You didn't mention if the system has enough low end bass response where you can actually feel it moving you around! Most manufacturers state subwoofers but are actually a super woofer! In other words, the driver's mounted under the front seats are actually a part of the door speakers making it a three way split system and while this type of setup sounds amazing with 80's music, it just doesn't dig deep enough for newer music that contains very low frequencies that provide motion! So the question remains? Which factory sound system can deliver the strongest bottom end?
I can confirm that the bass lacks a lot in the HK surround sound. I had a 2017 340i and now a 2021 X3 and I get the same vibe with both. You can tweak the audio to get some decent bass, also I noticed USB connection had the most powerful bass, but it still doesn't give you that "moving" feeling you are describing. My buddy has a 2018 ford F150 lariat, and his mids and highs are very quiet and soft but his bass shakes your chest. Big difference
@@joshs3905 Can you add on additional subs to a Harmon Kardon system? I currently have dual 12” S Alpine subs in my tiny car ... I feel like any second it’s going to blow my doors and windows away .. but that’s what I want lol Also, whenever I put a deep deep but smooth low frequency sub, it literally sounds like the Earth is opening up. I love it! lol
@@PeaceNinja007 that sounds like a dope set up. Deep bass is sweet and I've been trying to find a car that has it for a while now. My 340i felt a bit better just because it's a smaller cabin, but in the X3 it's not that impressive tbh

I once drove a 740i and I know that one for sure comes with it. I have S Alpine speakers as well for the upper registers but they don’t compare to Harmon Kardon. So you beat me there lol I simply love Harmon Kardon ever since I started using them .. basically as a monitoring system for my mini digital piano studio. The quality is absolutely crisp, can’t find anything that compares. Im jelly of those who have it in their car 😖

I have just purchased a new BMW with the Harman/Kardon Logic 7 Surround as an optional upgrade and notice that there is a lot of base pulsing that occurs on talk sections of radio stations that happens on particular word and letter pronunciations, which is really annoying. Also I think the quality of the base is poor and more of a thump sensation rather than good quality base. Really sorry I purchased this upgrade.
So you are blaming Radio Stations for poor audio quality....Radio stations used the most compressed music format out there and have the worst sound quality. The way you test sound quality is by directly hooking up your sound system to a USB flash drive with 320kbps mp3s or FLAC music. Sorry, but I don't agree that Harman Kardon sucks, it's quite good for factory. My 2018 Kia Optima SX has it and that thing is amazing.

B&O is 10x better than Harman Kardon. B&O is more precise at higher volumes especially and the subwoofer is amazing if you love listening to bass heavy music at loud volumes. If you ever get the decision to choose between B&O and HK on any car. Go for the B&O and spend that extra money, it'll definitely be worth it. Harman Kardon Systems from my experience on recent brands of cars (2015+ ish) all sound the same/similar. I have a 2018 Kia Optima with the 630 watt 7.1 digital logic Sound system and it sounds amazing.
The HK system is crap for high end cars. My X5 M50i has the HK and i5 is worse than VW’s Dynaudio. I wish BMW uses the middle range of Dynaudio in X5 and X6.
I own a 2018 BMW x3 M Sport with the Harmon Kardon upgrade and it sounds like crap. It's super muddy and the base is really crappy. I'm really disappointed with it.
@@Brenno10001 it depends on the model that you have. It can be turned off on the menu on some while others can only be disabled by disconnecting the module in the trunk
