  • On the eve of the official debut of its new Model X, Tesla invited Business Insider to tour its technologically advanced factory in Fremont, California. While thousands of humans work on the factory floor, more than 100 robots also pitch in to build the cars.
    We asked Tesla employees to show us what they consider to be the coolest robots working in the factory.
    Produced by Justin Gmoser. Additional camera by Graham Flanagan.

    The manufacturer of these robots are FANUC & KUKA ..
    Both are pioneers in robotics

      The Fanuc robots are sold by Kuka ;-) Kuka is the largest Fanuc reseller in the world, because they don't have to care about the warranty.

      @@Rofl890 it’s not about the jobs, it’s all about how to make it more efficient. If I run a manufacturer, I would make it entirely built by automation to minimize the number of people needed

    The only impressive thing about them is their size. They are huge, but their amazing potential is being neglet just to move the body from one place to another. There are more efficient ways to do that. And more impressive thing to do with a robot. Thats not even an hard pick and drop task... It is just a bunch of pre-programmed points waiting for some inputs.

      Each robot costs 50,000 dollars. There are 200 of them. Also, they aren't primarily used for cost saving in a direct way. Instead they are used to make more cars in a shorter period of time while also maintain quality. More cars = more deliveries = more money

    I hope in future Tesla will make their own robot instead of buying them from other companies. If Elon Musk can make rocket then industrial robot should be easier.

    • @iqbalmuhammad2920
      @iqbalmuhammad2920 4 года назад +4

      Not cost effective.
      Though the initial cost is high, industrial robot purchase in the long run is best sourced to the best companies that make them.
      Unlike, the electrical motor, which is a sensible in house design & manufacturing strategy because they are used as critical component in Tesla own product.
      And, making industrial grade robot is not easy. Producing the ultra precision gears for industrial robot are the most challenging, as hard as making aerospace component.

    Because ths robots, now many people have no jobs. Government must tax this companies 10 times higher if they use robots to assemble products. This way rich people will start hire human force. It would be more expensive to keep the robots.
