I absolutely love provide screen recording as a feedback with my language students (it makes the interaction more human and kind). It is very useful to solve technology problems and doubts, too. At this moment, I use an extension for Chrome called Screencastify. It works pretty well, as Screencastify does. Your videos are marvellous. Thanks!
Thank you very much Russell. This is great. It's what we actually need. What I like about it is that it is very easy and teachers can be creative while recording the lessons.
I put loads of videos on my website about Teaching online and they are very popular. You might find them useful. teachertrainingvideos.com/Zoom www.teachertrainingvideos.com/teaching_online
My C1 Tourism students recorded themselves, presenting something connected with travel and hospitality, because the technology is so simple to use. We then shared the various videos in class. I designated some students to ask a question or two about the presentation after watching, which initiated quite a lot of discussion. I love Screencast o matic.
That's great to know, Alison. You can combine something like Zoom with Google Earth - which would be great for your tourism students. Check out this tutorial on this idea: www.teachertrainingvideos.com/build_engagement_in_zoom or this on Google Earth: ruclips.net/video/ALiALb30b-w/видео.html
Thank you ever so much!!!- this is a great idea!!! Especially now that we teach on-line- I was thinking of using it as an oral feedback to my Sts writings- thank you for this alternative method indeed!!!
Really glad that my videos are helpful. I have some new stuff coming out very soon. It might be worth signing up to the newsletter on my website www.teachertrainingvideos.com/sign-up.
I love this idea, Russel, thanks for sharing. My husband, who is a native English speaker, recorded a description of one of our photos of a canal and a narrow boat to share with our students. I am sure they'll like it. They love it when he talks to them but at times they find it a bit difficult to understand so with the video they will be able to pause it and listen to John again and again.
Thanks. Many people not aware of screencast-o-matic, a nice simple recorder for using in online teaching. Flipping screencapture technology so that students use it is the key thing here, towards the end. More on teaching online here: ruclips.net/user/crete1987search?query=Teaching+Online
Hi Russell love all the videos you have put up over the years and I purchased Snagit last week and it's brilliant. With regards today's video are you aware that you can now record slides in the latest version of PowerPoint. You can record each slide and if you mess up just clear the slide and redo. Then save at the end as an mp4. Go to customise ribbon and tick the recording option and it will then appear.
I am going to look into that. I wasn't aware but I will check it out. I love Snagit, great tool and one I have been using for about 10 years now. I am glad my videos are useful.
Glad it was helpful, Luhia. Do check out Screencast-o-matic from the link shown in the video. Here's an earlier one I made on this tool: ruclips.net/video/xBepCJbNBTw/видео.html
Each time I wanted to upload a video on edmodo, it was impossible as video files are too big for that. Same thing for my students. So I have to upload them unlisted on RUclips or on my drive and give them the link. BTW students love this type of feedback! Thx for your video :)
Cathia, yes you are right. Try not to record your videos full size. Edmodo limits you to about 100 mb so I make my videos about half screen size, sometimes less and keep the time down of each video too.
Hi, oficinaip. The watermark comes with the free version. Once you've upgraded to a Deluxe plan or higher, the watermarks will automatically be removed in the video editor and for any subsequent video uploaded or saved to computer.
Hi Russell, findng your videos invaluable at the moment. so thank you. I am considering paying for either Snagit or Screencast-o-matic ... which would you recommend has the best pay for features?
I still like Snagit best. It is so reliable and I love the image capture features. www.teachertrainingvideos.com/snagit/introduction-to-snagit lots of useful videos here..all free
For Screencast-o-matic, you can quickly save to your Google Drive, which is linked to GMail. Save to the drive then grab or copy the link for an email.
Hi formacionap. Yes it currently costs $1.65 per month (or $18 p/y) to remove the watermark on the 'deluxe' version. screencast-o-matic.com/plans It is a lovely tool, though, and relatively inexpensive compared to others which offer similar functions.
Brilliant. This is exactly what I needed.
Glad to hear that, Jacqueline. Do check out my other videos on this theme: ruclips.net/user/crete1987search?query=Teaching+Online

How do you upload the video to Zoom? Can you send it to your students via Email? How? Thank you so much! I am a huge fan!
You can't upload videos into Zoom, you need to share the link to the video. More free Zoom videos here www.teachertrainingvideos.com/Zoom
Hi Russell! Great info here, is there any method / tip / hack to remove that screen-o-matic watermark? Thanks a lot

Sir it is a great video ,but I have one question how did you manage this " outer space image" behind your chair in the screen?
I do that using a tool called Camtasia www.teachertrainingvideos.com/greenscreen_in_camtasia
Thank you! It's amazing.
I am really glad I could help you. Thank you Gabriela
Great ideas! Can I save the video and send it in Gmail if I don't want to uploaded in RUclips or a platform?

@@ttvRussell thank you very much
Just tried it, great tool, what a pity the watermark and the 15' limit ... although 18/yr it's not very expensive
