Although I love reptiles and building enclosures, I am by no means an expert. Do your own research and and wear safety protection. stay within your skill set. I am not liable for any accidents that may occur if you try to replicate my work.
I say this with complete honesty, your videos are some of the best on the entire platform when it comes to vivarium builds. This is astonishingly good. I was looking at Ackie enclosure videos for researching the stuff I'd need for when I build mine, I found your Ackie enclosure and was blown away by that... this one is, once again just incredible man. You definitely deserve more views.
Thank you! Much appreciated. Glad you enjoy the video's! the main reason I make videos in so we all learn together
@@bradsbioactivebuilds Any time, thank you for making the videos in the first place. I'm not much of a craftsman myself but these videos are extremely insightful.
Agreed! I wanted to document my paludarium build for a DIY video, but quickly realized how much difficulty that adds to the process.
@@taylorhickman84 your not kidding. Seeing up the camera, Remember to record the process lol, then editing takes 2-3 weeks, paying for the rights to use music and some editit platforms. I have a new appreciation for people that put out video content.
@@bradsbioactivebuilds and the added difficulty on time sensitive process' like painting or silicone/coco bark application, I would get so overwhelmed.
The attention to detail, equipment, and proper husbandry has got to be the best I've seen on RUclips. Most vivarium builders just focus on the aesthetics of the build but you take into account everything the animal will need for a healthy life and stimulation. I am currently watching all of your videos and truly hope you continue providing content such as future builds and also build updates. Also, your voiceovers and instructions are very clear and easy to follow. All around a great channel and one of the best in vivarium building!
Thank you, a lot of work goes into the videos let alone the actual build lol. My plan is to make videos for all my builds a long with updating any successes or things I would have changed. So far they are all doing well and growing in nice. Next up I'm thinking of doing a panther chameleon, blue toung skink, 4w2d6h green tree monitor, 10w6d6h Asian water monitor (Varanus Cumingi) or a full bottom 36x18x36 paludarium. Thanx for watching and your support
Bro has unlimited money for a vivarium 😂😂 this thing is incredible. I built a 4ft wide x 2.5ft feet deep x 6ft high viv for my green tree that I’m just now finishing up. I used this as well as spectrum vivaria’s video. Mine isn’t looking anywhere near as cool but I’m still proud! Cheers
Thanx bro, It was definitely a fun build to do. Send me some pics of what you built on IG. I love seeing what others create!
Cheers!
you're not lying about the long process of painting, each coat I do on my foam background takes 2-3 hours, add in drying time and I'm only getting 2 coats per day.
Yup. Gotta love doing it right lol.
@@bradsbioactivebuilds This being my first build, I don't want to take any chances. It's reassuring to feel the foam/drylock harden after a proper cure before going on to the next coat.
Are you familiar with Shell flinkote? I'd like to try it out in comparison to drylok.
So talented
Thank you. A lot of work went into this one
Again another master piece. Can I ask your wife if I can just borrow you long enough to build 2 for me lol my next project us my ackie
Lol, thank you. I'm truly passionate about my builds and like to share what I have learned to help & inspire others build their own. On that note I'm sure my wife would "borrow me out" for a little bit lol
That tubing/wire vine is amazing! Can't believe I didn't think of that, so much cheaper than trying to find a synthetic rope that size!
Thank you, and it has been holding real well with any wear and tear from the blue tree monitor! The cool part is that you can make them as long as you want for a nice custom fit!
🤘💯🦎🐸🐢🐍🌱
This is absolutely beautiful!
Thank you!
🤘💯🦎🐍🐢🐸🌱
Hey Brad, I would love to see you design and construct a large chameleon enclosure, to house one of the larger species, Panther, Veiled or Jackson's. I've watched a ton of videos on constructing and planting various reptile and amphibian enclosures, but none as good as yours, your way ahead of the competition 👏👏👏
Thank you, i like what your saying and agree with the larger chameleonspecies, I have a year old Panter chameleon and will be building his forever home when I get back from the Caribbean. Thank you for your support! 🦎🤘💯
Awesome looking forward to it 🦎
@billysmith1360 just for you bro

Would really love to see more of that beautiful monitor in that dope set up! Bravo! 👏👏👏
Thank you and I'll be doing a 6 month and year update. The Varanus Macraei is an awesome speciesto work with. I'm also going to be doing a small reptile room tour and start working on my next build when I get back from vacation
one of the best on RUclips
Thank you 🤘🦎🤘💯
This is super impressive! You thought everything out
Thank you, it was a fun build!
Skills lad.
Thank you
That nest area though. Sweet dog also.
@@azrojenkins thanx. Wasn't sure what others would think about it being outside of the enclosure but it seems to be working well. Keeping the correct moisture and temperature without being an eye sore or taking up space inside the enclosure.
Seriously amazing. Your videos are just right. Boxer cameo was a plus. Best.breed.ever.
Great fan idea too.
Thank you. And yes Boxers are amazing. They may make a few more appearances lol
hi, love your work however i do have a quick question do you build these items for other people and sell them? because im very interested in purchasing.
Thank you very much. I have thought about building and selling... maybe one day but they would be hard to gage a price plus shipping would be expensive. The main reason I make videos is to encourage others to enjoy building their own. Thank you for watching!
awesome job! learned a few tricks, thanks! (for the vines hanging outisde;) and the magnet trick! ) the exterior nest best is a great idea too. very well thought enclosure!
Awesome, glad you picked up a few tricks. The external nest box was a last minute idea. I didn't want it inside the enclosure as an eye sore or take up usable space. So I thought outside the box lol. Thanx for watching and your support.
Love it man. Looks great.
Thank you man!
Definitely probably inside where it can be cleaned would be better then putting all that into the environment 😅
Amazing setup tho great job! Some unique ideas I haven’t seen before
Thank you
@@bradsbioactivebuilds I’d love to make this in my house if I had the room that lay box was a very cool idea as well!
@@Emma-wi8ri I hear you. This room was full of stuff before I cleaned it out and redid it. Now building my dream reptile/amphibian room with my favorite species. I have a lot of cool builds I will be doing and uploading on this channel. The laybox was kind of a last minute add on. Glad I thought of it before I finished lol
this is one of the coolest enclosures iv ever seen made on youtube!

This is perfect. You should consider making and selling cages, I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

holy shit this is late but the amount of time, tears and sweat you must have spent on this project is insane, i wish more people would do this for their animals. these kinds of enclosures surely are the best for the animal. im planning on doing this too if i have enough money and the work space to do this
Thank you, and a lot definitely went into this build because, like you said, it's surely best for the animal. I hope you get the opportunity to recreat something similar. Lmk if you have any questions along the way when you start!

The attention to detail with your builds 🤝

This is another amazing enclosure build ! Would love to have this enclosure for my peach throat monitor ! Thinking her bigger house should be around 7Ft long, 6ft high & 4ft wide. She would definitely be one happy lizard in one of your awesome enclosures !
Thank you Amy, much appreciated! Peach throats are amazing!
🤘💯🦎🐸🐍🐢🌱
How did you get the fans on the swivels? I was just looking on amazon today for some type of bracket for the 40mm fans, but no luck.
I'm working on doing a step by step at the moment on how I'd it. But in short I ised 40mm fans and some casing that I found that goes around them. I cut the wire to the fans and fed them through a mist king nozzle then spliced the wires back together. I'll post the video when I finish. Theyvwork great for condensation on the glass or pointing where you want the air flow to go.
This is the sickest build. Thank you
Thank you and thanx for watching 🤘💯🤘
Using this for my caiman lizard build
That's what's up! Caiman is on my wish list... one day.... Have fun building and thanx for your support 🤘💯🦎🐢🐍🐸

Seriously the best channel for enclosure builds out there! I've learned so much and so many neat tricks I would have never even thought about! I'm about to start on my first custom enclosure because of you.
Yeeeees! That's why I started this channel. To help others create their own naturalistic enclosures for their reptiles and amphibians! I hope you create something better than I have been able to achieve!

Awesome build💯👍🏻 I'm currently going through your videos one after the other. I've been out of the reptile hobby for almost 10 years now😔 but watching your videos really got me longing to go back into reptile keeping. My favorite lizard that I've kept is the Uromastyx would be awesome to see you build something to suit them to get even more inspiration😀 Keep up the awesome work👍🏻💯
Thank you, and check out the ackie monitor enclosure, that's the closest one to an arid setup for a Uro I would currently have. But a Uromastyx build would be a fun one to do. I hope you get back into the hobby. It's always a good time.

such an extremely underrated channel. Here from the AAH podcast.
Thank you very much. And I had a great time talking with Dillon on his Animals At Home podcast.

Brad- I gotta say it’s criminal how few views you get. you should post to the r/bioactivebuilds subreddit, they would eat this up. your methods are so unique compared to the big names in the reptile community rn. the videos are so well done and i always watch them through. looking forward to watching your room glo up!
Thanx for the suggestion about reddit. I'm not too familiar with the platform but I'll have to check it out. I'm glad you see my methods unique, I try to think of things that are aiding in the enrichment of whatever animal is going into the enclosure.
Thank you for watching, and you supoort! I'm working on a new build now and have fun with yours.
@@bradsbioactivebuilds reddit is a good platform. Unfortunately, though, there tends to be a lot of misleading, trial and error, and inaccurate or controversial opinions flooding the chats. I find that helpful sometimes when I'm learning something and am interested in what works vs what doesn't and why, but if I need actual legitimate answers quickly I find it not to be the most helpful. That said, your videos would be a great boon to reddit and I do think you'll gain a large and respective audience very quickly in that platform.
@AndyB-rh2uk than you for the insight! I started a reddit a while back. But I never took the time to learn the platform. Maybe it's time to Gove it another shot

That external hide is a genius idea. I really want to pull the trigger and make something myself, but getting large PVC boards in the UK is so expensive 😪
Regardless, A+ enclosure better than any zoo
Thank you Jack! And PVC is about 100 a sheet in the US. But after factoring in the water proofing, sealing and treatment work of plywood. And I would have used a 5ply hard wood ply wood it came out a lot cheaper. Pvc will last a long time. These are some of the things that made me 100% confident in my decision tongonwith pvc. Pluse it holds heat and humidity better.
I'm sure once you get started in any direction of materials, let me know if you have any questions a long the way.
Have fin building

What did you use as the frame on this one? And how do you waterproof something like this? Or would you recommend the the other style that was used on the frogs for a blue iguana? Just curious I feel like going this route would be cheaper than some of the 700 dollar enclosures out there!
I used pvc 1/2 4x8 sheets found at any large hardware store. I used lexel Adhesive for the seams. It's so 100% printable so I did a few coats of drylok over it. That was probably overkill but better safe then sorry.
Here is a video for the enclosure framework. (All links in discription)
ruclips.net/video/kFIuR6ZNy6A/видео.html
Would you recommend this set up for a blue iguana or more so the one you made for the frogs with waterfalls and such?
@@chazshearer9863 I have never kept a blue iguana before but from what I know iguana require a large enclosure when adults. An adult iguana enclosure should be at least 12-feet long by 8-feet high from wjatni know. This style could work if it met size requirements and a little more ventilation. Hope this helps
Gotcha yeah she’s only like 3 months right now that’s why I figured the one here would be perfect size till she becomes an adult, for the more ventilation would you recommend setting it up like your build for the dart frogs?

I got recommended your videos after stumbling into the vivarium and paludarium corner of RUclips and I gotta say I am mesmerized by your builds! Your videos are awesome, man, hands down. I’d like to ask, what is your typical budget (minus the animals that go in) for these projects? I’m a poor college student at the moment, but when I get more of a place of my own to have a beautiful enclosure like this I’m curious how much it’d set me back. I love seeing the animals look like they’re in a more of a “home, not a house” situation. Thanks for the entertainment and tips to come back to in the future!
Glad ypu find the channel and got a few things from the videos. Cost is hard because I get a lot of it in bulk. But i do have most items in the description. Other then that you would just need to pick up wood or PVC and tempered glass or acrylic sheets for the front.
Thanx for your support 💯🦎🤘
But I would suggest doing something small to get an idea of building and costs and gauge your budget from there
Outstanding

Hey Brad. Your builds are inspiration for my own great work. I had a question regarding the 40 mm fans you used. How are they holding up so far? Have they been durable for you? Also are they fairly quiet?
Thanx for you question and I'm glad you received some inspiration!
The 40mm fans are holding up well. Still run like the day I installed them. They do have a slight hum noise with the guard on. But not noticeable when the enclosure is closed up. I run them for a few hours every day during different parts of the day.

Not at all. I used PVC board so it won't mold. Also holds humidity and temperatures very well. Thank you for watching 🤘💯🦎🐸
Would you put an adult Ball python in something like this for his forever home ?😮 just ordered a 4’ wide, 2’ deep, 3’ tall enclose and I want to copy your build in this video!
I thinkbit could definitely work as long as you get his husbandry to where it needs to be. Do your research too.
Have with your build!

Is it okay to keep natural plants in the reptile enclosure?
Is it not harmful for reptiles when fertilizing plants?
Good questions. As long as the plants are not toxic to the animal they have a lot of added benefits like added humidity and naturalistic environment. Some would argue better air quality.
I do not use fertilizer inside the enclosure, but all organical substrates of different homemade blends.

Dude! What an awesome setup! I'm about 5 months late, but that doesn't matter since I just discovered your channel. Has that Monstera Deliciousa ("split leaf philodendron") started taking over its half of the tank?
Is there anything that you ended up deciding to change in your bio active in the last 5 months?
Thanx bro and I'm glad you found my channel! The Monstera grows fast so I just clip it at key points to promote new growth but still look good.
If ibwpuld have changed anything, I would have added a few more ledges to the background. I'm planning on doing this soon once I have a better idea on placement. I also added another Vine that was just rope covered in coco fiber that does not have the wire inside the hose.
Also I would have just traced put the holes for the lights instead of going 1/8" bigger. I'm playing with some ideas to make it tight to the lights.
Thanx for watching 🤘💯🦎🐍🐸🐢
This video is amazing! I am in the process of copying this except for it will be 4x4x2 for a baby green tree monitor. You have been so helpful! I do have a question though, how many vents did you use and where did you place them?
Thank-you and it's definitely a fun build to do. I'm glad they video is helpful!
I added a total of 4 vents.
2 in the tip header and 2 I the bottom damn.
Plus when the dhp light is off during the day it vents through there and vice versa at night when the basking lights are off
Lmk if you have any other questions. The video above this one is how I built the shell of the enclosure
Love your build trying to do something Similar where did you get your water dishes from?
Awesome, have fun with the build.

Hey Brad, did you use both GE silicone AND Lexel adhesive? Not clear if you used Lexel for the seams and GE for attaching the foamboards or the other way around. Looking back would you consider one over the other?
Any alternatives to drylock, can't seem to get some locally, not sure what else to look out for instead.
Fantastic build, dying to give it a go 😁👍
Thank you!
What country are you in? Maybe try Amazon. Otherwise, I'm working on a new build now for a larger Varanus, and because of the nails, I'll be using Zoopoxy, which is epoxy base.
Have fun with your build!

But a few layers of grout would work. Just make sure 1st layer is thin. Or mortar/ cement
Wow how long did this take you total- start to finish..
Between drawing out blueprints for stand & enclosure to dialing in the heat and humidity about 2.5 to 3 months. Some of the time was cure time and waiting on supplies. Then let it sit for about 4 weeks for plants to root and enclosure to cycle
im working on a bearded dragon 4x2x4 but i am curious on what you would do for one
I have a video that would work perfectly if you just adjust the temps to what they needed. A dimmer switch would make this possible. Check it out ruclips.net/video/encKeoKZsJg/видео.html
@@bradsbioactivebuilds thank you, but i have sad news, my beardy died today so im a bit lost on what to do with this half built cage. would you know if a 4x2x4 cliff, cave design would work for a tegu?
@jasonwalker4650 I would say a 4x2x4 enclosure would be to small for a tegu. When I had mine, I had a 8wx4dx4h.
Sorry to hear about your beridie
Your builds are incredible! I have been trying to find dry lock paint and great stuff foam here in the u.k and cannot find it anywhere. Im wanting to build 2 bioactive vivs for my BPs. Ive bought 2 4ft vivexotic repti-homes. They have a veneeer finish and unsure how to waterproof then to avoid future sagging. Someone suggested pond paint? Any ideas?
I know some people have been able to sourse drylok in the UK. Another great builder is @riddlerreptiles he is in the UK and has a good handle on available products.
Have fun building your 2 vivs!

@@bradsbioactivebuilds thanks man that's really appreciated!
When do you think the fan build tutorial will be out?
Thanx for following up. I'm gonna try to build one this weekend than upload it the following. It will be 2 Wausau to use 40mm fans. The other will be the airduct system I have created. I am currently wrapping up a Panther Chameleon build now.
Luckiest reptile EVER! The whole time I was like…how the f*%& does this guy know how to do all this?! If you ever get stuck in Canada, boy do I have some fun projects for you 😂. Great stuff man!
He is definitely living it up in there! I just get an idea and im determined to try it lol. Thanx for the comment and yeah if I get stuck in Canada I'll need something to do lol.

You never added the link to how to build the mistking nozzle fans!
Your right, it's coming soon. Just about to build some new ones for the current build I'm working on now. Then I'll put out a video on how to create air circulation 4 different ways using fans. Stay tuned.

@@bradsbioactivebuilds I can't wait!
I tried this but mine turned out looking like a compost bin. What went wrong?
Do you mean your plants dying?
Doubt youll see this but how much drylok did you use? Most sources say a litre tub can cover 1m² with 2 coats so I will need roughly 4 litres minimum but that is really expensive. Before i spend that amount just want to double check that is roughly the amount you had to use.
@slebbern9807 honestly i dont remember. Ifbi had to guess 3 gallons
@@bradsbioactivebuilds thank you. Amazing build by the way mate
@slebbern9807 thank you, much appreciated!
