    I love automatic mechanical movements. They are works of art. But I can't stand their inaccuracy, so I have become a lover of Quartz as well. This watch is nice!

  • @markn3586
    @markn3586 4 года назад +48

    It's important to point out that the SACM171 uses the previous generation Grand Seiko quartz movement. In essence you are buying Grand Seiko quartz accuracy at a highly affordable price point. Plus you don't have to send this one back to Japan to get the battery changed! Ticks off a lot of boxes that are hard to beat!

    The watch was "meh" until you started telling the specs, the smaller size and that thickness are wonderful on such a design. I have a 40mm all dial watch that wears like it's 45mm so I would guess this wears more like 37-38 which means it would fit perfectly in my wrist. A very beautiful and elegant watch

    I have seen many people having problems with the 6R15 movement, which powers now the major part of Seiko's Presage line and the Spirit (Here are included the SARB line, Sumo and others). The issue in these automatic movements seem to be that Seiko is choosing a low-quality balance and other materials, which reflects in a low amplitude of beat rate, compromising the watch accuracy and durability. There are many other problems with this movement, which people are having just a few months after buying it brand new. For a while I had the SARB033 and decided to sell it. For now I decided to buy this Seiko Dolce, as it seems to keep aside any fears of problems in the near future, considering the high quality quartz caliber, and for me just to have this comfort in mind is worth it. Thanks for the review I really appreciate it! Just ordered mine!

    • @JustBlueFish

      I have the same concerns with the lower range of automatic watches. I don't blame you for going for a reliable and accurate quartz caliber movement.

    It's beautiful. I have a Seiko quartz men men's dress watch from 1983 that measures only 30mm across and 5mm thick. I thought it may be a bit small at first but honestly after putting on my wrist, I just love it. It's light, thin, and unobtrusive. It's nice sometimes to just wear a watch that vanishes on the wrist.

  • @dancarrison9354
    @dancarrison9354 5 лет назад +8

    The wrist shot really helps. Like you, I'm a 36-38mm man, and 33.5 mm sounded way too small. But, it doesn't look that bad! I like the 3 yr battery life, as well.
    Kind of reminds me of the Pulsar PR-10, which was supposed to compete with other High Accuracy quartz movements (with a thermo-compensated quartz movement).
    Thanks for the review!

    I recently bought one from Sakura Watches in Japan (who gave great service btw). I really like the precision movement as well as the style. I also have a 34mm Omega Constellation Quartz Chronometer I've owned since new in 1981 and this Seiko sits well too on my slender wrist. I don't like 'reptilian' straps, so I am trying a couple of other options in place of the standard strap. Right now, I have put it on a polished milanaise mesh bracelet made by Junghans for their Max Bill ladies' watch, which I think goes well with it.

    Smallest watch I own is the Seiko SNK809. At 37mm and 18mm lugs it does feel a bit too small for m y 7" wrist. I like 38-40mm in most watches and 41-44 for dive watches. But the Dolce is a nice looking dress watch, and I was interested in Bulova's high beat quartz mostly for the extreme accuracy.

    • @JustBlueFish
      @JustBlueFish  7 лет назад

      I kinda like theses ultra accurate quartz movements. For watches I might only wear on certain occasions, knowing it will be running and accurate when I pull it out is nice.

  • @ats7485
    @ats7485 7 лет назад +3

    I love wafer-thin smaller dial watches. I try on dress/minimalist watches often and my impressions are that some get too understated, and become bland. Once you have one minimalist in sliver and one in gold, where do you go from there? This one needs just a little pop somewhere, maybe rose gold alternating with silver on the markers, or maybe the words written in a nice script font. To that end, I think the two tone crown helps, but not quite enough.

    • @JustBlueFish
      @JustBlueFish  7 лет назад

      This Seiko is definitely a very simple watch. I don't mind that, but I can see it wouldn't be for everyone. I tend to be attracted towards simpler designs, I rarely have multi-color or flashy watches. I guess I'm kind of boring lol.

    Thanks for the review Guy. I've been looking for info on this watch. I'm gravitating back to more traditional watch sizes. I was wearing a vintage 1960 Hamilton that comes in at 34mm and on my 6-3/4 wrist is pretty awesome looking. I have found that 38mm and below look best on me. It's so hard nowadays to find watches below 38mm.

    Bulova Precisionist and Longines VHP have similar accuracy and pricing. I own a Precisionist and it came in at being only 10 seconds off after over a year of wearing. I’m thinking this Seiko might be next high precision quartz piece.My Bulova Accutron from the 1960s has I believe a 35mm case…it’s pretty small and people always ask me if it’s a ladies watch, lol…so this watch is even smaller 🤔

    Precioso reloj que para entenderlo hay que pensar en los relojes de los años 60’, que difícilmente medían más de 35 mm...Pero éste pequeño prodigio de Seiko agrega a su estética de una sobria delicadeza, una pasmosa exactitud, ya que se desfasa apenas 10 seg al año!!

    ambas esferas son prácticamente iguales! Entonces en realidad no es que sea tan pequeño, simplemente el SKX tiene una carcaza más aparatosa, un dial más ancho etc etc. Pero en escencia, la esfera, los punteros y los marcadores equivalen. ¿No es así? it ain't too small for a dress watch especially compared to the SKX full size. (especially if our wrist size is under 7inch) there is also a skx smaller size which i thought originally you using the smaller SKX at 39mm or 38mm.... if this is the full skx at 42 or 43mm. it ain't too small at all. i have a King Seiko 1st gen at 35mm . it looks huge despite the size since the dial is fully maximize in a watch without much DIVER BEZEL at all.

    38 to 40 mm for me ... My daughter may like that size but I doubt it lol ... Good video ... That watch is not for me ...

      Ya it’s a bit small. I like a nice 36mm dress watch, but I didn’t find this to be too small at all.

      JustBlueFish In retrospect I have a 35 mm Waltham that was a gift from 1966 and it's only 35 mm and fits me very nicely ... The 33 mm just sounds small ...

      It’s honestly not to bad for my wrist. But if yours were much larger it might be.

    It's clearly a ladies watch. A very fine one.

      Try telling that to Mohammed Ali when he wore his Cartier Tank.

      It's clearly not. The ladies watch is the swdl209 which comes in at 24mm.
