I would have figured that 5...h6 @2:50 probably seals Black's defeat. (On a historical note, the Encyclopedia of Chess Openings decades ago gave it as losing in the version with 0-0 instead of Nc3.)
@kaspachessofficial 2:50 WATCH OUT, Kaspa! You fell for an opening mistake. 5... h6 seems like it stops 6. Ng5 but it's actually part of a huge tactical motif that involves White castling Queenside, pawnstorming your kingside and sacrificing their Dark square Bishop on h6 which severely weakens your whole defense...the correct response is 5...Be7 which doubles down on the g5 square and develops a piece in tempo. Playing that 5...h6 opens yourself up to a huge trap with 6. dxe5. Now what are you going to do??? You'll most likely play 6...dxe5 and then White will stun you with a brilliant move (that has a 72% winrate)... 7. Bxf7+!! Both of Black's only responses from here are losing. 7...Kxf7 falls victim to 8. Nxe5+ Now a game called "try not to get mated or lose your queen on the next move" begins. Even if they don't play that trap... the motif I mentioned in the first paragraph leads to long positional struggle that you'll end up losing because of the structural weakness you voluntarily created in your pawn chain
Kaspa you really need to get this opening on Chessable before someone else does.its your idea at the moment, someone else will. Superb videos . Well done.
Kaspa, I play this opening versus 1.d4 until I figure out what they're doing, and it is surprisingly very strong and flexible against all 1.d4 openings ESPECIALLY the London... If they're playing Queen's Gambit setup I continue with Old Indian Defense setup, but if they make any type of London moves 2. Bf4, 2. Nf3 (or even the sneaky 2. Bg5 trying to force 2...h6 so they can tuck that London Bishop to g3 or h2 eventually) I'm on it: 1.d4 d6 2. Bf4 Nd7 (with plans to go g6, Bg7 and striking in the center with e5) Check the Masters' Database with that move order. Black has a high win % against a very low white win% or draw...that tells me that the opening tends to be decisive in favor of Black and not just playing for a draw.
@@marknieuweboer8099 I checked all the databases and engines, and I didn't find any name associated with it, except the Rat (Antal) Defense. Besides, both chess.com and Lichess don't seem to recognize this opening as the Lion. 😅 Never heard of such, but thanks for your contribution.
@@marknieuweboer8099 Bro... chill...first of all, you're wrong... 1) The opening you brought up is an A41 opening called the English Rat, and it's a 1.d4 defense based on 1...d6 -- I know this because I play this opening (A41) and have studied it in depth 2) The Lion defense, the Rat, and the Pirc defense all share B07 ECO code because they are built off ideas that already exist in the pirc defense...the Lion defense saves Nbd7 for move 3 whereas the Rat (antal) defense plays Nbd7 on move 2 exclusively. But they are specifically 1.e4 2.d4 defenses that are derivative of the Pirc Defense.
3) this is the reason why the Pirc defense isn't a system like ppl often think it is is because the Lion and Rat defenses bring specific flavors and problems that must be addressed by black that 1. e4 d6 2.d4 (or Nf3) Nf6 doesn't cover... and for both of these defenses it handles White's e5 way differently than the standard Pirc

Not with your elbow
But maybe with your eyebrows
nice one Friend!
This is actually called the Lion. Jerry van Rekom wrote a book about it back in 1997. So it's hardly new.
The Rat Defence is 1.d4 d6 2.c4 e5.

You obviously didn't google "Rat chess".
Equally obviously your hardly authorative sources didn't exist yet in 1997.
@marknieuweboer8099 I believe so. I will definitely check out.
