Beno you are true inspiration. I started watching dieselducy's videos extremely in depth videos of elevators but after I saw your awesome simple lift tours I new I could pursue my hobby of elevator photography When I watch your videos I'm 1. Impressed that you go out of your way to find lifts in your area that are very risky to ride (like that fireman one, gotta have major melons to do that. 2. You find a substantial amount of lifts in lift tours. 3. Your video variety 4. Finally, your just plain charming personality All the greetings from the USA Vator hunters
the old lifts I call them Vampire lifts since one of my first exposure to an old otis was in a Vampire movie as a small child where the lift door opened on a Basement Level and a Vampire was trying to Charge into the lift and the Close door was taking forever to respond. a Long time ago i used to be afraid of These lifts for that reason i.e. if the building is old enough to have such old lifts it is old enough to be infested with vampires goons ghosts or whatever
all the damn amazing OTIS with touch-sensitive OTIS Lexan fixtures have gone, NOO! What an unpleasant modernisation! Also I am so unbelieveably cross that typical 70s style OTIS touch-sensitive buttons lifts have been turned into lifts symbolising the opposite of what the 1970s are known as: From freedom towards UTMOST security hysteria. I cant believe it! Anyways, nice and entertaining video, too bad people have been in the motor room :(
The round and square touch-sensitive buttons bothe were launched in 1963, not the 1970ies. The technology (tubes) was introduced by Otis in the 1950ies with the Autotronic elevators. The buttons sometimes had problems with self-ignition at higher humidity in the air. Although stated differently on YT, they were not sensitive to heat. In case of fire they may be activated by dense fog and particulate matter in the air as this would change the electrical conductivity and thereby cause a "ground connection". (Same that would happen when you would touch a button and a circuit to ground is made via your body.) The principle is not comparable to touch-sensitive screens by any means. I'm planning to do a demonstration-video on real Otis-fixtures this year.
ELEVATORMUSEUM very interesting fact many people so as I dont know about! It would be nice to see that being explained in one of your videos. I am really interested in how this technology works and what exactly makes the buttons recognise a call.
Just got two power-supplies that are suitable for a test. The tubes need two currencies at the same time: 135V DC and 150V AC. I'm very excited to see whether I can bring them to work properly on "lab-scale". If it works, I'd like to apply heat and steam in order to check sensitivity to the specific conditions occuring during a fire. (Not sure yet how I will do.)
2:00 because nobody cares about how the lifts look or what brand and/or features it has, the only thing people care about is that they work. Except all of us in the community :P
first lift has been vandalized. speed is the best part. second lifts are very strange. fourth lift is very boring. x ray lift is the boss. lift at 7:02 is bit noisy too. lift 29 (their number) sounds neat. very important motors hide behind TWO doors. their lift motors are music :)
It is so they have a vacant lift in case a patient having a cardiac arrest/heat attack so they don’t have to wait for a busy regular lift which could delay their journey to the heart attack unit
Please note that these lifts are not for unaccompanied public or staff use. The lifts are centrally controlled and are used for inpatients being moved by Portiering staff or goods transport only. Can you please use the other lifts SO RUDE! I Would'nt See this Thing. AGAIN! If I Invented A Time Machine, You Could Ride These Old Otis Lifts.
4:19 horrible lift and why does it have A hum in the lift?! AND WHY IS IT A VERY HORRIBLE LIFT?! BECAUSE IT HAS A HORRIBLE MOTOR & A HORRIBLE HUM! I DON'T KNOW WHY THIS LIFT HAS A HORRIBLE HUM! I HATE HUMMING LIFTS! I AM NOT TELLING FIBS IT'S ACTUALLY THE TRUTH! AND AT 2:54 WHY DID THEY HAVE TO MODERNISE THE LIFT AND WHY DID THE SECURITY GUARD SAY YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO RIDE THOSE LIFTS?! HOW MEAN!

i love old lifts
Are the old Otises still there?
this video aged so well that it is a 1080p quality
1:50 you should've asked the owners if you could have the buttons because there isn't very many of these touch sensitive buttons left
00:00:09 It's Lift Tour Time!
theres a old otis lift at sears at oakville shopping center
That's not in the UK, where Beno lives.

Actually, Otis first made touch sensitive elevator buttons in 1948, according to a vintage Otis ad.
3:39 - 3:44
Typical Dewhurst indicator in SG HDB blocks.
When you went to the first lift it had a nice voice
The first lift has the Thames Valley maintenance control voice
@@benolifts What Is This Hospital?
@Liam Johnson YEAAAS
I seen a touch sensitive thyssen in Barcelona but forgot to film! So annoyed!
They modernised the old Otis and install stupid generics because they don't know what lifts are!
Where is this?
how did you manage to ride the firemans lifts but not the bed lifts like why wasn't security repetedly press G like in the bed lift?
Theres no camera in the fireman's lift

4:51 Agree
America have a lot of old Otis touch Buttons lifts
As well as a lot of Dover impulse
Eg. 2 Dover impulses at the market parking garage in Roanoke
I felt bad for you how the security didn’t let you ride the lift. If I was the security then I would let you ride the lift
How can they even mod a 1970's Otis into a piece of crap
Benobve, Does TTC T1's Are Totally Crap or Awsome!
if someone had a cardiac arrest though :(
you shouldve came here in early 2013 or 2008/2009/2010/2011/2012.

Cardiac Arrest Lift? What's Next, A Cancer Lift? A Heart Attack Lift?
It is so they have a vacant lift in case a patient having a cardiac arrest/heat attack so they don’t have to wait for a busy regular lift which could delay their journey to the heart attack unit
