YES! My husband and I are gamers and love playing stuff like Minecraft with our 3 kids.
Sure, we don't play games anywhere near as much as we did when we were younger. But we still love it when we get a chance.
My parents were into games too (back when you had to go to actual ARCADES to play games 🤣), and when I was about 6, they bought me an NES. One of my earliest, happy memories is playing Duck Hunt with them.
Games aren't for everyone and it's ok if Ben's not into them, but for some of us it's definitely great family bonding time. For me, it's even really like a tradition.

After all this AI stuff, I am shocked that this is real. Also, his smile is so genuine and contagious as he plays. It's the most human I've ever seen him and i have a new found appreciation for Ben (even though this wasn't his choice). Btw, it's a sandbox game, so just think about what you can build. I recommend playing in creative just to get a feel for it. I know 6 months have passed but I am hopeful for a part 2. (Reminder on the monetary aspect here)

I like that Ben is starting to realize this. Before it really seemed like he was all about politics, but in all honesty, those politics aren't fulfilling, it's anger fuel. As a parent who was introduced to Minecraft by my kids and fell in love with it, I have to agree.
That said, Ben has way too strong of "I have to prove my manliness by never reconsidering my critique of things" energy to ever embrace that. I love the guy, but I think he'd prioritize maintaining his ostensible disdain for video games over playing them with his kids regularly.

Like they can't even deal with piraters of their actual game, let alone "offensive" mods. All I mean is, it's just a bit silly to knee-jerk respond with "oh haha it would get taken down" even in communities where that just wouldn't happen. My kids dragged me into minecraft so I could play with them, I love crafting games. I spent 3 or 4 days learning how to play and ended up teaching them how to farm and built a castle.

Exactly what happened to me: my kids begged me to buy it for the Xbox 360, and then I started playing it with them, and then when they went back to their mom's....yeah, I ended up building a castle, making a portal, and fighting zombie pigmen for days on end.😓
