I took this flight one year ago onboard the 5-star carrier Lufthansa. This is the second and probably last time that I fly onboard the iconic Boeing B747. During the following months I will upload the following flights of my trip to Canada, which was absolutely amazing.
This was a decent flight indeed, even though I expected much more from this airline in a long-haul flight. The departing terminal was fair enough, however, much of the few restaurants and shops inside the building were closed, leaving only one place to eat some food. The time in the preboarding lounge was absolutely horrible. Too many people for too little space, making it impossible to find a seat or even a place to wait, even standing, until the boarding had started. Once onboard, and after one hour of delay, the aircraft was very clean and the seat was comfortable, especially due to the great legroom. About the food, I expected far better options and quality. The lunch service was not that bad, but there was a lack of protein in the food options. The snack offered upon landing was inedible, except for the yoghurt and the kitkat. The crew could have been a bit more friendly.

YVR is one of the nicest airports I’ve seen so far.
Brilliant trip report! It’s astonishing to me that Lufthansa serves only a hot meal and a cold snack on long haul flights. They need to step up their game.
Yeah, I found a bit disappointing the meal service, especially in a five-star airline. Lunch wasn’t that bad, however, other airlines offer more food options. The snack was by far the worst I’ve had on a long haul flight, absolutely inedible sandwich. I expect Lufthansa to improve that aspect in the future like other carrier have done, Iberia for instance.

While I've flown Lufthansa a number of times, I've never been on either of their 747's. Hoping to one day soon from YVR, before they're all retired. Great video!

I have flown on that vx 747(the one to Boston in 8:47) from Shanghai to Frankfurt. My final destination is also Vancouver, and then all the passengers clapped when the plane touch down in Vancouver airport, and the guy next to me said "we are still alive" lol.

Beautifully made video. Thanks. I'd heard LH had fallen in quality of their meals and this indicates that. Yes, very disappointing. I've been so wanting to take a last trip on a 747 though.
Yep, I hope Lufthansa improves its meal service. Also don’t wait to much to take a flight on a 747 in case they ended up retiring the all of them! 😅

how was the customer service? Were they strict with the checked bag weight. How much was yours
I traveled with a carry on bag only, but they didn’t measure or weight it so I guess it’s the same in case you need to check in your luggage.
The 747-8 won’t have those nice majestic sounds the 747-400 did.
