Every time they do the A-A-Ron joke I crack up because the first time my mother read my sons middle name (Aaron) that was how she pronounced it. She had never seen it spelled out and was only familiar with the female spelling Erin. The first time I saw the substitute teacher sketch I about died laughing.

Anyone over here in the states that watches late night programming has seen commercials for DeVrie University. It’s courses are all online. They don’t have a campus and I don’t know if anyone honors a diploma from them! 😂

4:54 - the University of Hawaii one: being from the UK, the office blokes may or may not know that particular one was based on the Hawaiian language (while still maintaining the the sketch’s original premise, which fits well because, as seen in this example, the linguistic structure of the Hawaii language is notorious for producing lots of long words very much resembling this).
Yeah and the Hawaiian language technically only has 12 letters from the English alphabet. A, E, H, I, K, L, M, N, O, P, U, W (W can also be pronounced like a V sound, depending on the word)
I actually thought it was 13 letters til I typed them out and it only came to 12. Had to actually google to double check because 12 sounds so low. 😂 but I’m born and raised here I should’ve known. Idk why I was so sure it was 13.

The last player for the West is actually a triple joke. Obviously, you guys caught the first one with his name being a callback to the substitute teacher sketches. The second joke is that he's from Morehouse College, which is a historically all-male black college. (It has a sister, all-female school in Spelman University.) The third joke is that Morehouse is in Atlanta, GA. That should definitely put him on the East squad, not the West.
Fun fact:
Former Bills player Baccari Rambo actually took Rambo as his name after his mother remarried. His previous surname was Fudge. And growing up, his friends had trouble pronouncing Baccari, so they just called him Goo.
So, technically speaking his name was "Goo Fudge"
There's a couple players that have these types of names- HaHa Clinton Dix, and Taco Charlton and that's just scratching the surface not to mention Jadeveon Clowney lol

This is soooo accurate to these segments in football! It seems like every football player has a crazy name, especially their last names, especially the Hawaiian and other Pacific Islanders. It's like a 5- syllable minimum to get on the team. 🤣
Daz's facial reaction and "Goolius Boozler" response makes me guffaw out oud and spit up whatever is in my mouth every time I watch it. Love your reactions and love the ending of this bit. I want to hear about how the police react to Goolius Boozler...

Obviously, to a degree, the joke is that the names are just purely silly, but I wonder how much the blokes really get the underlying context of black naming trends in the US. This applies to the substitute teacher skit as well - the joke is the teacher was so used to "urban" names with unique spellings/pronunciations that he was flummoxed by "regular" white names and berated them for it like an insensitive or racist white teacher would do to POC students (perhaps the deeper joke being that white names are often strange too, when you think about them) [edit thanks to B H below]. In these skits, there's a degree of self-teasing here with Key & Peele, as black people, poking fun at the phenomenon of black names. And there's probably some degree of generational teasing as well going on since young people tend to have these kinds of names more commonly. A famous example of what many people thought was an odd or funny name was D'Brickashaw Ferguson who was a top player coming out of college in 2006 and enjoyed a long NFL career. Other real football player names include Earthwind Moreland, Frostee Rucker, BenJarvus Green-Ellis (nickname "Law Firm"), Barkevious Mingo, and Ha Ha Clinton-Dix (given name Ha’Sean).
My buddy Marcus always says "People take my name and add prefixes. I'm gonna name my son De'Ja'Le'Marcus" 😂
Bruh... you misunderstood that Substitute Teacher sketch. The subtext is about how teachers tend to be racist (or just plain WTF) when it comes to POC student names. The sketch is poking fun at racist teachers who tell black students their names are incorrect by inverting the circumstances of the situation
