measurement for this all depends on the style of the jeans, mens' womens, youths. infants will make a cute cell phone carrier. childrens. wide leg, boot cut, skinny jean- will probably not work well for this. it all depends on how wide you want your bag and how will you be using it. these will also make great grocery bags. the one in the video appears to be 33 to 34 cm's in height. Again, you can make it as tall as you want. The corner seams for the bottom are usually 3 inches or 7 cm's. Again...all depends on how wide you want it. 3 inches is about standard for a tote bag. i have seen too many tutorials where they cut they corners to make the bottom seam...remember where there is a seam, there is a stress point. There is no need to cut the corners. keeping the corners does add some bulk but it is at the bottom of the bag. when the corners are sewn you can just tack the corners up the side of the tote bag or tack it down. if you cut the corners, ON A UNLINED TOTE BAG, with usage and stress on the corners, the corners can open and your smaller items can spill out. By leaving the corners, if the corner seam/stitich opens, the corner will pop out and none of your items will falll out. If you are lining the bag you can cut the lining corners. if the seam opens your items will end up inside between the outer bag and the liner. i love that the handles are attached the length of the bag, AGAIN.. IT ALL DEPENDS ON HOW LONG YOU WANT YOUR HANDLES. WILL YOU USE IT FOR OVER THE SHOULDER OR LONGER FOR A CROSSBODY? I would make the side pockets a little wider and longer and I would reienforce the bottom. I would cut out a piece denim finish all the seams about 1 to 2 inches longer on all sides and I would sew this on to the bottom to make it a little stonger. i make full use of all my tote bags. by reinforcing the bottom you will also sew up the pockets on the bottom. if you leave them as is any smaller items will end up on the bottom of the bag causing the wear and tear on the bottom and it can tear at that point. As is this bag is nice especially for grocery bags because they are washable or any lighter weight items. if this will be your go to bag my advice will be to reinforce it without lining it or line it. either way great bag. Thank you. P.S.... you can make smaller bags using infant or childrens jeans, without handles, add a zipper and use them for you smaller items for your tote :)
