Yes, the character designs are way riskier than the other games and some promotional material did focus on that BUT THE GAME IS SO GOOD! Combat is PEAK, puzzles are actually entertaining, the gacha system is decent, the story is good if you don't mind reading, the animations and attention to detail are AMAZING and the game keeps getting better with each update! Every character is so well designed and has an amazing personality and story, they're all likeable. People just hate it because it's not like genshin impact, they view it as some sort of genshin DLC and can't accept that it's an entirely different game. I literally can't think of anything bad to say about it!
