The longevity of QOTSA songs is remarkable, endless layers. They age like a fine wine and are tasty and complex at any level of repetition - from the first ˋWow´to the ˋAhh yes‘ once you’ve listened to it a couple of years. Best modern band.
The lyrics are my favorite part of this track, cool sounds and vibe, but when you hear shit like 'tears of pleasure tears of pain trickle down your face the same'...it's just another level
Good reaction as always. I’m glad that you can appreciate the quirks of this band, as that’s their backbone overall-they’re playful and edgy at the same time; smart, witty, never get into a rut, and always tasty. Josh is the driver and all the musicians bring good stuff to the table. Their live shows so much kick ass. I hope you react to their debut album and Era Vulgaris but they’re all good. Enjoy!
This one I like! The slow drag has a death carnival sound to it. Feel this one. He's resigned to this life he leads, Kind of angry but content. The sound was fuller. I got from the "If I had a tail" chorus is that--if I were more of a freak or unique or had something special I'd be more accepted or successful or something. I may be off, but the lyrics still make more sense than that other, "Monkey Gone to Heaven" song. +1 for the Pixies!
It's a brilliant album. Knowing the circumstances that lead to the album and this song, and Homme's state of mind at the time has ment it's always resonated with me. That's why I keep coming back to it I think.
Love your reactions Skullz. Got into your channel thru Tool and pumped that you're getting into QOTSA. At some point be sure to do their Villains album. It is phenomenal front to back. Keep up the great work sir.
When you're done with the album, there is a video on YT called "...like clockwork" it's a 15 minute video and it's AMAZING!! PLEASE please react to it? 🛐
hey man, been really enjoying your videos on QOTSA (wish they were more frequent) and your takes on the songs. that ending is really weird but it makes sense cause it's actually a bridge to the following record, My God Is The Sun. so, when you react to that song, it's worth to come back to that ending and let it play until the next song begin, maybe those sounds will make more sense then (QOTSA really does a lot this kind of transition between songs in the end of the first one). congrats on the channel and greetings from brazil!
I’ve been enjoying your reviews for a while now (been watching your Tool journey). I love that you’re up on these guys. I e been on the Josh Homme thing since Kyuss. I’ll have to back through your page to see how wide your exposure is to QOTSA. They are so different on each of their albums, perhaps because of the fluidity of the musicians (like a project). “Era Vulgaris” was the hardest album for me grab onto, but now it may be my favorite. You’re probably aware of these but Homme was involved with Kyuss, The Eagles of Death Metal, Them Crooked Vultures (with Dave Grohl and John Paul Jones), and The Dessert Sessions. All are of interest. I always said if Josh put out an album of farts, I’d at least check it out! 😂 Great stuff!
Want to expand your musical horizons? Check out Heilung, they're phenomenal. If you decide to delve into "amplified history" and awaken your inner Viking, you should start with Norupo. Also, check out The HU Band from Mongolia and Alien Weaponry... A bunch of white kids from New Zealand helping to keep the Māori language and culture alive
“Tears of pleasure
tears of pain
they trickle down your face the same”
That is one of my top-5 lines in a song.

This album could have been created 1970-NOW. SO AWESOME
Great art is timeless!
The echoey vocals right at the end, that’s Alex Turner from Arctic Monkeys :)
Never realized this song was such a cultural critique, but I see it now! Even better with that context!
QOSTA can groove so damn hard
They do, I listen to primarily metal and anytime I hear, think about, or someone mentioned them I have the urge to listen to them for the day!
You gotta do Smooth Sailing.

Such a good groove to this one

Is it like a documentary about the album? That'd be interesting
@@Skullzrapper it's kinda like an extended music video 🖤

Great song 🎧
Great review! This might be my fav album of all time. Just to let you know, your title says “time” instead of “tail”
