I'm a HUGE fan of Camila's songwriting and voice, but girlie has a bad habit of rejecting some of her best songs/demos for no good reason. This song was Camila's mom (Sinu) favorite and then she gave it away. I know I am partial, but I love Camila's version of this song more and I wish she released it herself. Thanks for the reaction!

She rejected it because ACDC wanted 100% of the profits because her version infringed their copyright. The producers offered her a changed melody and she said no because I presume it didn't hit the same for her. So they offered it to Justin and he took it with the changed melody. Don't blame her tbh. She's very passionate about what she puts out and if it doesn't hit right or feel right she doesn't do it. It doesn't matter to her if someone else goes and make a hit with that song.shes trying to create a feeling or story or whatever and if it doesn't fit it doesn't fit. That's what you call a proper artist. They all do that
i heard it was her song originally but it infringed AC/DC's copyright with her melody. they were asking for 100% profits unless they changed the melody. so they changed the melody to justin's version and camila didn't like it as much. so she sold it to justin, who did it with the changed melody. i kinda agree with her though. her melody is miles better imo, especially at the end... WOW

Camila has this skill that she can make her voice naturally sound like autotune and is super impressive when she does it live. I remember she used to pull it off amazingly in her Never be the same performances,

If you love Camila’s voice you need to hear her live performances in the Grammy’s “Consequences, Living Proof, also in an award show and the performance on the Ellen Show.” She also has a live Apple concert if her Romance album in which she tells you what the songs are about. She’s phenomenal live. I personally feel she sounds better if that makes sense!

being a fan of both of them i don’t really care who sings the song lol. i’ll just listen to the edited version of both of them on the track 🤷🏻♀️ it’s a hit whether either of them sings it. it just shows how one song can relate to a guy or a girl (or my enbys) and that’s so powerful. camila is a genius for writing this.

it is possible to sell your writing credits. once you do that, you essentially become a ghost writer
Harry styles co wrote obvious from Ariana Grande and he sold his part so he is basically a ghost writer like he’s name doesn’t even appear and we all know he was part of the song because a producer of Ariana said it

React to “The Middle” Camila’s Version. She was supposed to be the original singer after Demi Lovato rejected it.

Alright, let me bring some light into this track because it seems like a lot of the people here in the comments are just lost or are straight up making assumptions and stating them as facts.
1. This song was NOT written by Camila. This was originally written by singer-songwriter and producer Jon Bellion. I'm not sure if he wrote this specifically for Camila but he offered the song to her and she made a demo for it. It actually almost made it into her Sophomore album "Romance", hence why the production was finished, but then discarded it later for "My Oh My." Due to the track being scrapped off the album, the song was once again up for grabs and that's how the song landed with Justin.
2. So, if Camila didn't write the song, why does Justin have credit as a songwriter when the lyrics are the same? Halsey actually made a statement regarding how the industry nowadays have a different standard as to who gets credited towards a song. Basically, one doesn't have to write lyrics in order to be credited, they can come up with an adlib, a harmony, a different vocal rhythm, etc... and they will be on the songwriter credits if their suggestion or input makes it into the finished product.
3. If you guys look back into an interview where she mentioned this song, she actually says "there's this song that I SANG called Anyone" (paraphrased); she didn't say she wrote it.
Note: I am a Camilizer so this is not coming from a place of hate. I just wanted to educate some people on here and debunk their assumptions.
Actually Camila co wrote it with Jon Bellion, in an interview Camila said she wrote 2 songs with him and only 1 made it on her album. She gave this one away to justin bieber and most likely sold her writing credits.
@@nailah5880 Jon Bellion is credited on not one, but two songs: Shameless and Liar. Meaning he had a hand the process of both songs. How much? I don’t really know. Now, regarding this interview, I don’t think i have seen it. it would be great if you could provide a link or something so that i could listen to it as well :)

She definitely should’ve released this and not sold it… apparently this song was pulled off the album last minute in favor of “My Oh My” which ended up being a single that charted pretty well. I believe that this song should not have been given to Justin, he did a beautiful job tho but the reason why i said that it shouldn’t be given to him is because we know Camila wrote it and just listening to the lyrics and everything about this song it just feels like a song she really connected with and it just seems like one of those personal songs of hers. Its like she wrote it out of her own experience and meant every word. She sings it with so much beautiful emotions and passion.
