Ok just to play devils advocate. There was a lot of stuff done to us in slavery, but what people don’t talk about a lot is how the salve masters didn’t just sexually abuse the women they did it to the men too. So fast forward black people now have no tolerance for the LGBT community because of the past. The thing about cancel culture is that it promotes performative apologies and activism. At the end of the day, no one can force a person to make the effort to change and grow. Cancel culture is about punishment, but not rehabilitation BECAUSE the rehabilitation has to be an honest choice by that person.

Cancel culture shouldn't exist at the first place. Nobody is perfect , not even the ones who take the lead in making these protests. People are going to grow and understand at their own place. You can call them out , but then pulling them everywhere, making fun of them isn't going to do any good to anyone. Moreso , you can agree to disagree since they are not pushing their opinions on anyone. What they do and think personally, shouldn't matter till the time it's not harming anyone. Nobody should be kept at a pedestal and blamed for influencing, rather people should start using their own minds and have an opinion of their own. Nobody is a bad person.

Oop, let's talk about it, especially when it comes to Homophobia, Transphobia, and violence against women. People just love to feel special and upset others who have gone through that for the shock factor or the superiority complex of, "I don't think like everyone else, so therefore I'm intellectually above you." As if people can't humble themselves and just not show their ass for five minutes.
It's not always the ignorance. Some people separate the personal from the professional. If I find his art interesting and good enough - i won't stop listening to it just because what his personal opinions are. And it's okay , I wouldn't judge anybody if they do. Everybody learns things at their own pace and with their own experiences. He is not going for a kill. People need to start having their own opinions and stop putting people on pedestals.

I agree completely. I don’t think this is as simple as people make it out to be and I feel that this conversation has a lot more to be said than what we initially thought.
There needs to be a standard that misogyny and homophobia isn't tolerated. I know there are so many homophobic people around the world but at the very least, the misogyny that Dababy represents is appalling. His record for violence against women is disgusting and no one is talking about it. The fact that Dababy still has female fans just shows how deep the hatred towards women and the self-hate that some women have. To me, I believe cancel culture works but not the way most people think it does. Most people look at it as no more streams, no more media attention, no more play time etc. but to me it’s a damage on the persons brand as a whole.

I too am glad he’s flopping. I had stopped listening to DaBaby long before the homophobic rant, that incident just solidified what I had suspected shortly after he peaked: he’s trash. “Cancel Culture” is not real. It’s just a phrase celebrities and politicians scream out when they’re trying to avoid accountability for the ignorant, harmful and usually bigoted things they do/say. Once they scream “I’m being cancelled” they’re Stan’s can come to their defense and disrupt what’s typically valid criticism and opportunities for accountability. After the term “cancelled” was popularized by Black people, the right wing took the term and used it as a fear mongering tool in order to halt progress and distract from valid criticism of their policies. Then celebs started using their playbook and now they’ve convinced an entire society that it’s a real thing we should all be concerned about when it’s not. That’s one of the reasons why I think Stan and celebrity cultures are so toxic. We can’t ever really progress if the people with the biggest platforms have a core group of diehards willing to defend even the most heinous actions simply because it’s their fave. Everybody makes mistakes and everybody needs to be held accountable or face tough consequences at some point in their lives. Celebrities are no different. Great video! Okay, I paused at 7:11 because I had a thought; Doja Cat, a very talented artist, also on her way to becoming a huge pop star if not there already, I ALWAYS see major questioning of Doja still being cancelled because of this "video chat with racists," and how she doesn't date black men, yet the actual rappers who make their living off of TEARING DOWN BLACK WOMEN, especially women with more afrocentric features (darker skin, thicker body, taller than the average, etc.), literally can expilicitly say in interviews and on social media how they aren't attracted to dark skin women or over glorify women who are non-ambiguous or non-black, & they are like NEVER CANCELLED or question to be cancelled. That's extremely telling; I could say similar things in regards to Tory Lanez & Megan's situation as well but what's the point? Everyone who read this thoroughly knows exactly what I'm getting at.

OOOO & I'm back because I'm finished with the vid lol. I feel like in this society and this social media space and often within black Twitter at least (for example) people hate and cancel anyone who is more socially acceptable somehow. It's like we gang up on certain people and overlook other people who do the same exact things. It's very choosy and weird. I need to really do research and see if there's a psychological term for it or something because like it's kinda eerie & disappointing lol.
I saw someone share a tweet and that said "Megan thee Stallion, Taylor Swift & Zendaya are all the same height, yet only one of them are called "masculine"," and that leads to what I stated previously because Megan is always getting some type of shade because of everything with the case. Another point, Zendaya & Doja Cat are both biracial women of black-descent and both of them are constantly joked on for not dating black men, yet Doja (at least in what I see on Twitter often for example) cannot make a post or anything without someone bringing up her being cancelled and/or not dating black men. Not saying people don't joke on Zendaya still (especially since she's dating Tom Holland) but it's far less of it than a Doja comment section. I think that may be because Doja has had the most "problematic" conversations circuling her compared to Zendaya. I used them as an example because they are both fairer shades and they are still always getting flack about their blackness. And we already know how they treat my deeper hued gworlsss, we get THEE most hate. Don't let a darkskin celebrity or famous person do ANYTHING to get the black community "outraged," she's gonna get dragged to and through hell.

Honestly I don't think he's canceled 100% tbh.
