- How to plant, grow and care for Carnation Plant or Flower? Here in this video, I have provided complete details about how to grow carnation plant in pots with the updates of 120 day's. I started with transplanting seedlings and ended the video with lots of flowers and I hope you would enjoy the blooms. If you didn't know, Carnation is extremely popular as it lasts for many days and widely used as cut flowers. In most cases, they last up to 2-3 weeks and that's the best thing about Carnation.

I love these plants. I don't find this in nurseries nearby. I used to buy at Lalbagh flower show in Bangalore for rs10 (tall variety)a sapling. But due to pandemic there are no shows. You have a beautiful collection of flower plants.

Carnations are also great for the front-lawn/driveway (if you live in that sort of house). You might want to plant them there as well as your garden.

Mine have been growing for 193 and one out of two just started budding the other one has had stunted growth while the one with the bud has grown to over 2ft tall
The smaller one is around 5 inches tall

Small flowers - There are 1 reasons - 1. Problem with the variety 2. Lack of direct sunlight 3. Lack of Nutrients In most cases, 1 and 2 is the main issue.

Very good informative video ....How can we save these plants in summer?
So glad to know that you liked it Ma'am...we can save them in summer and for that 2 things needed to be done - 1. protect the plants from intense summer sunlight and 2. protecting from the rainfall. (nothing extra fancy works needed)
You would be glad to know that, few of my plants were blooming even in Summer too..but of course, size of the blooms was smaller because of high temperature. Thank you and TC :-)

You are most welcome Ma'am and thank you so much for watching my videos (I do recognize you as you have commented before in some of my previous videos) I can understand and definitely Summer temperature is high in Rajasthan. Here in my place, maximum temp goes up to 37 and they can tolerate 2-3 hours of Sunlight. But again, my place is not dry in Summer (quite humid area). In your place, it would be better to keep them in shady area. They are hardy plants and should survive, Good luck!

@javed .alam, So glad to know and thank you So much for the feedback :-) Yeah, they don't sale online and it's a good wholesale nursery in Assam. Anyway, I won't advise you the buy seedlings online as they won't survive..if possible, better to collect from nearby nurseries. Thank you :-)

@Revati Dinesh, Thank you very much for your words, appreciate it :-) There is a high chance that the plant would get damaged during transit time (From Guwhati to Kerela it would take sometime) Plus, it would be quite expensive as it's around Rs 300 for 1 KG via DTDC. Professional sellers get some discount though. So, it would be much better if you get the seeds online and I believe, it's available on SeedsnPots, Thank you for understanding!

Mine started taking off in May, by June 4 ft tall. Beautiful but the dear knock them over. Zone 7, very hot and dry summer. Now we have rain I need post to keep them up. Thinking when to cut down.

How do i get rid of pests??
@Evan, We need to use any insecticide or pesticide. For example, we can use Neem oil. Dose is - 5-7 ml Neem Oil + 4-5 ml light hand wash => Mix them in 1 liter water and spray once in 5-7 days. Please note, 1 teaspoon = 5ml. If Neem oil doesn't work, please try any other organic or chemical pesticide. For most of the chemical pesticides, using 1ml in 1 liter is fine. Thank you :-)
