- The Evolution Championship Series (Evo for short) represents the largest and longest-running fighting game tournaments in the world. For 20 years, Evo has brought together the best of the best from around the world in an electric exhibition of skill and fun. During one incredible event each year, Evo hosts players and fans gathering to honor their competitive spirits in an open format tournament to crown World Champions. Evo 2022 is that event!
Vortex Gallery is a series of tournaments run by the collaboration of a group of volunteer Tournament Organizers. Headed by the 956Productions (956Pro) group, we aim to host an event as a collective effort of TOs from all across the globe, help promote each other's work, and to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for both organizers and participating players.

I never thought in 2022 I would see MODOK, Ghost Rider and Arthur in a EVO Top 4.
Appreciate Mothman and Sacktap for staying with the mains
I've been saying this for years. Sacktap is a god and one of the sharpest players in the world. Nasty mixups, insane character knowledge, dirty tech and incredible reads. Always a pleasure to witness him in the zone. At his best, he can beat anyone in the world with low tiers. Also, scariest Haggar on the planet, hands down
Very entertaining to watch him play, especially kicking ass with Nemesis, who is considered a “Trash Tier” character according to both the EventHubs poll and Justin Wong himself.
@@Lepidopterous. event hubs is a not a good source in general and while Justin is great his umvc3 tierlist isn’t considered good by the rest of the umvc3 community ( sentinel in C tier) .
Well said, especially about his character knowledge. Dude makes us go "Oh yeah that does work..." I don't know why he chooses the more difficult ways to win in this game but I'm grateful 😆 lol! And yes he's the best Haggar player. Those footsies he did in the top 12 matches were so deft! Aspiring Haggar players will be studying that film.

@@ellis7622 Sentinel in C is a meme. Harddrive is one power supers in the game ( he can get out of unblockables) + he can kill pretty fast in x-factor and has a Tac infinite. Also he put jill in B tier despite her being one of the worst characters in the game
Sacktap is such a unique fighter. We’re lucky to have someone like him in the scene.
Seriously. Always liked players that used unique teams/low tier characters. They’re always these underdogs that do really well. Look at Sacktap. He made it to grand finals with Ghost Rider! Much respect

Always wanted to play on the EVO stage. GGs to all, sorry zero had to triumph once again but GGs to MOTHMAN and Sacktap, we play every week in a tournament online or offline at this point so it feels good to see all our grinding pay off :)

First Evo gameplay Ive seen in about 5 years or so. I was such a diehard following all the SRK forums & putting endless hours in the lab! Good to see new faces in the community, didnt recognize anyone in this top 8. For better or worse :) Whens Marvel!!!
iinside is unknown, magic pixel mexican is sacktap, and noel bhungry is noel brown. No way you had no idea of those players since they all made top 8 and have been in competitive marvel 3 since release or near release and have been extremely well known in the scene since way before mvci came out.

I have this game but never tried it. I wonder if there is an oce discord I can go to so I can try it out. I do suck at execution so it will be tricky to learn these combos. I might make a team around Aurthur as well I am a masochist that likes to play the original ghost and goblins against my friends to see how long we can last and who can make it the furthest.
Now that it's on the Evo lineup I hope everyone turns up. Maybe as a Sunday game again?

Sacktap and Romora are both so fun to watch. Also, I’m sure it’s an established and legitimate strategy for the character, but does anyone else find Mothman’s fighting style/strategy with Phoenix kind of annoying to watch? How he just spends the whole game just trying to build up meter for Phoenix.

How is Zero doing that same juggle fun to watch?
I find Zero and Vergil to be 1000000 times more boring to watch. The morrigan/phoenix team puts the opponent into a race to be proactive before phoenix comes online, which tests the opponent and forces them to spend resources early on to get rid of phoenix. To me much more interesting to watch than zero doing a lightning loop into incoming mixup..

Yipes was at EVO this year, i saw him a few times in person. He was probably too busy with commentary/announcing to play much.

@DARKISANDY. Yeah I understand how you feel but that's a no restriction format for ya. And yeah it's nothing impressive really cause anyone can just main Zero/Doom/Vergil and win the Finals easily. Don't worry though this can be fixed if it's a point system format assign to each character like how Justin Wong does it for MVC2, OR they can just straight up banned broken characters and then play as is.
@@ralki15 If we just had one more balance update. Even just ever so slightly buffing low tier characters, and making minor nerf adjustments for high tier it would change the entire landscape. Man I wish they never made MVCI.

He's been grinding at this for a long time, and he knows every single nuance of that team. He's beaten a lot of high tier players/characters, yet whenever he wins, people act like he played a C tier player with a D tier team smh. I'd love to see them take their mains (or S-tiers since that's apparently all you need) and face him. I got money on Romora 3-0.
