Maestro Abbado must've loved these Nocturnes; this is a beautiful performance, every bit the equal of the Van Beinum/Concertgebouw recording. I slightly prefer his performances of them at Boston and Lucerne, but these will do. I do think the chorus is too close to the microphones here.
