We Mexican Americans are literally just Americans of Mexican descent. Just like Irish Americans, African Americans, Italian Americans, etc. We keep certain cultural traditions (while adding our own twists here and there) but nonetheless we are American just of a different background. Mexicans don't see us as authentic Mexicans deeming us white washed. Meanwhile in the states many (Anglo) Americans still see us as foreigners. The struggle.
Emanuel I know man but those are race obsessed identitarian snow flakes we've endured far worse and have always landed on top.. they're upset that we are growing rapidly ; it's our job to hold the white mans hand and ease them in and assure them nothing bad is going to happen.. lol.. they don't realise we love U.S customs and culture.
"Mexican"' can be a culture, ethnicity, or Nationality. Mexicans are "Mestizos" which mean mixed race., we aren't one pure race. This isn't that difficult to understand.
I'm mexican American but if someone here in the u.s asks me what nationality I am I say mexican & in Mexico I don't feel mexican enough if that makes sense I just feel out of place sometimes......
If you say Mexican American it means you need to decide if your American or Mexican. When you can't even commit enough loyalty to be an American alone than don't be surprised when Americans don't seem to want you around. You have to pick and if you can't, don't be surprised when Trump stats president next election.
@@robode1945 tf? If your family and blood is mexican/hispanic and was born proud of being American and proud of your heritage (Mexican) its damn well the term for proud mexican Americans. I will stay a proud *Mexican-American*
@@catraz.7521 you can't be both. That's not how Patriotism works, you sound like a typical wannabe invader, If you have no desire to be an American you do not belong in America. People like you are the reason America is starting deportations. No loyalty , no use for you. It makes no sense to be proud of ethnicity, you didn't achieve an ethnicity you were born with it. An American nationality is something to be proud of, you pay taxes and support the country, you physically involve with your country. Ethnicity you can't choose, nationality you can. Therefore anyone who is proud of something they didn't choose nor earn nor contribute to is laughable. If you can't see the difference your an idiot. Mexicans who are proud of their ethnicity something they didn't achieve but rather were born with is laughable. Your citizenship is something you contribute to throughout your life by taxes, voting, etc and is something to be proud of.if you cannot tell the difference, your obviously too stupid to even worth anything to a country
@@robode1945 ok dude calm down. Mexican american is just slang for someone with a enthencity background of indengionus/spanish background who were born in the U.S. I can kinda see your reply however. You cant really be proud of being born a race. Its like you didn't achieve it. I see that. Of course the real definition being you have citizenship of both countries. What im kinda trying to compare is that african-american amd mexican-american are similiar. African is not a race but "black" is as well as mexico is not a race but (im not sure on this one) hispanic is. I hope we can peacefully end this argument either respecting eachothers ideas, mindset, opinions and statements or simply agree to disagree peacefully move on with our different opinions with either one or the other being right or the other wrong in our eyes.👍Have a good night sir

Aaron González I'm sorry to hear that bro but that isn't true... I bet anything that a Mexican from rich states such as Monterrey or Mexico have 10 times a better lifestyle than you... Mexico does not mean poverty, it means a bad government. Words from a Mexican that has lived in Mexico and US

Ramon Correa I’m Mexican American but my culture is mostly African American lmao that’s the culture I gravitate most to. That’s the one I adapted in America. Ironically I’m more into African American culture than Mexican culture.
+randy antonacci I don't really think there is "United States blood" just because most people came from European countries. But if you're talking Native American, I believe they're called Mestizo. (I might be wrong)
Mexican-American is an individual born in the USA to Mexican parents. We follow the American traditions 4th of July, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. , but still eat tamales, tortillas, frijoles, chile, etc. as well as pizza, hamburgers, hot dogs, fries, etc. so we experience a little bit of both worlds............if that makes sense🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Yeah but eating American food doesn't make us Americans Mexico never had reservations so the natural thing is that we all mixed we are if native blood that why they call us Hispanic and Latino cuz they want to hide that fact the we have more native blood to this land
If you dont have mexican citizenship then you are not mexican. If you really want to be mexican then you have to get mexican citizenship wich is easy if your parents are from Mexico
Elzy Sørensen most mexican immigrants come from the most uneducated Mexican social class and they do not represent Mexico we dont like Mexican Americans in Mexico
Well, the old guy (*white mustache, hair) his mom was mexican and dad a white guy. Im assuming his mother did not talk about her culture, she assimilated and forgot it ...
My grandparents immigrated here... the word Chicano never existed before the radical 60s. It’s strange to me and my entire relatives don’t relate to it. What’s wrong with just being of Mexican descent?
You should be proud of being Mexican of knowing your roots not of adopting new ones to forget the old ones and Chicanos sometimes don't even know what part of Mexico there family is from thats not something to be proud of
+Ram. The Man I know that you fucking moron, I'm criticizing these Mexican Americans that just reduce culture to superficial aspects like tequila, mariachi, tacos, Virgen de Guadalupe.
Richard Valdez well, you went there to find new opportunities or your parents, why didnt you stay in México to fix the problems? It easier to fleed rather than looking for solutions.
It means that you have family who came from Mexico, whether it's your parents, grandparents or great-grandparents. Mexican-Americans can or can not speak Spanish, do or do not celebrate the 16th of September... we're all different! I can only speak for myself when I say I'm proud of my Mexican heritage and I'm proud to be born in the USA.
thank you. I hate this Mexican-American stereotyping in America because not all Mexican-Americans are the same. People forget that Mexico is also diverse, therefore a lot of Mexican-Americans are diverse. Apparently I do not fit the Mexican-American stereotype because I don't talk Spanish with the other Spanish speakers in a room full of non Spanish speakers, and I don't listen to corridos, and because I don't "act" like one, but they will point out I look Mexican. I can speak, read, and write Spanish, but I don't speak it when other non Spanish speakers are around because it is rude. I eat Mexican food, and I celebrate both the catholic and most Mexican holidays...so it pisses me off when people tell me I don't act Mexican enough. Mexican's are normal people, I don't think I need to point out that I am Mexican every 5 seconds (because that is what everyone else does...)
@@joselitopalacio2770 no Mexicans are Americans been here prior to the white man conquering our lands. Remember we didn’t cross the border the border crossed us. Tossin’ some Chicano history at cha👊🏽😎 Gimme tha power- Motolov also says a lot about us.
I’m Mexican-American, and I can assure it’s almost a unique problem for Mexican-Americans to be rejected by both cultures. On the one hand we have other Americans who reject us because of the high immigration of Mexicans into the U.S. and somehow blame all of us for that - despite the fact that history teaches you that we’ve been here just as long and we’re actually allowed by the U.S. government at the time to stay after the U.S. acquired CA, TX, NM, and AZ. Then we have the Mexicans who reject us which doesn’t occur as much in other cultures; for instance, I’ve been learning Portuguese for about a year so I’ve met countless Brazilians and I’ve asked (most of) them what they consider children born to Brazilian parents outside of Brazil and pretty much all have said “they’re still Brazilian”. And I think that applies to most other countries except Mexico which is hugely patriotic and see us as white-washed and our parents as traitors to Mexico because some of ours immigrated to the States. It sucks because I can attest that we embrace both sides of our identities and are embraced by neither. We gotta stand together, y’all.
I think it is best to accept that Mexican Americans are different from Mexicans and americans. It is a new and unique breed. As a Mexican, I can say that there are some things that can only be learned here in Mexico
As a Mexican I can proudly say that you're not mexican you're American and nothing more. You're only mexican if you have lived in Mexico for a long time.
My parents were Mexican, and I consider myself lucky to be born the United States of America. I was In the Navy for 28 years, so I saw a lot of places that I wouldn't want live in. The Mexican American community in general is proud of their heritage and culture and their contributions to America. And I'm glad I was able to add a little something to my country. It would have been nice if this video had gone a bit further than just along the border and interviewed folks where Mexican communities have been established for a long time (since the 1930s).
Being more mexican than the Mexicans lol hahahaha, Eating Bad tamales and speaking broken spanish doesnt Make u mexican, as a 100% mexican i can tell that chicanos are just a diluded versión of us but not the same
I'm a Mexican American and people say that I'm "white" just because I don't speak Spanish like they do or I don't come straight from Mexico like they do but I'm proud being Mexican American because I would not change the country that I live in or my roots
@Eagle Flies Real Mexicans speak spanish, stop saying that shit, Mexico as a country was born with the mix of indigenous and spanish, if the spaniards have never came here, Mexico would not exist. You are truly mexican if you speak spanish, and indigenous language or both
all the Mexicans I have met are hard-working religious proud people. they come to America not looking for a handout but for a better life for themselves and their family. my father was an immigrant God bless his soul I seen how hard he had it. God bless Mexico and the Mexican people.
More than 30 million Americans trace their roots back to Mexico - it's the fastest growing demographic in the US. BBC Pop Up spent January in Tucson, not far from the border, where 42% of the population is Hispanic. Benjamin Zand asked dozens of people to explain what being Mexican-Americans means to them.

I am an American of Mexican Mexican Descent. My 3 out of 4 of my grandparents were born in the U.S. My great grandfather served in WW2 to obtain his U.S citizenship. bothe My parents grew up in american culture. So when other people of mexican descent ask me "Are u mexican?" i always say "No im American" they usually get mad and say "no youre mexican!" and i say "well i was born here in the U.S how am i not american?" why does that make people so mad?😑
Wow we have the exact same background and I say the same shit. Why is it so hard for piasas to accept that we are not all immigrants and not all of us can relate to their immigrant experience. A piasa once told me how rude and disrespectful I was for speaking to my father in English . I told him to mind his own dam bizness and that he could speak to his parents in his native language and I will speak to mine in our native language.
that is variable. we are a very diverse group of people. It depends on what generation you are and where do you live. Are you in a predominately Hispanic community. Are you in a low income community. my loyalty is with America but if I a war where to happen against mexico I would not support it. but I don't think you have to pick a loyalty. like you can love your mother and father
"Descent"? xD mican is not a race sweetie, mexican is a nationality mostly of the populationof mexico is from europe mostly from spain, france and germany and some natives
Being Mexican american means that no one really diggs you and our are your own. I am Mexican. And even Mexican don't like me cause I know English and I speak Spanish with a accent. I came back to mexico after living all my childhood in the states.. I came here and I know they don't like me. And there are many more like me here in my city and we just kick it with each other.. We chill with other Mexicans that know English but they had never lived in the states. We think differently.. And well the issue is more with the older folks here in mexico they call you "Pocho" which I personally don't like. And they think that you think your better than them which I believe is not but they think that just cause u speak a language you grew up with.. It really sucks to be a americanized Mexican in mexico. Well at least in my experience I don't know about others but I have ran into issues with other people around my age because I am more used to speaking and thinking in a language different to them. But a Mexican one that was born in mexico living in the states will never think of themselves as a American or Chicano or any of that. I am proud to be Mexican but I was taken to the states at a young age and now I am stuck in the middle of not knowing really what to accept.. If a mother who I was never with(Mexico) who's trying to gain my love or a step mother who always showed me love and showed me how to be a man.(U.S.)
What? Maybe they rather stay and fight in their country for a better future? The answer is not always packing up and going and living like you're in prison. Most Mexicans know the realities of what goes on in the lives of immigrants while in the USA so they rather stay and try to better themselves and the country as a whole. I know sometimes people are forced out because of Cartels and such, which are different situations, but others have been conned to go to the USA so they can also suffer. As for the word "Pocho", so Mexico discriminates as well? Have you seen how they treat their immigrants from south of the Mexican border? Surprise surprise! You should probably learn Spanish and bring with you the best that you acquired in the USA and use it in Mexico to your benefit and the benefit of your new community. I know there's a "Little L.A." very near Monumento de la Revolucion in Mexico City and my God, you see them hanging there, the deportees, and they seriously look like they're about to mug you and beat you. I suggest not bringing that type of image to Mexico. And life will be smoother in the long run. But learn Spanish, or Mexicans will not treat you as an equal (and especially if you're a dark skinned mestizo, afro-Mexican or full blooded indigenous) because they're gonna treat you even lower, because: surprise surprise, Mexico is a very racist country that they try to cover up by saying that they're "classist" which is code for the darker and more "indio" you are, the lesser you are. Especially in places like Mexico City, western and northern Mexico...well, all over to be honest. But again, learn Spanish.
You can't put all Mexican Americans into one category. Someone who came from Mexico legally or illegally is just Mexican. Only Americans that have Mexican descend is a Mexican American There's Mexican-Americans that can trace their roots to California and Texas before they became part of the United States, and then there's Mexican Americans such as myself that were born in a family of immigrants. Then there's Mexican-Americans living in the Mid West and the East Coast or places that never were part of Mexico. Begin Mexican American means that your are an American with Mexican roots, it mean that you celebrate Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year with pozole and tamales. It means that you are bilingual, it means that you either look like a Mexican and act like an American or even act as a Mexican. Also not all of us have the same values, some conservative and other are liberals. Just like a Irish American with Irish roots, the only difference with us is that our skin color, surnames, traditions, culture and physical appearance is not "American" enough so we have to use the "Mexican","Latino" or "Hispanic" label, but that would be different if we had blue eyes and blonde hair, otherwise why is it uncommon to hear someone identify as German American or Italian American?

As a Mexican American I get more hate from Mexicans than I do from any other population of people that live here in the United States. It's the craziest thing.
It's not that we hate you, and it's not racial either because for example we speak very white Mexicans like me, but the point here is that if you were born in the USA for us even if your parents are Mexican or such, The truth is that for us you are just another American, who does not know well about our culture, beliefs and traditions, that is, we do not see you as Mexican because you do not know many things about us, and that is why we do not identify you as a Mexican. That is the main reason why that happens, I hope and that it has served you.

I never had any problems with Mexican people from Mexico it's a pleasant experience and I feel comfortable in both Mexico and USA. I love being born in the USA as a Mexican but I will say I feel more at home and comfortable with Mexicans and Hispanic people than whites. Even Hispanic who aren't Mexican truly understand Mexicans as opposed to whites who probably just see us a foreigners regardless.
It's funny how people tell Mexicans they aren't Americans even though Mexico is in North America. And they aren't even Americans them selves. Your ancestors came here.
The frustrating part about being Mexican-American is that the immigrant aspect gets highlighted too much. The identity is not Mexican it is Mexican-American. No other ethnicity is treated like people of Mexican descent. The Irish, Polish, Italian have all moved away from their immigrant past but Mexican-Americans can never escape it. I believe this video did exactly what the narrative has been for a long time in that it didn't focus on the "American" people of Mexican descent who have been in the U.S. for multiple generations. They don't know have any immigrant family members, don't speak with accents, don't travel to Mexico to visit family, etc. At this point they are as American as apple pie. Benjamin as the one gentleman said people of Mexican/Spanish descent have been in the U.S. longer than the founding of the United States. So all people of Mexican ancestry are not immigrants. You take someone like actress Eva Longoria who is a 9th generation American/Texan/Mexican-American/Spanish-American. Her family was here long before George Washington lived in Mount Vernon. What videos like this do is perpetuate a myth that somehow all "Mexicans" are immigrants. That's bullshit!! Mexican Americans will never be accepted or treated as full "Americans" because this type of crap keeps going on. The media, hollywood, politics, education is all swayed by this myth which is not true. STOP DISTORTING OUR TRUE STORY SO THAT WE CAN PROGRESS AS A PEOPLE IN THE GENERAL AMERICAN MAINSTREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the video it gave me an opportunity to vent my frustration!!

+William Tuffy the romans are our ancestors. Most mexicans descend from spaniard ancestry which can be traced to "Hispania" a roman province. The anglos were great people i have some anglo ancestry in me aswell. But your facts are wrong. Anglos did not invent alot of things you mentioned. Also the british empire was a joke! The roman empire lasted more than 600 years and had conquered britain aswell lol! The roman empire was the mightiest empire in history no one can beat it. And who was it built by? Latins of course lmao. Both peoples did great things I don't know why you think your "superior" but again your a troll. Living in your moms basement. Then mixed with Southern European Settlers (Spain, Portugal, France, Italy) & Jews & Arabs on a minute level.... which were then announced Mestizos of Nueva Espana. The Border between the Kingdom of Spain and the USA was till 1800 the Mississippi River . Our ancestors were here before any Anglo settlers came to America, before the USA was founded .We were always here, only the Border moved

I have a clever student who also has a deep fascination with the Spanish language, and by extension, the dynamics and influence that Spanish-speakers have in American culture. I can't describe how difficult it has been to simply find a short documentary to explain the dynamics between Mexicans, Americans, and generations of Mexican-Americans without gobbs of political nonsense that won't register on the other side of the world. It's shocking how little we care about culture or the migration patterns of people, and its influence on language and cultre. Microaggressions and hyper-politicized immigration stories don't compute here, but this story does. I suppose I had to find a video that was almost a decade old. Bummer, because there is so much more to explore here. Thanks for the video and teaching resource.
Well, I just call myself American because my parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, and so on were all born in America. Even though I am fluent in Spanish and can read and write it, my main language is English.
I've always said it. Love being Mexican American. Love speaking both languages because that way i don't need cable. If nothing is on local English channels i switch to the Spanish channels and vice versa same for the radio when in the car and yes i have antenna tv and i don't care because it gives me like 30 English channels and five Spanish channels
that flamenco music in the background in a video about mexican americans?? Is it a coincidence or does the editor think that spanish flamenco is representative of Mexico??
The man Jim Price seems ignorant. He says he finds the word “Chicano” as offensive but doesn’t know what that means. How can he be offended without knowing what it means. The Chicano civil rights movement helped us in so many ways. My mom was attending Belmont High School in Los Angeles during the walk-outs and none of the Chicano movements actions were in vain. Perhaps he can take a Chicano History class. My mom is American of Mexican descent, as was my grandfather and great-grandfather. That side of the family is traced all the way back to Texas before it was part of the USA. My father was born and raised in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico & emigrated to California at 18 to study here. He eventually settled here & met my mom & married her. I am blessed to have the best of both worlds. I could be wrong, but I am under the assumption that Mr. Price in this video is mixed with Anglo descent and perhaps has had a little white privilege in his life. My children are bi-racial and their father is Irish/German but you ask them what ethnicity they are and will be quick to say Mexican and American as they were raised with my cultura. As for Mr. Price mentioning Mexicans applying for AHCCCS healthcare (Arizona’s state-funded Medicaid healthcare) and living in Mexico. Well unfortunately there are some people that commit fraud. One of the requirements is that they are US citizens or US residents living in the state of Arizona. I was an eligibility worker for social services I. California for 7 years in addition to a couple of years in Arizona. I saw some cases of this type of fraud and although I didn’t see it often, it does happen. It can be reported to the state anonymously. I am very proud to be an American and thankful to God for my Mexican roots. I love and keep in touch with my paternal side living in Mexico and am proud of my Tejano roots (as grandpa used to say). Blessed to be born with the best of both worlds, thankful to be educated in knowing those roots and the importance of the Chicano movement. If anyone wants to learn a thing or two, I recommend a book written by Dr. Rudy Acuña titled Occupied America. Education is key mi gente! Much love and respect to my raza. ✊

What it means to me to be Mexican i love being Mexican. Being born in states doesn't mean that culture is gone, we have the people, our togetherness especially when it comes to family, our food but I mean authentic food that can take hours or days to make..not fast food chains that say its mexian, our golden skin people envy to have. I'm going to change it up with one of my biggest issue is to say you dont like or date your own kind to me this is a serious lack of self worth, Maybe its not them its you. how could you say that about our people we beautiful in and out, just like every other culture...
Being born un the states means that the culture is gone or at least diluded, i know what mexican americans eat like tamales pozole etc and the taste is worse not Even close to the original, i'm 100% mexican and trust me there are a lot of things that can only be learned here
I love the Mexican culture what heart, passion and beauty. Please remember why you came here to America, remember the day's the bandito came into your vilages and stole your food and even worse things that I don't want to mention, keep your beautiful culture and share it with America help keep America free of the bandito please there is a bandito in all race and culture help us.
I'm fluent in both English and Spanish, but for some reason when I speak to white people, my Hispanic accent comes out, and when I speak to pure Mexicans, my American accent comes out 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
Yo i didn't mean it like that. I don't really care for the whole religious or music thing but if you don't speak Spanish then i don't think you can call yourself not whitewashed.
It seems that most of the people from other countries are free to embrace their culture but being Mexican American, if you embrace your culture, people automatically assume that your not from the US and that you are here illegally
Mexican is nationatilty not a culture non a race, as Americans, dont worry about it, just be who you are.
Emanuel So True.
well said brother..
I know how you feel. Here in the U.S. I feel more "Mexican" than American, but when I go to Mexico it's definitely the other way around.
+Pedro Rivera right!?
Exactly I feel like la India Maria, ni de aquí ni de aya
+AbbyRockx56 I know. I like being Mexican, I'm proud!
In México we are seen as chicanos
It means that you are a citizen of the United States with Mexican ancestry.
I think they're going for something how much deeper level if it didn't occur to you
If you say Mexican American it means you need to decide if your American or Mexican.

What is the one thing that you think we should know about your culture?
Why would you embrace being born in the most hated country on Earth....
As a Mexican I can proudly say that you're not mexican you're American and nothing more. You're only mexican if you have lived in Mexico for a long time.

***** yeah i know.. so i will just chill cause i guess you can say Mexico will never really feel like home.
Uhhh, lol what? I don't only hang out with mexicans. Man you must be lonely

It's not that we hate you, and it's not racial either because for example we speak very white Mexicans like me, but the point here is that if you were born in the USA for us even if your parents are Mexican or such, The truth is that for us you are just another American, who does not know well about our culture, beliefs and traditions, that is, we do not see you as Mexican because you do not know many things about us, and that is why we do not identify you as a Mexican. That is the main reason why that happens, I hope and that it has served you.
@@j0rgesin I agree but what if you did grow up with all the Mexican traditions. And I know this because I go to Mexico often and it’s damn near the same as my household. I don’t have a single family member that’s speaks English n grew up with the same traditions as my mothers who is Mexican. Raul Valles Man, you should take some geography classes. First of all America is a whole continent, the US is a country. Mexico is America, so yeah he could have come from any part of America (Guatemala, El Salvador, Colombia, etc..) The main point of this is that people shouldn't be ashamed of their background ethnicity, parents have a rough time trying to go to the US.
Let me teach you something; what I just did is called a metaphor.A metaphor can describe something with words that can alter the principal meaning of a word. The person might no be Mexican, but for sure it might be latinoamerican.

There is a huge difference in being Mexican and Mexican American..I experienced living both in Mexico and the US and I found it hard to find my identity because I consider both my contries but they both rejected me..made me feel like I belonged in the border or something..I was a “gringa” in Mexico and here I’m a Mexican..but i’m not a Mexican..I’m an American with Mexican parents..I’m an American with a Mexican background..I’m a Mexican American..See people like me get discriminated because we don’t appear “American” but we don’t act Mexican enough..I personally feel blessed to speak 2 languages (with a hint of Italian that I learned in High School) I can switch from English to Spanish in a jif..I can translate to either Spanish or English..I can read and write both. I can enjoy both worlds..unfortunately people have made it hard for me to do so. I have received bullying and racism from every race I have come across. I will always be seen as an outcast..my Mexican family thinks I’m a snob because I have a different lifestyle and non-hispanic acquaintances think I eat Tacos for breakfast, lunch, and dinner..I get dirty looks because I’m clearly Hispanic, without getting to know me personally. I must be a chola that sells drugs and have cartel family members

I never had any problems with Mexican people from Mexico it's a pleasant experience and I feel comfortable in both Mexico and USA. I love being born in the USA as a Mexican but I will say I feel more at home and comfortable with Mexicans and Hispanic people than whites. Even Hispanic who aren't Mexican truly understand Mexicans as opposed to whites who probably just see us a foreigners regardless.
i just say i’m mexican, feel more like it even though i’ve lived here all my life
It's funny how people tell Mexicans they aren't Americans even though Mexico is in North America.

Sorry buddy like i said, hispanics are superior. Look at our ancestors, the romans, they built the greatest empire in history. What about you cave dwelling anglos? Lololol
Living in your moms basement. the first people in that land were Mexicans, California, Arizona, Nuevo México, Utha, Wyoming, nebrazka, colorado, Texas etc. Mexican Land
No there was a treaty that changed that
FILISK8 no they were the Pueblo Indians
Yes, it was at one time many years ago but if you know your history Santana sold the land and was paid, so the fact that these states were Mexican land is a thing of the past and Mexicans need to realize it. I am Mexican born proud to say American nationalized second generation.
MyDammitt the point he's getting across is we we're here first which is what alot of you white identitarians get all hot and bothered about you act surprised with the demographics growing blaming it on illegals when in general illegals make up a tiny fraction of the legal and naturally born majority of Hispanics/Mexican Americans or Chicanos whatever label you guys are so obsessed with.
FILISK8 no first people in those regions were Indigenous Peoples of America (North & Central American Natives). Then mixed with Southern European Settlers (Spain, Portugal, France, Italy) & Jews & Arabs on a minute level.... which were then announced Mestizos of Nueva Espana. After that those same people were dubbed Mexican
The Border between the Kingdom of Spain and the USA was till 1800 the Mississippi River . Our ancestors were here before any Anglo settlers came to America, before the USA was founded .We were always here, only the Border moved

My Grandpa never let us grand-children talk about Mexico or visit Mexico because he knew my Grandma's heart was broken when she lost her brother and family's land in the Revolution as young girl. Now that I am much older I plan to visit. I doubt my family can reclaim the land of my great-grandparents. That's ok because we already carved out a life in the US for three generations. I am an American teaching English in Thailand.
Thanks for the video and teaching resource.

that flamenco music in the background in a video about mexican americans??
