Take compass. Keep one end on pt. 3 and other on pt. f on the circle's circumference. Then keep an end on vertical line 3 and cut the horizontal line by drawing arc. This is the procedure he followed. Although, if you meant to say that the distance isn't the actual distance but the shortest one, then yeah you are correct here. It would approximately be same.

We do not calculate the values in Engineering Drawing. It all has to be done without calculator. The way you have taken the length of circumference is not to be taken to practice under Engineering Drawing

Moses Dms you can take 8 or 12 parts.. it depends upon your.. and We Can take this part by the help of Protector.. if you choose the 8 part draw the you should 45 deg or if u like to choose 12 part then u can take 30 deg...

Taking arc from circle in compass for 8division in development did not cover the length of circumference 2πr..is this due to the arc length (curve) differs from the length unfold (straight) in surface development ?
