Honestly, the word 'Aggregation' on an 8 port switch is just marketing. It's best use case is probably a 10G backbone in a small network. We have been needing this for a while. I have a larger switch but if I only had this it would meet my needs
I recently got the same unit to finally get some 10G at home between my servers and NAS, this unit fits that really well budget wise. And with my UDM-Pro and 24port switch having the screens I kinda wanted to keep with that which the 16-XG didn't have, which I think is fine as I should need anymore than 8 ports at this stage.
It's best to limit the amount of RJ45 SFPs on this switch if you can like you did here. According to the datasheet the maximum amount of ports usable when only using RJ45 SFPs is 4 which leaves half of the switch unusable.
Have had mine running for a few months now, only using 4 of the ports at the moment. I wouldn't say its completely cold to the touch being a fanless model it does get warm but nothing crazy. I currently have it sitting ontop of my UDM-Pro & 24 port USW Pro gen2 and the temps are nothing crazy considering its fanless.
Anothe excellent video! Because of you, I'm building my own home network as well! Thank you!

Friendly advice. Stick a compressor on your mic or take 30% off the gain. Seriously close to peaking most of the time. Thanks for the video.

does the UniFi Switch Aggregation unit get warm when working? or is it completely cold to touch? Thx

@Kitchen Table Reviews ... Where did you procure your Cat 6A cables?
I bought a Mellanox sfp+ card on ebay for my Synology. Much cheaper than the original and works as good as the original.
Just got my USW-Aggregation.. and is that a Spiceworks notebook LOL
I have the similar design, but i decided not to use RJ45 transceiver.
What is your profession?
Construction Project Manager but love tech.
Great stuff thanks
