i heard they were manned helpers, when i 1st saw it i thought it was dpu, never seen it, but still cool to see on csx! thanks & i noticed trains are moving faster through their now, i was going to go catch the local a while back, he was hauling! heading to the yard behind lowes, they used to drag & the coal trains move pretty good now also, did they raise the speed?
Those aren't DPU's thats the road power to take the train south to Montgomery and then Mobile. The engines on the lead of this train will pull the train to South Alice, cut off and the train will depart south and they'll come back to Bessemer.
lol csx isnt nothing like rail fanning ns here, same old blue ac44s, no fast speeds, no UP KCS & other stuff all day & good routes lol, its ok sometimes, they are good sometimes. Boyles yard isnt a good place to rail fan at like irondale
Awesome catch!!!!

Good video, nice to see CSX for once here!
Cool Jeff, first time I've seen DPU's on the Mineral Sub. I knew it just a matter of time. Nice.
The two CW44AC's on the rear were manned pushers unless CSX has started to retrofit older CW44's and I hadn't heard?
two DPU and ES44AH CSXT nice shot.

no all of them are the same, just color, all engineers complain about those old d8s, especially from conrail, rough old and no good
