YES! My husband and I are gamers and love playing stuff like Minecraft with our 3 kids. Sure, we don't play games anywhere near as much as we did when we were younger. But we still love it when we get a chance. My parents were into games too (back when you had to go to actual ARCADES to play games 🤣), and when I was about 6, they bought me an NES. One of my earliest, happy memories is playing Duck Hunt with them. Games aren't for everyone and it's ok if Ben's not into them, but for some of us it's definitely great family bonding time. For me, it's even really like a tradition.

I felt the same way about Minecraft as Ben clearly does in this video... Until i played it for a few hours... Now years later and thousands of gameplay hours under my belt... After all this AI stuff, I am shocked that this is real. Also, his smile is so genuine and contagious as he plays. It's the most human I've ever seen him and i have a new found appreciation for Ben (even though this wasn't his choice). Btw, it's a sandbox game, so just think about what you can build. I recommend playing in creative just to get a feel for it. I know 6 months have passed but I am hopeful for a part 2. (Reminder on the monetary aspect here)

I like that Ben is starting to realize this. Before it really seemed like he was all about politics, but in all honesty, those politics aren't fulfilling, it's anger fuel. The same ideas and debates we've gone through one thousand times aren't productive anymore(Unless someone finds new information). Spending time being angry, in contrast to having fun in the one life you get, is a large waste of time.

As a parent who was introduced to Minecraft by my kids and fell in love with it, I have to agree. That said, Ben has way too strong of "I have to prove my manliness by never reconsidering my critique of things" energy to ever embrace that. I love the guy, but I think he'd prioritize maintaining his ostensible disdain for video games over playing them with his kids regularly.

My kids dragged me into minecraft so I could play with them, I love crafting games. I spent 3 or 4 days learning how to play and ended up teaching them how to farm and built a castle.
Exactly what happened to me: my kids begged me to buy it for the Xbox 360, and then I started playing it with them, and then when they went back to their mom's....yeah, I ended up building a castle, making a portal, and fighting zombie pigmen for days on end.😓
Keep in mind about the kids content coming to the daily wire. This could be just testing the waters for something planned for it along side the other stuff who knows?
Ben, as a person who grew up with this game, I can confidently say this game was one of the greatest forces in developing my creativity as a child. This game is incredibly deep, and there are a million different ways to play. I would strongly urge you to really learn this game and introduce it to your children; make a world where you guys can work together to build something beautiful. Build a big castle or city, whatever you want, but think of a project that will take months. As a kid, to be able to do this with my dad would have meant the world for me. I cannot emphasize enough the positive impact this game had on me.
I would even venture to say that its the only game which actually has been not all negative for me- like shooters & fighting games are cool but this game actually builds creativity & goalsetting skills- you bring meaning into a world without it, its a great analogy for real life.
The redstone is also quite good at helping develop basic analytical skills, as long as you use Java Edition, the Bedrock version's redstone is a bit too unstable in comparison. Education Edition is also pretty neat.
Fast forward 10 years. Ben has retired due to his crippling addiction to mindcraft and gaming.

I like that Ben is starting to realize this. Before it really seemed like he was all about politics, but in all honesty, those politics aren't fulfilling, it's anger fuel. The same ideas and debates we've gone through one thousand times aren't productive anymore(Unless someone finds new information). Spending time being angry, in contrast to having fun in the one life you get, is a large waste of time.

My kids dragged me into minecraft so I could play with them, I love crafting games. I spent 3 or 4 days learning how to play and ended up teaching them how to farm and built a castle.

Ben, as a person who grew up with this game, I can confidently say this game was one of the greatest forces in developing my creativity as a child. This game is incredibly deep, and there are a million different ways to play. I would strongly urge you to really learn this game and introduce it to your children; make a world where you guys can work together to build something beautiful. Build a big castle or city, whatever you want, but think of a project that will take months. As a kid, to be able to do this with my dad would have meant the world for me. I cannot emphasize enough the positive impact this game had on me.
I would even venture to say that its the only game which actually has been not all negative for me- like shooters & fighting games are cool but this game actually builds creativity & goalsetting skills- you bring meaning into a world without it, its a great analogy for real life.
The redstone is also quite good at helping develop basic analytical skills, as long as you use Java Edition, the Bedrock version's redstone is a bit too unstable in comparison. Education Edition is also pretty neat.
As a man who loves Minecraft as well… it is his opinion at the end of the day :.(
