- ‘The Werewolf of Dublin’ is an animated short film that is heavily inspired by the visual style and narrative of 1940’s to 1950’s pulp horror comics and movies. The film centres around the negative aspects of living in Dublin. It follows James, a young post-graduate living in Dublin who works a tiring 9 to 5 in the city all the while, the narrative of a supposed werewolf haunting Dublin is permeating across the minds of the public.
This film draws a lot from the feeling of being out in Dublin after dark, and the tension that comes with trying to get home in the dark and not wanting to be out late. The film manifests this as the fear of not wanting to be assailed by the Werewolf that resides in the darker corners of the city.

seeing a werewolf standing in an alleyway like it's nothing is much scarier than you think.
Yea it’s so awkward when they don’t greet back
Are you saying this from experience
@@austincde "worst part was it all just hangn out swanglin danglin i saw a little dandruff flow in the midnight breeze" - Witness,
I love the way they stare down each other, almost in shock, almost in surprise. Like how a predator gets unexpectedly caught sneaking up to an unsuspecting prey and they lock eyes.
“Who let the werewolf in?” Interesting, seems people have a much more steadfast belief in this. Also implies that werewolves might be a people or a disease that should be quarantined.
We need more Irish werewolf representation in media
Considering that's where the legend of Werewolves originated from, I agree!
@@linkfan160 the first werewolf myth came from Greece. Look up king Lycaon.
@@linkfan160 Actually each culture has its own vertion of man turning into a wolf, or other animal
@@Simba436hyena men solo I’m not gonna lie
So Irish people still do the voice even in their final moments
They really do commit to the bit don't they?
"The film centres around the negative aspects of living in Dublin"
lmao yes finally a short film highlighting the famous werewolf epidemic in Dublin
Oh, the werewolf guy has a Xenomorph poster in his room! That's cute, I like that! :D
Ireland actually has a clan of werewolves called the werewolves of ossory. Maybe he's related to them.
a werewolf who mauls creeps hitting on women in dark alleyways? That's king shit right there
TRUE!!!!
In Irish folklore (or at least in certain parts), werewolves are protectors. So it makes sense.
But he was just being friendly! He said so himself, so it must be true, right?
He literally just said hi though, didn't follow them or comment about their looks. He was a bit annoyed to be brushed off but most people would be. Plus he was actively walking away from them. I love the concept but that wasn't exactly a good example of it
@@bookvee Maybe that werewolf can tell if someone is lying or not...
Love the tension in the scene where the guy turns and sees the werewolf. Absolutely horrifying. Very well done! c:
I really love the conversation between our werewolf man and his coworker friend. The Voice acting gives off a very casual vibe, subtle, and lax!!~
would have been funny if he would have been like "xsuse me u got some spare cash, i got a bus to catch" instead of killing the guy XD
"no cash"
"i've got cashapp"
would be interesting to see
Oh this is proper cool! Very fun style and Its always cool to have werewolf stories that focus on becoming such a social pariah beyond your own control. Makes for good fiction with more to say I think.
The werewolf:(^._.^) so uuuh, do you know where i can find a really good barber around here?
Very cool! The style is really stand out and the concept is intriguing! I like how it's focused on the person instead of what he becomes.
I loved this! I love hearing Irish accents and seeing the images of the Dublin bus in the setting for fantasy and horror. The Kirby dots were a great creative choice. Great work Connor.
As soon as he gripped his wrist like that when he got in the door, it was pretty obvious what was about to happen. This was super cool to watch, and the style and animation are absolutely beautiful!
I’d love to see a follow up to this, maybe going into the lore of how James became a werewolf
Not going to lie, I am intrigued. Well done.
Love how the use of old-school pulpy comics is used in the artstyle! With the way the colors are like, it also kinda reminds me of some old Giallo horror movies too! ^^
"jesus christ James, stop making so much noise! Don't you see what time it is?"
This looks so good! I love the style - very comic book-esque
I'd watch a full series of this.
You did fantastic job with this one! I got it recommended just now, and my congrats to you, because you have earned a subscriber!
stunning work... as others have said, the art style is gorgeous. congratulations!
Woman's voice in the end:
"James how many God damn times I told you not to howl in tha house! Go outside"
This is great! Love the graphic novel style
YOoo that must have taken so long to make! And its so cool!
Awesome work, i love it!
Good job with this one. Love the animated style and the different spin put on the character. My one gripe: it's too short! Love this short and hope we see more of this down the line.
(spoiler, but like, why would you read the comments *before* watching the video anyway??)
I love this, the artstyle is very interesting, and I like the choice of making *almost* every shadow into a pitch-black void, I think this emphasizes "the feeling of being out in Dublin after dark".
I'm not fully sure what the message is, or If there even is one.
All I know, is that the werewolf(aka James) here is...n't evil???
Anyway, like I said, not *too* sure.
Also, wait a second, aren't werewolves considered to be good in Ireland?
Like, didn't irish werewolves help and protect their families from harm in Irish folklore?
I wonder If there's a message here about how foreign influence might change a nation's beliefs about certain things, people, or even groups fo said people?
...very interesting...
Anyway, in conclusion, can't wait to see more! :)
**sigh**
Fine, you got me, I *do* think the werewolf is kinda hot, but It's not like I *asked* to be born Autistic, geez!
This looks really cool but James VC mumbling his line made it very difficult to understand what he was saying
Aside from that, seems like a very cool concept
Really great stuff. Fuggen loved it
Coming from twt to congratulate you bc this is awesome!
Awesome work mate❤
This looks GREAT!
This is fantastic!
This is great, I love to see animated horror!
that was really interesting and well made!
Fun fact, full moons are a Hollywood thing because it was easier to use a full moon as lighting during night shots
This is fantastic
I know it would be dangerous but sometimes I wish supernatural creatures like werewolves, vampires, and sea monsters existed
Woah this is so cool!
This was great!
oh love this, what a treat
Damn, this is like a cool trailer to a movie!
This reminds me a lot of Mike Mignola’s art style, the creator of Hellboy. His art is pretty cool, did you take inspiration from him? I like your art regardless
Very cool animation! It definitely conveys the atmosphere of Dublin at night.
Though I have to wonder how much the lad is spending on clothes in Penneys if he's ripping them off every time he transforms 😉
Very good!
2:32 Transformation!
need more of this :)
interesting if stilled style.
Cool!!!
raw
Can’t feel bad for the dude being a creep
There's something _unbearably sweet_ about "yer one." I dunno...
The werewolves of Irish folklore are far more peaceful than this short portrays them as.
Es una animación excelente. 🐺👍
I like this animation! Though I bet you someone who encounters his werewolf form would try to rizz him only to perish.
me fr fr
I meannn how else will you survive 😳
beats dying in bed
there's an episode of Gargoyles that's kinda similar to this titled "The hound of Alster"
Irish werewolf wristwatch
Need him... carnally...
Also your art is insanely cool!
This reminds me of the wolf among us
Just imagine jacksepticeye as a werewolf
I believe werewolvee in old Ireland were benevolent, trying to protect children.
I seem to also recall a story of one rescuing or saving a towns entire child population, the reward of which was.... TIME with a king. In his bedroom. alone. at night.
Just saying
irish werewolves feast exclusively on spice bags
Ah, the chosen "cursed" of my most beloved goddess.
Chill
Интересно...
Average day in Dublin
🐺
Werewolf has the proper reaction to seeing a guy creeping on women
I sew only potential and passion, iblove this animation
This is why I never talked to women. There might be a werewolf who gets the wrong idea about what my intentions are

Who DID let the werewolf in?
Well done. I want to see a sequel to this. How does he cope with home/family life while trying to hide his curse?
OwO, what's this?
Man the main character seems like a bit of a douche eve if he is a werewolf
I like how the werewolf is the good guy
I wanna be scared of werewolves but then e621 exists
erm... what the sigma?
But fear-boners are a thing.
Only clichés. Come up with something new.
Why does he have the Leon Kennedy hair💀
Amazing short btw
This was awesome!
