I'm in absolute awe. Love all your videos, including the dart frogs. I'm keeping an IM 30L, a home made 12 gallon... And a savings bank account for when I'm finally able to afford my own home. Thanks for keeping us inspired. Truly. #inspired
Dev, the tank is looking phenomenal man!! I love seeing your updates on this system; it's been a really cool experience to watch your colonies mature and grow out to the point you're at now and done in a high quality documentation way. It's fairly rare to find a channel with great content and a tank that has matured beyond the frag stage (speaking as a current frag stage reefer myself lol). Keep the period updates coming!
This whole setup is absolutely insane and inspiring lol a bit intimidating at the same time though tbh hoping I can create a beautiful reef like yours someday
I'm doing my deep-dive on building my next reef tank. Previous experience was 12 years ago. The world is very different in this community (so easy to find answers/research now*). (planning for BB, high-flow, StRoNg Blue led/SPS dominant, peninsula. Also required to have: External overflow/sump/refugium/skimmy/reactor/wireless control/dosing.. etc) Trying for something I can leave for extended periods of time as I sometimes away for weeks. If you had any thoughts on an aquarium premade or a custom shop or anything. But anyways, I began writing this because: First tank I considered, I stumbled upon a well-updated and informative video by You! Literally third tank I am considering -now; AGAIN. Quality information and solid updates. Loong winded comment but this is to show you my appreciation for you😫 L&S'ed obv
I have the 3' version of your tank and up untill recently (before i decided to add some SPS) i have been good with just a maxspec jump gyre. I have just added a few SPS to the tank and think its time to add a bit more oomph, pretty sure ill go the same route you went with the wavemakers either side of the drain box but with the gyre in the middle adding more random flow spikes.
I have the same tank dimensions as yours and also a peninsula, I’ve been following your tank updates and you started your tank lights using xr15 and switch to xr30. I’ve been planning to have sps dominant tank, which do you prefer?
How old is this system? Pro Tip: Be careful with your Versa mounting. I noticed you have pumps directly over other pumps. I've had 2 sets of the tubes start to leak (kalk) and had liquid get into the pumps. Luckily they didn't fry. I love ecotech, but they seriously need to get their tubing fixed. They hadn't been run long at all. Second one to fail was only used for a couple weeks. Shame that the best dosing pump has the least reliable tubing in my experience. I use the DOS, Kamoer continuous duty, and haven't had failures with them. Always function over form for me.
I used it in my other tank but it’s not really bad enough to worry about in this tank. You don’t seee it unless your looking hard to find it. So we’ll see if it goes away on its own or not over time
In your honest opinion, G6 pro or blue? I wasn’t happy with my G5 blue because it was such a “white” light on AB+ mode. I would like to upgrade my G5 blue but still unsure which route to go, G6 pro or blue…
Hi Devon! We have the same tank, still getting through the first year. We went for a pair of MP40’s - same Idea as you, no powerheads at the far end of the tank. Still unsure if MP60s would have been better. We have quite a lot of the same equipment actually. I run an L2 return but I think it’s over spec’d. We have 4xXR15 gen 5 pro. Seems enough light for us at the moment. It’s a mixed reef but mostly LPS/softies. I have just started dosing Alk as was struggling to maintain high enough levels. Be interesting to see what a stable Alk will do for our coral growth! Glad to hear your fish survived!
I agreee. Could have went with a m2 Instead. How is the mp40s working over 6’? I went with 60s for the extra umph Xr15 is moss than enough. Mine is overkill. Sounds like you have a sweet setup!
I'm having to add a little bit every few days or my Kalk mix seems to be diluting too much and not maintaining pH. Thinking about doing what some of your guests have been doing and dosing out of a sealed container.
I had a yellow tang that would do the same with a lawnmower blenny. It was cute but also annoying because the tang didn't pick the rocks at all, just ate the blennies leftovers
Stunning! I have the same tank and MP 60’s. What setting and % do you use to get that flow. I’ve tinkered with mine a lot and can’t seem to find something that doesn’t blow sand all over but is enough to get to the other end of the tank.
I had to work the % up over time to prevent the sand being blown around. Using special grade reef sand.. started at 45-50% ish and upped it every few months. i belive its around 70-75% now
Your tank is looking great. That DIY CO2 media holder makes me nervous though. If that were to break or if you accidentally hit it and all the media went into your sump...not good!
Great update Dev
Thanks Lee!

Much appreciated JC! Having your own place rocks to have the ability to build things how you want! your off to a good start!
Nice update Devon. My 320.5 is cruising along too🤙
Thanks Mike! love to hear it!
Really looking good. Great mixed reef.
Thank you!

Thanks Jeff! i'm trying to do one every month or so ish on it! Fun to see it progress over time :D
Awesome tank
Thank you Brody!
Can you please post a link for the motion magnetic lights. Thanks you, awesome tank.
Already have one in the description :)
Awesome video, Dev!💙🐟
Thanks Cheli!
Tank is looking awesome Deven.
Thank you! slowly but surely!
Looking great!
Muchos gracias!
Work of art
Far to kind DC!

You got this! Slow and steady :)
Looking great 👍
Thanks Bo Peep!
You've done a great job here.
Thank you! much appreciated :D

The reef looks great. What color temperature are you running those lights?
Custom lighting schedule. I made a video a while back if you search reefdudes mobius schedule Prettymuch the same as I’m running now
Are you leaving cyano or will you be doing something with ?
Chemi clean , or what method do you do, if any

In your experience , does cyano bother corals?
@@philbert3866 Only if its actually covering the coral, small amounts around it dont seem to be a big deal

I went with the pro but I also wanted more of a whiter crisper look in the day and more ab+ morning and evening
@@ReefDudes would you mind sharing your light file? Please
Beautiful reef tank!!! Can I get your Radion G6 Pro User Template? Thank You!!
Stilll same schedule as my g5. (I do have that one posted). I’m tweak it a smidge then maybe post an update after a bit.

Did you qt all those fish or buy them qt’d?
What is that growing up the overflow wall? Tanks looking amazing Devon!!
Rainbow loom. Thanks!
An absolute beauty. I understand the reasoning behind bare bottom tanks, but they will never achieve this state of natural grace.
just wondering how often you are topping up your Kalk reactor and roughly how much?
I add 1/2cup scoop every 1.5-2weeks ish
I'm having to add a little bit every few days or my Kalk mix seems to be diluting too much and not maintaining pH. Thinking about doing what some of your guests have been doing and dosing out of a sealed container.

what are your settings on the mp60's?
What fairy wrasse is that?

I have a lid on my sump so low risk :P. One day I’ll make a fancier version!
