Happy Birthday young lady. Any kind of video you do from cutting hay, raking, bailing, and accumulating is perfectly fine with me if you have some drone shots too. Many thanks for all that you do for us.
Thanks Kayla that was a good clip , your dog loves riding with you , your got a good buddy there , so hay seasons nearly over there then , hopefully your ok with your health , not good when your not feeling 100% Kayla , we pray for you god bless 🙏 😊
Kayla, I really enjoy your videos. I am especially interested in your Hay Accumulator. When I was younger, 50 years ago, we did an accumulating process called "slipping the hay" This process involved placing 2 large wooden planks on the ground parallel to each other about 10 to 12 inches apart. These planks were then attached together at the top and the entire apparatus was then attached to the back of the baler with a chain. As the bales would come out of the baler my brother and I would stack them on the slip perpendicular to the boards. When we had a stack we would take a long steel bar and jam it into the ground in the slit between the planks. The tractor driver would then pull forward and the hay would slip off the planks onto the ground for hauling. Hence the term slipping. The dust was the most pleasant part of job. I like the idea of using the hay accumulator over the slipping process. Good Luck with the rest of your harvest.
Happy birth day! Birth day girl did you notice it looked like the tractor was rocking to the plunger sound. Several weeks ago a little dog drifted in here. She acted like this was home. Brother and I decided to keep her. She is a rat terrier, a smart rat terrier. She goes into the harvested corn brings ears of corn to the house. Does that mean she is a corn dog?
Another great video I stay in Scotland and we even have had a drought this year its not very often that happens. Also if you can put your feet up and rest every now and then I know its not easy when your running a farm so take care and take it easy when you can
The home base is 45 acres of which 20 is Hay Land The biggest chunk 140 acres is 15miles away..... 50 acres in between.......The whole acreage is handle as cut tedded raked, baled, hauled and stacked as a unit.... usually takes 10 12 hr days.....this last cut too 8 12 hr days...... We convert as needed rounds to squares the whole year long.. Baron Bundles have that just baled look......
Is it actually profitable to rebale rounds to small squares. I know it’s a lot quicker bale rounds out of the field but if you’ve got the time to square it would that not be better?
To answer your question.....Square bales require enclosed light restricted storage, Also the more times you handle a bale or bundle the more they look "handled" Round bales preserve the color inside..... Rebaled bundles have that fresh look because they are loaded as they exit the Baron.... We as you pointed out round bale in the field, transport and store then convert to squares as needed.... We try to keep 2 or 3 trailers loaded (756 small squares) as to profitability? We get by
I definitely think it’s a “niche”. What works for you guys doing that. Wouldn’t work for us because we have a lot who get the squares as fast as I can bale them. There’s been many times this summer we’ve never even unloaded the trailers. ESP when Jason’s delivering 495 at a time to barns…. I think it’s definitely what works best for each farm!! We’ve tried rebaling and it’s not nearly as profitable for us. We also did do round baling up until 2020 - when Jason saw a market niche for Larg Squares. They’re easier for us to haul & load.
Up untill the spring of this year we Round baled in the field Hauled and stored.... Using s a complete System we purchased with Store contracts from a Farmer that wanted to quit....It included unrolling conveyors, NH 5070 baler, 200 bale Bandit.....We upgraded to a Marcrest 3 point hitch hydralic power unit Hesston1840 inline baler, 5250T Bale Baron... which we tried on first cut in the field.... The problem is that the multiple handling of the bundles and the open to light storage.... made the bundles very un attractive.....plus the labor to move bundles could be utilized in the round baling function... No hurry to move Rounds.....So we put the system under cover and can convert in the rain if we have to... 2 workers can convert a round into a 21 bale bundle in about every 6 minutes 36 bundles is a load with that just baled look... . The stores use our trailers for storage thereby reducing the handling... My sons outlook is every time you handle a small bale you lose money.....
@@ChroniclesofKayla that’s us too. We struggle to keep any squares “in stock”. We a lot sell out of the field and the ones that make it to the barn don’t usually sit long at all. We also struggle to get everything baled before rain. We got hay rained on 3 different times this year and it was all square quality hay but once rained on we round bale it. We’ve looked into rebaling rounds into squares but just can’t seem to make it pencil out. We see several others do it on RUclips and make it work. It’s attractive to us because it’s just my wife and I trying to keep up with about 200ac of Bermuda and mixed grass hay. We can only do about +/-20 ac a day square baling. Round baling we can do +/-50 in a day.
Happy birthday Kayla. Does the bale catcher secure them in a bunch, or leave them conveniently spaced around. I'm new to your channel witch is why I'm asking. I know what you mean about the rent. It's up to the farmer to make it pay. The land lord - lady still gets paid. 👍

.... Sorry to hear that you are not feeling 100% ..... not saying you are and more than likely not. About three years ago I was informed that I was a full blown diabetic and chose to deal with it through diet and exercise and am glad I did .... would like to mention I am 64, 6'2" and 165 lbs have been since my 30s pretty much. I cooked 90% of my meals and not out of a box, fresh stuff. But apparently my sweet tooth was too big. The reason I am mentioning this is that once I cut sugar and added sugar and more or less carbs which are sugar in disguise out of my diet the need to snack between meals disappeared in a few weeks snacking is a thing that was promoted by the snack food industry. If you consider that sugar is a toxin to your body and energy is expelled to deal with it, and you remove it, that energy can be redistributed to look after other things in your body. Our bodies were designed to heal themselves. Dr sets a break and puts on a cast, Dr puts stitches in a cut. If I chose the Dr would prescribe meds for me and I could carry on feeding my sweet tooth. I guess what I am saying is get to the cause. .... the diabetes, sugar thing takes one down an interesting rabbit hole. Yes I am in the camp now of "Sugar Is Evil" Intermittent fasting is another interesting topic. ..... back to a desk, that is truley a scary alternative once you have experienced the freedom of working with Jason, and you two working together "just git er done" no matter the hours ..... thx for the share .... as always .. never quit dreaming, just dream bigger .. have fun be safe, save our oceans ....
Happy Birthday Kayla and hope you feel better soon.
Thank you!!! I’m on the mend ❤️🩹
Happy birthday
Hope you feeling better soon farming is hard
