@@alixmoya6241 I know this may be obvious but if you have firmware pwd turned on or time machine, or find my mac.... this thing can get stuck. Disk encryption is an sso actually that apple puts there to force people who use it to interface with the cloud. I dont think wifi driver boots in that environment so youd need to find a way to get ethernet hooked up to it. I am by no means an expert just work on mac support a little so I know a few trblshtng tips I have to rundown for Jamf EU's.

That’s the problem with apple products. They design them to fail at some point although they’re completely functional. At this point, an iPad is relatively feasible in price and does nearly the exact same things as a laptop unless you absolutely need it. I have a 2011 Mac Pro just sitting in my closet for these exact reasons and why I have not purchased any laptops…I simply use my iPad.

Hey at the 3:15 point instead of being able to continue it says a Firmware Update is Required with the option to ignore and continue at the bottom. Should I ignore or update the firmware? It states a APFS booting support system is needed in order to run Catalina and that I would need to install macOS 10.13 High Sierra first. Can I bypass this step?
It was going great until I got to the point where I had to downloaded it onto a flash drive. It didn't work on my first one so I went and bought a new one and it's still not working. I've been trying to get it to work for about 5 hours in total. It unmounts the flash drive from my computer and I've erased it in recalibrated it I don't know how many times, what do I do?
I'm trying to update a 2011 imac, but it won't open the patcher even after I change settings and click open anyway (it looks a little different to your screens). Any ideas to get past this stage please?
@@ebu632 no, i updated mine, and the only thing that got messed up was the recovery mode. But you can use in internet recovery mode. I used a different patcher if you want to know what it is. The one I used worked and it only took an hour.

You would have to change the WiFi card because the computer will not recognize the old version with a new operating system. The WiFi will still work but things like airdrop and handoff will not work. And also recovery mode. I don’t have recovery mode, but I just use the internet recovery which is the same thing.

I’ll admit I was skeptical. I have a mid 2011 iMac 27 with i7, 16 Mb ram, and a 250 Mb SSD running Sierra. I watched the video twice before I sat down in front of my hopeless old Mac dinosaur on July 13, 2023. I pulled up this video on my iPhone and took it slowly one step at a time. I have an ATT fiber optics 1000 MBS internet connection. 4 1/2 hours later and I’m running Catalina 10.15.7 just like it’s shown in the video. I don’t know yet if it will do more current OS upgrades like Ventura, but, it actually works. Just follow the video one step at a time. Thank you Prime Tech for such an awesome video that really works. I’ll be making a donation for an upgrade you could charge for.

Yeah right, this just takes you into the firmware restart loop. Don’t run this on your computer, try to download 10.13 first.

Go to you utility disc and change the hard drive name to APFS Volume if not erase it and then put in APFS Volume

iMac mid 2010 High Sierra up to Catalina that is work. I feel slow and backup iPhone date & time is wrong, but my right hand corner time is correct.
