I get it, but as mentioned any 1 and done playoff will function this way, and this is a game with the fewest games teams play. Every game is going to have consequences when you're playing just 12 regular season games. It's just the consequences can be more or less severe depending on the rest of the landscape.

NIU only played ND once and NIU won the sec
