and things will happen.
Should have taken the 1v1
