    I have the same vacuum and also have two floors. Be awesome if the integration supported multi-floor mapping, but the vacuum works well without it. Going to try some of the automations as I have the integration up and running. Thanks for the video.

    It would be good that Home Assistant will have an api to query the battery status, therefore to shutdown the charging power when battery is 100% charged

    • @annespacedroid
      @annespacedroid Год назад

      Can't. Not that it can't be done... Just not as simply. Mine shows battery level & I could switch off the mains easily via zigbee. Next time I start a vac cleaning, I switch the mains back on. Vacuum will consume all battery energy sitting idle though. It will soon realise it's not receiving power from the charger & complain about it. Then drain the batteries. That's how it is. For roborock (at least) you'd need to switch the power on the vacuum cleaner, then the dock. You can then switch the mains for the dock in your automations. The vacuum cleaner would have to be switched manually back to on. Lot of work. Defeating purpose of "automation".

    The price is what gets me, I paied for a T6 2 years ago, in China for about 200 gbp, where as the S6, the exact model costs 600 gbp here.
    I recently tried rooting it, but them putting a geo locck on the device is true corporate greed

    I really like the idea of pausing the vacuum while motion is detected in the room... however, I have many rooms that get cleaned. Are you aware of a way to tell which room the vacuum is currently in through HomeAssistant?

    The S7 needs to be on the same network as HA.
    I beat my head against the wall a couple times before I figured that out.

    • @HomeAutomationGuy

      @@HomeAutomationGuy so, separate network is gone, to protect the way inwards, and the robot publishes the home to the xiaomi servers on the way outwards. Quite the opposite of what HA is intended to do - stay local? I'm still struggling to head over to valetudo....

    Hi is there a way to automate a vacuum like autovac and roomba braava to work together when vacuum stops braava starts. Similar to how the roombas communicate. Alexa routines doesn't allow this

    • @HomeAutomationGuy
      @HomeAutomationGuy  2 года назад +1

      I am not personally familiar with these devices, but if they are both compatible with Home Assistant then you should be able to support this. Create an automation that is triggered when the Autovac finishes cleaning (I think the state might change to stopped) and then create an action to start the Braava.

    Hello!
    Great, thank you!
    But here's the problem: there is a power setting for the vacuum cleaner, but no setting for washing the floor!
    For this reason, I can’t set up cleaning: first vacuum, then wash! ((
    Any thoughts on solving the problem?

    • @ScottGiminiani
      @ScottGiminiani 2 года назад +2

      There actually is, but it takes a bit of custom work. Play around with the service call vacuum.send_command with the command set_water_box_custom_mode and param 201, 202, 203, etc. Note that I have a Roborock S6 MaxV, but I believe it should still work.

    I'm new to this and I'm already 100% satisfied with stock S5 vacuum cleaner so... what do I get if I root the vacuum and use Valetudo and/or Home Assistant in comparison?

    • @annespacedroid
      @annespacedroid Год назад

      If you have s5 (not Max) valetudo (I use the RE variant) is super simple to install. If you have home assistant already, you're missing out if you don't integrate them. You no longer need internet for starters. Everything controlled locally. I have (my child has 🙄) a bird cage. Lots of seed & feathers daily.... Automations solve that problem. I also have a 6 button wall switch, 1 button for each room/section of the house. Single click cleans the corresponding room. Double click mops that room. Any combination can be set. The bird cage has its own button (hidden) 1 click vacuum, double click mop. I can select full suction power by holding the button for 2 seconds, same goes for the 6 button wall switch. All buttons secretly control my lights outside too 😊. No tablet, no internet, no app to load or controls to navigate. A single button cleans, mops or both, a single room or a whole house. When my brushes, Filter etc need maintenance, I have an announcement play on a connected speaker (spoken word, any language & voice is possible) every x amount of hours to remind you. Some of mine are set to repeat every 72 hours, in case you do not have one, you can order one. "Main roller/filter/side brush on vacuum requires replacing". There's a lot you can do. Imagination is limitless. The wireless switches I have run on battery. I set notification for any that are below 8% on those too. The grand kids get a total kick out of me (secretly pushing a button) using Jedi force to clean up. 😂

      @@annespacedroid Yeah... I don't have Home Assistant and I'm not familiar with its workings so it doesn't currently help...
      However, I do have self made Raspberry Pi powered Arcade Cabinet, and I also use it as DLNA for cartoons, NAS for backups and Pi-Hole to block unwanted content for my kids.
      Is there a specific cheap-ass-hardware to buy (some buttons, maybe light bulbs or something?) and what software do I need?
      I see MQTT broker for linux and shit... What hardware is used as a controler? Or is it all WLAN and/or BT?
      Short quick and easy list just to get me started is enough, and then I can continue the research and expandion myself... The only problem is that I currently don't know almost nothing about it except that it exist.
      ...I installed some KNX stuff for my clients, but that's really expensive!😁

    is it possible to clean the specific room

    • @HomeAutomationGuy
      @HomeAutomationGuy  3 года назад +2

      Yes it is! It's quite easy to do via the Xiaomi app, but each room is given a random number ID in Home Assistant, so it's a little harder to do unless you figure out which room is mapped to which number.

    • @enbyrne
      @enbyrne 3 года назад +2

      Yup, you can name and resize/reshape rooms via the app, and determine which rooms the robot should clean. Unfortunately those names don't come through to HASS, so you need to do some trial and error to find which "segment id" refers to which room. You can do this by calling the service with various ids and watching the app to see which room the robot is set to clean.
      Note that room numbers seem to start from 16 for some reason, so that's a good one to try first :)
