No I agree with him, the ender dragon is kinda a joke at this point the only time you really need to worry about it is when you get knocked back a bit which can be countered by a pearl or water bucket. The crystals just take a couple of arrow shots, and you just need to stay within the perimeter of the obsidian pillars.
I remember once I accidentally hit an iron golem, and each time I respawned in my bed in a village it would instantly kill me. Took me a long time to kill it.

Ok let me explain to end this argument- The ender dragon IS strong but does no do a lot of damage it only has an insane fire rate and an insane knockback so first. The dragon's breath does like 3-5Hearts/Sec so thats like about 10 hearts and it lasts like 7 secs so next the fireball does like 10-20 damage which is pretty strong but not as strong as the charged creeper.
Fun fact: a ghast's fireball can deal 1000 damage, if it hits a ghast. This is because mojang wanted to ensure that they would die instantly, if a player deflected their fireball
