Love this run! Very, very well done. I loved playing this game when I was a kid, and I remember one summer when I was about 4 or 5, my dad, my two brothers, and I all worked together to beat this game. Took us the entire month of June to do it, so it's awesome to see this game beat in less time than a Saturday afternoon.
I love this game. Back in the late 80's and early 90's, my Mom broke her back so we could afford a NES and one of the first games we got was Star Tropics. We'd spend every Sunday, the entire family playing this game. This game wasn't just a game, it brought us closer together as a family and is one of the best fucking NES games I've ever played. I hate the fact Nintendo hasn't given it more love.

42:45 - Love how you guys were referencing the Scat Man song by Scatman John (may he RIP). When I heard that Scroll of OBOB chant, it reminded me more of the song "Surfin' Bird" by the Trashmen towards the middle of the song right after they yell "Surfin' Bird" and make a whole bunch of funky sound effects, and then they Scat-sing "bababababababababababababababa ooma mow mow baba oomow mow mow"
Startropics is one of the few games I've encountered that actually penalize you for unnecessarily killing enemies. Some room shave a single enemy that unlocks progress and killing any of the other enemies will fuck your score.
This is one of those games that could be revived successfully for Nintendo. It's so good! I know it would still be amazing if released again today updated for modern games.
swear to god when i was a kid, that fire tiki boss in chapter 3, was impossible for me. it took weeks and trading information with a teacher to figure it out.
Ah, good old Magma the Fierce. 😁😁 It's maddening for players new to this to pick up a bat, slingshot, and bolo only to realize like the yoyo they're all useless against him. 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
This audience is pretty quiet. I don't usually enjoy watching with mega hyped audiences but it is nice to hear an occasional chuckle or cheer or clap. Oh well, nice run!
I've actually killed the chicken walker on the space ship with just pure damage because I was always curious if you could do it or not. Yes, you can, yes it takes for fucking ever.

Well, the sequel bombed out in general, I think that's a big reason StarTropics hasn't really been appreciated.
