Pullman Zamzam Madinah - Walk to Masjid An Nabawi

We stayed at the fairly newly built 5 star Zamzam Pullman which is on the north side of the masjid Nabawi next to Jannatul Baqi. This is one of two newly built 5 star hotels on this side of the masjid, the other hotel being Coral Al Madinah and you can book both the hotels via the links below;

There are not many hotels on this side and hence you would find limited number of shops and restaurants, you can see the walk to nearby Bangladeshi and Pakistani restaurants from the hotel in the link below:

In terms of distance to the masjid, it is really close and to get o the mens entrance I would say it takes about 4-5 minutes in hotel from the hotel. The mens entrance is next to a door called “Bab-us-Salaam” which is the gate that you enter if you want to visit the Prophet’s grave.
But in the video, we are actually walking with female members of family and dropping them off to the closest womens entrance which is about 10-12 minutes walk. For the elderly and those with children, to walk to the womens entrance 5 times a day and back to the hotel can be quite exhausting although the hotel provides a free shuttle service (for women only) which runs every 30 minutes during the day and every hour during the night and makes drop to other side of masjid Nabawi and pick up from the same stop.
The main shopping centre, Taibah shopping centre and food places such as Hardees and KFC are located on the other side of the masjid on the south side and is a good 15 minutes walk each way. You do have the option to take a taxi back to the hotel and this can cost from 10-20 SAR (£2-£4) each way; but make sure you haggle as cab drivers will always start from the highest they can charge. You can take a short cut to the south side from the hotel via the masjid and this cuts the journey down to 5 minutes, but be aware that if you have shopping bags and food stuffs that you want to take back to the hotel, then the guards at the door will not allow you to walk through the masjid with it.
Overall, we liked the hotel as it was clean and had nice rooms although some rooms were very dark as it faced a wall. But other than that, it provides good value for money. This was our first experience staying on the north side and if we visit again, then our preference will not be to stay on this side purely for the reason of 1) proximity to womens entrance 2) proximity to restaurants 3) proximity to shopping areas.
