😂😂😂 "christened by the Board of Directors of Bass" 😂😂😂 Really great explanation on the pinky. Very cool bass line to practice with. I am also practicing this with a pick as well.
Great tip, and it should help a number of players to reduce flying fingers or just un necessary fretting hand movement. For what it's worth, I adopted this technique from my own initiative when I first started playing bass, having already made use of it earlier as a guitarist.
Decades of playing/teaching and this is news to me: Index finger raking is supposed to feel more natural than the middle finger. I couldn't disagree more :) And that's why I like watching these videos to see other instructors' teaching styles and preferences.
Mark - really helpful video... thank you. It brings up a question related to a line that has stumped me forever. How do you do what I would think of as an 'ascending rake?' The line I mentioned is near the end of the verse in Paul Simon's 'Graceland.' If you listen to that you'll know what I'm talking about. It's driven me crazy for a long time. Any insight you might have would be greatly appreciated.
Mmm. The joint barring. It's something I started getting into a while back, and opens up many possibilities. If you're going to tackle any James Jamerson stuff or indeed many types of basslines, it's a necessity. Definitely not easy to be clean with it though; it takes some work.

In this lesson we're going to work and two areas of technique that will clean up your playing and add massively improved fluidity.
i play "money" and move up a step at a time then back down to warm up.

Good evening
If your technique LOOKS bad, you need to learn Photoshop.
