I really can’t comment or have an opinion on if this is a good or bad hire because I really don’t know Rhule’s coaching background. One thing I do want to say is that I really hope he keeps Mickey. Mickey is great for this team and for the fans. Yes, the wins didn’t come, but Mickey kept this team and fans together. He brought heart and soul back into the players and fans. I, as well as many others, seen that change when he took over for Frost. As I mentioned, I don’t know what type of coach Rhule is. So with that said, what type of offense does he like to run? Is he a good recruiter? What position does he specialize in….offense?…defense? Does he call the plays?

Apparently, you don't understand how time progresses. Rhule's height of success at Baylor came after he had got his own guys in there and replaced most of if not all of the Briles era both in coaches and players. Even further than that Rhule had to navigate the absolutely vile situation the Baylor program was in at the time with the sexual assault scandal. The program had lost an enormous amount of TV money from the Big 12 because of what had happened, plus all the other damage caused by it. What Rhule did at Baylor should be commended especially with the absolute shit show of a program that he inherited. Whether or not he will repeat that at Nebraska remains to be seen, but based on his history I think there is a good chance he will turn the program into a B1G contender in 3-5 years.

Rhule started in 2017, not 16, which is what your comment implies.
When a coach arrives nearly all the players coming in have been recruited by the previous coaches.
So in 2017, fresh, sophs, juniors, seniors (all previous coaches recruits)
2018, fresh (his), sophs, junior, seniors (previous coaches recruits)
2019, fresh, sophs (his), juniors, seniors (previous coaches recruits)
Now, the portal began in 2018. If you want to show us that what I typed changed because of the portal then I stand corrected. OTHERWISE, Rhule's juniors and seniors in 2019 were the previous coaches recruits.

Anyone who thinks this is a bad hire is either a troll or just plain stupid. We weren't going to get Urban, and we probably weren't going to get Luke Fickell. Matt Rhule was one of the top end names we could've gotten. Will it work out? I don't know, the Frost hire has taught me to be careful what you wish for, but I'm optimistic that it could work out, key word could. Right now, we needed a program builder, and Matt Rhule is just that. Everyone just needs to take a few breaths and RELAX. Also about Trev, people may point to how he ended the football and wrestling programs at UNO, but it was something that he HAD to do in order for them to move up to division 1. People may not want to hear this, but those programs were not making money. Different place, different situation. Because of that, I would say that I trust Trev to make the right decision most of the time, however tough that may be. Again, does that mean that this hire will work out? Not necessarily, especially after we were all (or at least most of us, myself included) sure that Scott Frost was the right hire, but what I'm trying to say is that people need to CALM DOWN and hope for the best, like what I am doing. I don't think Trev would've made this hire if he didn't think Matt Rhule wasn't a good head coach, at least in college. Think about it this way, no one goes into their job with the intention of getting fired, and I'm pretty sure Trev is the same way, and if he thinks that this is a good hire, I'm willing to trust him with that decision. That's all I have to say and GBR! Welcome aboard, coach Rhule!

    Why would Mickey stay?
Arizona State, Colorado, the NFL... Somebody is going to hire this guy. Why would he want to stick around and play second fiddle to some dude who just got fired a few days ago by a 3-7 NFL team?
Not only that, but what happens if he keeps Mickey and next season starts 1-5?
    Or 1-6 maybe?
Everyone is going to be looking at what we could've had, standing behind what we gave him up for.
No head coach would want to have that on his sidelines.
And what do you think is going to happen if Matt Rhule does "Turn it around"?
A coach, with a history of turning around programs and then leaving them for the next big thing as soon as the option presents itself.
How about a dude who worked his way into his dream job as an NFL head coach, only to be unceremoniously kicked to the curb for not producing. You think he wouldn't want a shot to get back there? If only just to prove that he could? He's already got the NFL money and now he's come to Nebraska. Eight years is it? How much are we still paying Scott Frost for the next few years?
    Mark these words...
Trev Alberts will be remembered just like Steve Peterson was. For making the exact same mistake.
The AD had a popular former assistant as head coach and instead of doing the logical thing, decided to chase the NFL reject coach instead.

A Big 12 coach successful in the B1G? Frost tried nearly that same style and failed miserably. Coach Joseph, gone elsewhere, will be extremely successful and his loss will haunt Alberts and Husker fans for a decade. My humble opinion, Alberts and this administration blundered. We can hope that in a few years Rhule will do as well as Bo did. Unlikely. One might say, "Husker fans are so used to losing and desperate they'd clutch at any pipe dream."
