16:00 with the hard variant you can't play any of the hearts or the 2, but the ONLY remaining cards add up to exactly 14. You could have continued with the plat and even used it as an example for the east consolation prize variation!
Great game and explanation nonetheless. Thank you!

I'll have to play this at some point, likely tomorrow when it's not 1am

Now the creator has 2 views from me because now I must watch it again so I can actually play it this time

In hindsight, I could have played the 7+5+A+A (a mightly blow to my inventory) for that Queen.

I really like this version of Merchant Solitaire, the theme is so good and a great name :)
I like to imagine that hearts are romance, spades are horror, clubs are fantasy, and diamonds are business/self-development. I'm trying to think of a reason why you'd want to give away a free book (the same genre as they are trading in) but I can't think of it -maybe to free up a space on the shelf for a different number or suit? Hard to imagine that being beneficial, but maybe in a rare case. I like the variants too. Great design! I'll be trying this very soon.

Yes! At one point I had a variant called Romance Enthusiasts where ♥ gave 2 Reputation, but settled on the more universal Patrons one you see now.
And I did forget to go back and mention in the video that one scenario where you may want to give away a free book is if the Customer has the same suit as the Used Book. Your offered Book may be free, but it also nets you 1 Reputation. Otherwise, yes, the Exclusive Offer rule is normally a negative effect to play around.

Can you overpay or does it have to match exactly?
