For all my fellow Radiology colleagues who loved surgery or ortho and ended in Radiology.......I suggest u become and interventional radiologist .....the recent era of interventional radiologist diagnose, admit and treat patients on their own including stroke Thrombolysis and thrombectomy......I am an interventional radiologist myself and we manage all patients admitted under us ourselves ..... If a clinical colleague can learn ur skills ....u being a topper can also learn medical management in matter of few weeks ......be brave to take the extra yard .... Radiology is a beautiful branch and it wil always grow higher and higher

I am german and male, got my training here, I'm a specialist in radiology, also did interventional radiology (here radiologists can't be plain diagnostic or interventional, you have to do both in your training) when I got my training at a university medical center. There I also was working together closely with other colleagues, doing boards and so on and having 50 or 60 patient contacts a day. But I was completely done with all this hassle. Now I am working in a doctors office that I don't own and don't have to worry about financial stuff but I can talk to patients whenever I feel like it and help them. I can do my job while watching youtube or listening to music, can just do other things for an hour and my salary is somehow 1.3 crore INR a year (before taxes) after conversion. I'm sorry for being direct sir, but you should have chosen your career by passion and not by opportunity, this will never work or leave you with regret or frustration - I joined radiology since I loved analytical medicine and working with technical devices since I was 13 or so.
Oh and btw, in Germany you actually have to write a thesis, mine went to European Radiology as a paper, to call yourself "Doctor". Also something that I was glad I could do after graduating not being bothered with wasting everyones time doing rounds.

Having said that radiology is not a easy branch , you have to be accurate with your findings especially USG
Also its MD ,MS,DM and mch who are reading your report

For those who wonder ke radiologist kya hi kamata hoga so let me tell you my uncle is a radiologist and his daily opd is 100 and the cost of ultrasound is 700 per person so 700x100= 70000 and in a month it’s whopping 21 lakhs so dekhlo bhai paise aur sukoon chahiye ya roz aadhi raat ko uthkr neend haraam krni hai but if your passion is surgery or other branch then just go for it it’s completely worth everything passion ke aage sb fail❤️

Interventional radio is just hype. Look at US which has made IR the dumpster of procedures. Since IR is very referral dependent, all the good procedures get taken up by vascular surgeons, interventional cardio or neurosurgeons. What's left are mundane procedures like biopsy, abscess drainage, paracentesis, LP, etc. There is a whole drama within IR in the US trying to separate from DR and become an independent branch which is practically impossible since they don't own any patients.

Everyone said that in the initial days the salary of a Radiologist is pretty good but I want to know how the growth in this specialisation in terms of monetary factor, if someone doesn't set up his/her own setup and continues to work in private hospitals? Can Radiologists also earn 7-8 or even 10 lacs per month like orthopaedics and neurosurgeons in later stages by just doing jobs in Pvt hospitals?

    • @JayendraPatel-zv1ro

They can earn upto 7 to 10 lakhs after some years and then it will be difficult for them growth unless they open uptheir own setup eith but no feelings like doctor is a fact.orthopedics, gynec, pediatrician, surgery, medicine,Ent,opthamologist dermatologist etc have direct contact with patients they have a bondage with patients and feel satisfaction after the recovery of patients. It is nowhere found in Radiology field.

Interventional radio is just hype and I'm really very disappointed about the IR drama, since I was seriously looking at the field. The other doctors have made IR the dumpster of procedures.
I guess you would make a video about it more honestly like Sarel Gaur MD does in his channel. We, medical students, are really in need of the actual truth before considering the field rather than going into the branch and regretting later, writing up a bunch of articles about how the private practice IR(where 90% of IRs work) is pretty unfulfilling and dissatisfying.
