I think the writers made it that way. That Shawn would never have security forever. That anything he has good, would suddenly leave. That's why he said 'Goodbye Angela' when she told him not to. He knew that once Angela walked out that door, she wasn't coming back. As for GMW, it's the typical kind of Disney show. That's why it's not as good. BMW was an amazing show, talked about real life issues, targeted at teenagers coming of age, and even adults could watch it because it was good. GMW, was Disneyfied. I'm not against Katy. Maybe it was just meant to be. Maybe Shawngela wasn't meant to be forever. But they'd always be first love. They taught each other how to love. They taught each other how to hold someone you love close and tight, because if they leave, everything would go wrong. Shawn and Angela were soulmates. It's okay though, Shawn's happy, Angela's happy. Maybe they'd end up together in the future.

And to me that episode showcases just how one sided that friendship is. Corey literally says that Shawn is the screwup and shouldn’t be succeeding in life! Corey didn’t deserve a friend like Shawn!
