I’d love a tea time talk around relationships and how they evolve. The world feels so divisive right now and I’m in my late 20s, a time when all my old friends are really growing apart and choosing different paths. Even becoming vegan a couple years ago has really tested a lot of my relationships! Compounded by a pandemic it’s really easy to feel lonely and lost.

Keep your mind open to friends of all ages and sexes. In our youth many times our friends are incredibly similar to us in age, background etc. Sometimes the most amazing friends are ones where you have similar values but the other stuff doesn’t matter. One of my best friends is 27 years younger and another is 20 years older. These amazing women have taught me so much and are 100 percent there for me when I need them.

Today in culinary school we talked about how we expect the waiter to do everything right. Once everything is going well we don't have anything to complain about. But, when the waiter spills a drink, didn't come at the table on time or any other "bad" thing, then we have negative thoughts on them. I just needed to share this and believe that we should pay attention to the good things in life too, instead of only focusing on the negative thoughts we have.

Dear Sadia, I have another approach worth trying. When you tell yourself something like "I'm an idiot", it's really another part of yourself that says that. It immensely helps to accept this part of yourself! You can thank this part for wanting to help you be a good/reliable/productive/... person and hug it "virtually". You will notice when you do that that the parts wants to be accepted by you. Once you accept the part more and more, you'll notice that the way it talks to you is nicer and nicer. :)
I swear it is worth a try. :)

Usually, if one 'bad' thing happened, it would ruin my whole day, and I would ruminate on that and it would impact my mood sometimes for the whole week! With my tracker, I check in daily, reflect on the day's events, write if I feel compelled to, and at the end of the month, I get to see that it wasn't all bad and I have a better perspective / outlook.

I would just LOVE to see these every week when you've got the time. The mind chatter is my biggest issue at the moment! I'd love if you could have tea times about making mental space at home, positively thinking about food, making time for exercise, fitting in meditation...Perhaps you've already talked about these & I haven't come across the videos so I'll have a good look at your channel.

Thank you so much for sharing your personal struggle and approach to overcoming that struggle. I realized during more intense prayer time during Lent that I was berating myself repeatedly for small failures, and I have started asking myself if my internal dialogue is what I would say to my grown children if they were having the same experience. At the same time, I realized that my expectations are unreasonably high for myself, another thing that has been feeding my negative assessments of myself. Similarly, I am asking myself what I would expect of co-workers, friends, family, when I task myself with an overwhelming workload and expected personal productivity. It has been very freeing and stops the negativity. Thanks again!

@JYOTI, this is so me. I've mastered the art of telling someone I'm too impaired to talk at the moment. Then I write down how I feel and can reread it without leaving out what the issues were simply because I'm afraid of confrontation, and I'd much rather fester and confront an issue after three strikes so I don't think that I'm pretty or crazy. I hope this helps 😊

Sadia, you are such an inspiration to me and so many others. It was your suggestion that led me to The Bullet Journal Method and to Atomic Habits. I'm a voracious reader, but these two books -- are changing my life. In turn, I've turned several people on to them. They love them, too. Listening to what you've said here; I wanted to share with you that one of my BUJO sections is reserved for 3-5 things I accomplished that day, and WHY accomplishing them was impactful and/or meaningful. Short, succinct sentences that help me keep the negativity at bay. Thank you for all you do!

Such a beautiful video! It's so important to practise being aware of our thoughts - very often people won't even be aware of what they are thinking, so awareness is an important first step. This is where meditation comes in, where we can then practise observing our thoughts, and when we do that, we will eventually realise that our thoughts aren't in fact us - we are not our thoughts. When we realise that we are not our thoughts, it is so much easier to change the thought pattern/not listen to it/not take it seriously. Thanks again for a great video - I love your vibe, and I'm so happy Teatime Tuesdays are back!!
