  • Jim Nickerson interviews folk singer Burl Ives on the occasion of Ives' performance at Emens Auditorium on the campus of Ball State University. Ives discusses his career, travels to Israel, and the significance of the Christmas holiday.
    The Ball State University Historic Films and Videos collection provides online access to digitized videos and films that document significant developments and events, noteworthy scholarship, and student life throughout the institution's history.
    Significant events from Ball State history that are documented in this collection include inauguration and retirement ceremonies for important Ball State figures, groundbreakings and building dedications, and speeches by and interviews with notable campus visitors. Documentation of scholarship in this collection includes footage of interviews with and speeches by both Ball State and visiting scholars. Films and videos depicting campus life, including footage of sporting events, festivities, and campus scenes are also included.

    He was amazed that Rudolph was still running in 1978. He would be stunned to see it still running in 2022 and likely in 2023.

    I've been thinking a lot about Mr. Ives, off and on, and how his positive energy has impacted so many. He hasn't always had it made, by any stretch, but he had that light within him, and a way of cheering people up. RIP.

    all that stuff he was saying about christmas and the birth of Christ was a great little insight into the real wisdom and understanding he had. Not many people see these esoteric meanings behind scriptures that he was talking about. man I love this guy

      His tunes are always worthwhile. Burl was a fantastic actor, too. He was amazing in films like, The Big Country and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, among others.

    in the 50s & 60s , when left home alone , my dad had some albums of his , im surprised I didn't wear them out, many things to learn from his songs, mucho Talent , saw him live once , Beloit college , @ 1963 or so , I've seen very few artists I'm glad one was Burl !!!!
