My word not everything has to be about race, the poor child meant she wanted to have hair the same length as Rapunzel (she said it twice!) plus Halle was called out by Hosanna for saying it first and she didn’t get embarrassed in front of everyone.

Harper is a bright girl and I'm sure she knows that Rapunzel is a fictional character. She was only making a reference to express how she wanted her hair to look and not that she herself would take on that persona. The other girls were not drilled about why they wanted to change their style and Harper looked confused and hurt that she could not pretend or fantasize about her new tresses. 😥😕 Love you Harper girl and keep dreaming my luv. I know. I felt so bad cause even the mum used to have long hair herself and if she likes Rapunzel's long hair so be it. She's allowed to have rapunzel as her dream hair girl from Disney. If she wanted it cause of Rapunzel she should of been allowed to say her reason without getting in trouble and getting told off because "she's not acting herself" and hosannas had her hair done past her bum anyway.

@@natashalee4936 she wasn't told off she was just told that she would look beautiful anyway. The reality of the matter is that these kids are biracial in a racist country. The definition of beauty in England is white. If you have blonde hair and blue eyes it is a bonus. It is important to have these children at a young age know they are beautiful. Which they are. It is hard for me to verbalize but basically from a young age black and mixed race children aren't necessarily told but rather shown that white is desirable through the media. Black characters are often depicted in a stereotypical manner. On a subconscious level some children grow up to have a form of self hatred but don't know why/where it came from. It is good that she is having these conversations young tbh. I don't think Ella is saying she shouldn't like rapunzel but rather idolizing her physical attributes shouldn't be her main reason. Especially when they are opposite to hers.

Huggies to Harper🥺♥️. Such a sweet, smart and gentle soul. Surely the Rapunzel comment was not meant to be that deep. My perception as a viewer is that she just wants her hair longer this time and it makes sense to use rapunzel as an example. It didn’t seem like she wants to literally look like her. The reaction she got was unnecessary, it can’t be good for confidence. She like everyone else deserves a fair chance to express herself without quick reprove.

She shut Harper down and embarrassed her. Look at Harper's face after she was chastised just for saying how long she wanted her hair after a fairy tale character. Harper was not saying she wanted to be white. She was talking about length and used Rapunzel a fairy tale character because she is a small kid. Her mom blew it way out of proportion. And she really hurt Harper's feeling. That was major unnecessary shade she threw at her daughter. And then the others chimed in.

Tactfully??? Do you even know the definition of that word? That word is about sensitivity to someone's feelings while being truthful. How was Ella being sensitive to Harper's feelings? She chastised a five year old girl in front of everyone. She basically shut her down and humiliated her. She was being a bully. In essence she was expecting a five year old to know about 400 years of slavery, racism and colorism. These are issues even adults can't grapple with. You need to look at context. For a little five year old girl their world is basically fantasy, fiction, cartoons, toys and fairy tales. They can't conceptualize the effects of prejudice and racism on the perception of ones beauty within the standard of beauty set by white people around the world. That is not fair to a child. We as adults are able to give examples without using a fairy tale or invoking a character in a fairy tale because we have a wide vocabulary which a five year old does not. Ella and Tim are the ones responsible for the education of their children. They are the ones that control what their children are exposed to. They are the ones that provide reading material and allow their children to read certain books or read to them. They are the ones that allow them to watch certain shows and movies. So if a five year old uses Rapunzel as the gauge for how long she wants her hair well guess who introduced that character to her it was probably Ella. Children follow a parents example. Ella has been getting lengthy extensions that are blond or white for years. Ella just permed her hair to permanently iron out her natural curl pattern. Yet she wants to castigate her daughter. Love of onesself starts at home. It starts with the books you parents read to you. It starts with the tv shows and movies you are allowed to watch. These kids don't even go to school. So if they feel feel a character like Rapunzel is someone they want to emulate or look like that is all Ella's doing. So put the blame where it belongs on Ella not an innocent five year old child.

Hi Ella and Grimwade Family. Hosanna is correct about her hair. Not only am I a stylist and braider. I am also a woman of curly hair. With our hair, it must be combed or brushed from the ends to the roots. It is painful if not done correctly. It also doesn't take much time if you do it this way. As you will find it easier to comb or brush through as you go. Be sure to put it in four sections for the easiest and quickest way to finish.

    • @TashaPeak
      @TashaPeak 2 года назад +9

I have the same hair type as Hosanna and my mum is black, dad white. My mum used to handle my hair like she handled her type 4c hair while I was growing up which was fine I guess but my hair never flourished as she always ripped through it when detangling and she thought that the hair I lost was dead hair as opposed to understanding it was her ripping out my hair which could have been avoided if she spent more time detangling it gently. Growing up, my hair always stayed at mid back length and seemed to never grow. My sister had a looser curl pattern hair and her hair would reach her waist. Little did I know, my mum was ripping through my knots which meant that that hair which wasn’t dead was breaking off in the comb. As my sisters hair tangled less, being rough didn’t affect her much as she had less knots to rip through and break. I always thought my sisters hair just grew faster but this was not the case. With curly hair, it coils around itself and becomes tangled so it needs to be handled gently to avoid it breaking. Since educating myself about length retention, I now take more time detangling my hair, finger detangling before using a wide tooth comb and then tangle teeser. Now, when I pull my hair out, it reaches my waist. I achieved this with a few years of properly detangling and moisturising my hair!!

I think Harpers hair Is beautiful as it is...& would still be beautiful longer. It's not a competition of whose hair is longer in the family or why. Hair is self expression. It's what you feel. Her life inspiration was Rapunzel. Like Hezes temporary inspiration was a scalp. I sat here & watched her heart break, as you all moved on when she was open with her family & you all didn't SUPPORT. & Siblings help improve not compete.

Ella likes whyte. So do many black people. Colorism runs deep in the black community. It causes black self hate. Her uterus is like the $$ maker giving birth to Mr. Tim’s seed. The subscribers seem to love (and maybe covet) the children’s caucasian type hair and light skin. Would there would be as many ardent subscribers if Ella was married to a black man like herself and giving birth to multiple black babies? I hope Ella’s gynecological health will be ok as she continues more pregnancies. Society looks at the whyte partner as better no matter how decent or beautiful the black partner. This is why when sometimes buying or selling a home, the black partner will be asked to step aside. When Mr. Tim goes out into the world without his black wife and half black children, he is just a whyte man and doesn’t have to be concerned with being suspicious or stopped. He can confidently go about his day. Ella is black and carries the stigma. However, her daughters will be viewed as more beautiful and accepted because they have their whyte father’s genetics. As they grow older and come into their own they will become more aware. The daughter named Hallie already seems to be aware that she’s accepted and looks more whyte than blk. The eldest son is very handsome and looks more blk than whyte and will likely be treated blk his adult life. Mr. Tim can have empathy but he won’t be able to know what this will truly be like for his son to live as a blk man no matter how much he loves him. This an open forum and jmho so no offense.

We were not given long speeches on beauty and identity because our parents knew that it was because of all the Disney princess movies we watched. Whether a child of color or white it was our fantasy to look like them. Rewatch that video of you talking to Harper and see how her spirit was deflated. Sometimes we adults can make a problem where there isn't. Everything doesn't have to be a life lesson. Believe that you are raising them up Godly and let them flourish. I have the same hair type as Hosanna and my
mum is black, dad white. My mum used to
handle my hair like she handled her type 4c hair
while I was growing up which was fine I guess
but my hair never flourished as she always
ripped through it when detangling and she
thought that the hair I lost was dead hair as
opposed to understanding it was her ripping out
my hair which could have been avoided if she
spent more time detangling it gently. Growing
up, my hair always stayed at mid back length
and seemed to never grow. My sister had a
looser curl pattern hair and her hair would reach
her waist. Little did I know, my mum was ripping
through my knots which meant that that hair
which wasn't dead was breaking off in the comb.
As my sisters hair tangled less, being rough
didn't affect her much as she had less knots to
rip through and break. I always thought my
sisters hair just grew faster but this was not the
case. With curly hair, it coils around itself and
becomes tangled so it needs to be handled
gently to avoid it breaking. Since educating
myself about length retention, I now take more
time detangling my hair, finger detangling before
using a wide tooth comb and then tangle teeser.
Now, when I pull my hair out, it reaches my
waist. I achieved this with a few years of
properly detangling and moisturising my hair!!

Hosanna’s right about her hair. I have a very similar hair type to hers (I have a black mother and a white father also) and I’d never brush my hair from roots to ends without thoroughly detangling it first from the ends up. It’s NOT good for her hair you’re breaking it off and pulling it out, we understand that you’re short on time so how about giving her the option to try to detangle her own hair? From what I’ve observed she’s surely responsible enough. My mom cut me loose as far as my hair at 12 years old and I was no where near as mature as Hosanna. I’m sure she’ll be able to at least brush her own hair out just fine🙂

Ella you kind of need to chill. Harper clearly said when referring to Rapunzel that ‘she’s white and I’m mixed raced’, she knew where this was going. The ‘teachable moment’ with Harper was a bit much. You’re projecting your own issues onto this child. Harper already has long hair. She already is closer to the ‘standard of beauty’ that you and I, as brown to dark skin Women know exists. You didn’t need the whole ‘Black is beautiful’ discourse, which may have made sense for a child with kinkier hair. I know you’ve read all the comments through the years Of (many) people saying that you prefer Halle and Harper’s grade of hair. It shows on camera. Now you’re overcompensating at poor Harper’s expense. She didn’t need that ‘kind’ chastisement at all. Surely,, as the youngest of the three, shouldn’t Harpers hair have been braided first? She might have been tired earlier and needed to go to bed?.. then you clown her for being tired.. make it make sense. And.. If wanting long hair like rapunzel is so bad, then why are you letting them braid their already long hair in even longer braids in the first place ? You sound like Tim, and that’s not a compliment.

@Tiffany What Ella did was an example of horrible parenting. Everyone was talking about how long they wanted their extension braids including Hoasanna and Halle. All Harper did was to use a fairy tale character and said she wanted her hair braids to be long like Rapunzel a fairy tale character. And the reason she used Rapunzel is because she is just a small kid whose world is basically fairy tales. She never said she wanted to be white. She never said she did not love her mixed race hair. She never came at her mom for having short hair. What Ella did by coming at Harper was wrong. She had no right to try and humiliate a five year old under the guise of it being a teaching lesson. There are many ways to teach your child about blackness and she could start by taking them to bookstores and libraries and reading to her fairy tale books and other fiction books with black characters. There are tons of books out there that are black centered with black characters geared towards black children. She should watch educational videos put out by Akeeba Maze who is Mazalle's sister and they both have RUclips channels. Akeeba has 100's of books that are Afrocentric that she reads to her two girls. All with black characters. What Ella did was to humiliate her five year old daughter because she felt embarrassed because her daughter innocently mentioned Rapunzel a white fictional character with long hair when asked how long she wanted her hair. And the reason she felt embarrassed was because the hair braider was a dark skinned black woman. And she did not want her to be offended which I am sure she was not. If they were in a white salon getting their hair done and Harper mentioned Rapunzel Ella would not have said anything at all. Ella perms her hair. Why does she do that? Is it because she does not like the texture of her hair? She put a strong chemical in her hair to permanently alter the curl pattern in an effort to have Caucasian straight hair but then wants to come at a five year old girl who simply was talking about length using a fairy tale character. How dare Ella single out Harper like that and put her on the spot. And then she asked Harper whether she thought her mom was beautiful? What else would Harper say but what she said in her soft childlike voice you are very beautiful. What she did to Harper was wrong. It was Ella's choice to marry a white man she does not need to deflect that on her mixed race kids. Maybe Ella is jealous of them. She loves them for sure but in her own way she probably wishes she looked like them with their texture of hair. That was a pathetic jab at a five year old kid. A mom is there to protect her kid and make her feel good about herself. Instead she took Harper's innocence to throw major shade at her. What a bully move. How about Ella not put long extensions in her hair. How about Ella not perm her hair all in an effort to whiten her blackness.

Why don't you read the story of Rapunzel before commenting and stop race baiting. The story is not about hair or race. The hair is the way to get the girl out of captivity. It is used like a rope.
