The kid in this (Jacob tremblay) is a great actor. I think he won some awards for this performance at a very young age too. What's funny is that he came out in a movie called "Good Boys" (2019) produce by Seth rogan and Evan Goldberg (same dudes who produced superbad) it's a comedy movie that the kid stars in and people were surprised to see him in a comedy because he mostly did drama movies so people were like "oh wow this is different for him" lol.
@@TheMikeLawz yeah. I never seen it but always wanted to watch but kinda forgot about it lol. But I remember the trailer and it looks funny. Probably watch it through your reaction lol.
@@TheMikeLawz so funny, it’s like those old comedies that don’t have too much of a plot, jus friends doing shit throughout the movie and it’s great, alla the kids did great
As to the whole "You could kill him while hes sleeping", in the book she did try escaping but hitting him with the toilet lid but he broke her arm (which never properly healed) plus since she now has Jack shes afraid of him getting hurt.
If she killed old nick in his sleep, she doesn't know the code, and no one can hear them in there so they're just stuck in a shed with a dead body forever
Brie Larson was phenomenal in this film. The way she portrayed a helpless mother caring for a sickly young boy turned into a strong and independent woman fighting against her captor is some major character development. Brie’s character has been trapped in that ‘Room’ for God knows how long. So much of her character’s life had been ruthlessly taken away, and it’s something that’s completely devastating and very frustrating all at the same time. Mike Lawz’s reactions/commentaries are always something to look forward to. He’s known for his great insights.
I remember, I stayed up all night that year in Germany until I got the news that she won tha academy award. 😅 I was THAT invested. It was also one of the VERY rare occasions where I managed to watch the movie before the awards happened.
I actually think Brie Larson did a really good job I kind of wanted her to be a little more emotional but I agree with you 100% about her parents I can only imagine what they went through but can you imagine what she went through! She was kidnapped when she was 17 raped repeatedly had a child by herself and the only reason she got out was because she pretended her son was dead. I couldn't imagine giving birth alone like that without any medical or anything.
Yeah this is a tear jerker 🥲the kid actor got me every time there was an emotional heartfelt scene and Brie Larson was incredible 👍Mike if you don’t cry at one of the scenes I will be surprised 😂I was surprised I cried definitely a good movie
Such a sad movie considering this has happened to women and continues too all around the world. It’s horrible And how scared the boy is also is really sad because he has no understanding on how the world works so he he’s rightfully scared and confused over the things she has to tell him.
Actually in the book it’s Jack who comes up with the nickname, because he saw a movie or show on TV (can’t remember exactly) about a man named Old Nick who came in the night. But yes, it is slang for the devil.
It's unfortunate that someone told you this was similar to Girl in the Basement. That was kind of a spoiler. When I watched this movie I went into it not knowing anything, so slowly finding out what the "room" actually was made this movie much more powerful. The ending scene where Jack is saying goodbye to everything is another really powerful moment, because for him it was his only home. Kinda sad that you didn't find it as moving, but that's ok I guess. For me it's one of the best movies I've ever watched. *One more side note: I think Brie's character was perfect. She seemed severely depressed because she missed most of her young years locked up and r*ped repeatedly. If it was me and I was finally rescued from all of that, I would not be jumping for joy. That kind of trauma is too severe to just get over it so quickly.
I think just brutal graphics, intense violence & dialogue is what makes it rated R. This movie was insane but agree that the justice system in America does take a long time. Especially to get evidence when someone is innocent after being accused of something they didn't do
I completely agree with you, and just want to add that I think the underlying themes of the film contribute as well. It is just slightly toned down because we are supposed to be seeing it from a child's perspective. Trigger warning: Since the mom is SA'd as a child essentially and throughout her life by him, as well as the attempt at ending her own life. The overall mature subject matter, I think is what gave it the rating it got.
It’s time to watch the Cleveland Abductions I guess It’s a lifetime movie based on true events (which i think you’ve consistently enjoyed so far) and it’s a good mix of the fast paced events of a kidnapping while being respectful to the victims imo. Really showed their strong will
ROOM!!! one of my favourite movies. i absolutely love brie and jacob tremblay is a PHENOMENAL kid actor. i love all his films! he played Luca, he's going to be Flounder in the new Little Mermaid, and i really hope you watch Good Boys, he's absolutely adorable and a total comedian in it. brie's performance of the victims spiral back in the outside world gets me every time.
I personally love this film however, I know it is not for everyone. While I like movies most people like, I mostly prefer slower-paced and indie films. Except for horror films which are usually fast-paced XD. I think psychological horror films are some of my favorites; the ones that focus on or mirror the horrors caused by humanity. I know I'm in the minority who don't mind films being slower, though. I just appreciate that you gave it a chance and watched it at all, and that you can still recognize how good of a film it is, even though it is not your, "cup of tea." It was inspired by the same story as the Girl in the Basement but wanted to focus more on the psychological aspect of being captured instead of the violent aspect. Also, they wanted to focus on it being told from a child's perspective, which I think they pulled off really well. Even though it's a terrible event they purposefully tried to slowly explain the situation to us as if we were a child in that situation having to learn everything at a slower pace. I definitely was bawling my eyes out when I first watched this film, you are always as strong as a rock. XD But I appreciate that you can see films from different perspectives and whether you like of dislike a film I love I always love hearing your opinion on it! =^_^= As for a recommendation I would love to see you react to Parasite (2019) I think you will like the story and the pacing =^_^=
I watched this movie because I watched your Girl in the Basement but I got so bored after they left. I expected it to be more brutal like the previous movie. It wasn’t thrilling but very very emotional. The kid who played Jack is phenomenal for his age and he’s going to grow into a fierce actor I can’t wait to see his movies as he grows.
The scene with the kid jumping and running reminds me of that meme with the little girl running super slow and I think she has a candy bar or some shit in her hand loln
Great video bro, I gotta recommendation that I’m shocked so many RUclips channels don’t react to this movie called Extraction from 2018. Pretty much a military John wick that I’m positive you would enjoy
It is nice to see it form jack view. I was always wondering about the childeren how the see and feel about it. Born locked up .behind walls for so many year.
Because the film wants us to experience what it's like for Jack, who has to learn and discover what his situation is, and who has never known anything outside of Room until the events of this film. The story begins at the moment of change, when he turns five and Ma decides it's time to escape.
this movie was trying to be very realistic of what a victim of kidnap and being found and freed looks like and how hard it can be and the struggles of tryna commit cause u cant take time the time stolen by u :(
I watched this last night because I saw you were gonna post a video, not sure if you noticed or mentioned it but a few things bothered me, joys dad how he was so uninterested and just leaves then you hear nothing then whay was up with theo, it seemed like they were really trying to push that he had somthing to do with it all and they were really pushing his damn dog

The film should start before she's kidnapped. I don't know why the makers of this film decided to not have a beginning to it.
I get that they wanted to focus more on the effects after getting out so I guess I'm cool with it
