I've seen blades split 2 bullets, and you could take the edge back to almost perfection with 30 minutes sharpening by hand with a stone!
That's actually the good thing about high end kitchen knives. They are very hard and you can put a nice edge on them and have it last, at least if you know how to treat them. Bullets are not a part of my diet, so I don't need my knives to cut them.

@@spudgunn8695 no offense but if you had a good knife chip while cutting chops then either you need to work on your technique, you hit bone because you were not being careful, the meat was too frozen to be cutting, you were scraping the cutting board, you need a somewhat decent cutting board (bamboo is not a good cutting board for good knives), there was something wrong with the knife to begin with, you are using the wrong knife for the job or you are running into a few other user induced issues. I have been using Japanese carbon steel knives hardened to 61 to 64hrc exclusively every single day multiple times a day for a few years and have not had a single chip in any of my knives. The knives are not over hardened they are correctly hardened for the type of steel they are made with. Are they more prone to chipping than western knives that typically can only reach a hardness of 55 to 58hrc? Yes, when used incorrectly or if you have an accident they are more likely to chip. But that does not mean that they are over hardened. In fact the steel types like shirogami, aogami, vg10 and sg2 are meant to be harder to get a much sharper edge that lasts much longer and again this makes them more prone to chipping but it is typically not an issue if used correctly. Out of curiosity are you using either a chuka bocho aka a Japanese made Chinese style cleaver or a nakiri? If so they are not meant to be used for chopping like a western cleaver. The chuka bocho is supposed to be used like a thin chef's knife and the nakiri is meant for slicing vegetables. Both typically have the flat blade (some will have a belly for rock chopping) to ensure that there is even cutting edge to cutting board contact when using a push or pull cut.

not sure if this is correct but most of the time the really high end steel is more brittle but can get really sharp for longer i think so i guess that explains why theres a whole piece of the knife destroyed not sure if that would also happen to stainless steel and shitty metals as ive seen another vid where it didnt break as much.
This is probably because you associate high end knives with harder steel. Generally speaking harder steel is more brittle but can retain the edge better. But really high end steels with proper heat treatment can be very hard and also quite flexible and tough. Usually normal cooking knives are made from softer steel so they are easier to sharpen and hone
I really thought you were going to pull a fast one on us and take a bullet (not a loaded shell) and cut it in half with the knife using a baton. That would have been funny. Hope that finger heals up. You really shouldn't play with knives. lol

i think this has a bit to do with sharpness but alot more to do with the cross-section of how thick they are, then later for the us army 50cal for quality of steel
Gotta hand it to you, you really showed those trees who's boss!
Have you tried shooting one bullet against another? Once saw in war museum two bullets collide, would be interesting to replicate that :D
Kamikoto has done a great job of marketing OK kitchen knives.
question: when will we get a "cooking with Ziga" episode?
Wow they pulled the sponsor after they seen this amazing video
We were prepared to change the video a bit but essentially what threw us off is that they wanted us to show other brands of knives breaking but not theirs.
That's not how we roll...
@@PolenarTactical well they made the mistake not you
Just think of the meme products that could be made like tatical chef knife holster lol
Maybe another brand will be more accepting of the audience and your video style
Keep up the amazing work
Cant wait to see more
When will the Kamikoto muzzle device be available? That thing can make two bullets out of one!
Shit....after watching that video - ESPECIALLY the cutting montage - I definitely would want to buy some Kamikotos....
The pulling the paper over the edge was new...but GOD DAMMIT that knife must be sharp !!!
Heck, they broke after getting shot REPEATEDLY - see nothing wrong with that - AND they split bullets !!!
Excellent PR for Kamikoto in my opinion !
if they didn't act like fools and cancel the sponsor I would've bought some. those knives look good
Honestly, I'm impressed by the knives.
We were also impressed but then disappointed by their marketing practices
How is that NOT good Advertising. Great job. To bad you showed blood now youtube WILL demonatise it
not sure if this is correct but most of the time the really high end steel is more brittle but can get really sharp for longer i think so i guess that explains why theres a whole piece of the knife destroyed not sure if that would also happen to stainless steel and shitty metals as ive seen another vid where it didnt break as much.
@@PolenarTactical makes sense im not much into kitchen knifes i only like pocket knives :)
I'm surprised that knife didn't break on the slug.
Softer lead, wider blade support in the back.
@@onpsxmember
Oh ok. That makes sense.
Kamikoto was upset you threw knives at living trees and even chopped one... xD
You have some skill with a blade !!!
Oh no, you broke my dreams about being XXI century Witcher. How dare you. Now I lay and cry.
I think this was a great ad for Kamikoto. Intro was just sexy.
Kamikoto: We are a kitchen cutlery comp...
Ziga: Naaah, Bushcraft
Kamikoto: erm..soo a kitchen cutlery c...
Ziga: BUSHCRAFT KNIVES
Kamikoto: ...
Ziga: ...
Kamikoto: Kitch...
Ziga: BUSHCRAFT
I was pleasantly surprised by how well that cleaver endured the batoning :)
Love the video
Take care
I really thought you were going to pull a fast one on us and take a bullet (not a loaded shell) and cut it in half with the knife using a baton. That would have been funny. Hope that finger heals up. You really shouldn't play with knives. lol
Epic Video as always 🔥
If I ever invent something big, something that has the potential to change the world to a better place... you guys will be the first to get it^^
For "science"😉
And then the world will be a better place 🍻
Thanks
We won't disappoint and will immediately try to shoot it :)
Don't know why they'd be upset, they were shot with a gun, they held up pretty well. They are brittle because they are kitchen knives and they need to be hard to hold the edge through extended periods of use. They were sharp knives, I liked them.
It slices, it dices, and can be thrown. But Ziga! There's more!!!🎩♠🎯🏁🌸🏵💙💛🌻🇺🇸🍀
"I'm just a cook!"
You should try it with Proper Japanese sword! In old Japanese TV program, they tried with 45ACP and 50BMG out of M2. And sword withstand couple of pistol rounds and also 6 round of 50BMG!
Video is only in Japanese language tho.. Pistol: ruclips.net/video/fu8Z-su6168/видео.html
50BMG: ruclips.net/video/fOwPZ7P11-g/видео.html
The Floating Dragon Song 😂
They're knives aren't bulletproof????
Who'd have thought that a kitchen knife is bulletproof, seriously
I thought that they held up rather well under the circumstances
wow that woodcutng... pretty good knives.
I was surprised by how well they did. It's not shown in the video but i also did some batoning with them 😀
I expected the tail clip to end with the knife bouncing off and a girly scream.
Damn this looks like good advertising to me!
First couple of minutes I was sold on the knives
Dude I want some of their knives now...
They have ok knives but a bit overpriced. If you look around you can get better knives for a cheaper price.
For 200$ you could get a custom proper chef's knife
Good one !
Future video idea: Shoot knives at bullets.
I guess your superb slicing skills couldn't cut it for support from kamikoto.
I feel like this is best accompanied with ziga body pillows
Is this "Don't Do This At Home" the movie?
