    I dont know why ppl keep saying that both Sebs are retired. Ogier has not been away yet. He just finished a championship. Loeb has been the one in and out of the rallying. Plus Loebs last rally was in 2020. Ogiers mind is still fresh in the game. Loeb made no mistakes other than being too careful on the ice sections while Ogier risked it all. Still Ogier made many mistakes that could of ended his rally just to try and dominate a retired guy 9 years older than him. All this taken into consideration Loeb won the rally just by having a stronger more relaxed mind and focus. Incredible win. Used to seeing Ogier do this to other younger drivers.

      Loeb won by being Loeb. Ogier drives like Jesus, but Loeb is God.

    • @maciejmaciex819
      @maciejmaciex819 2 года назад +1

      But they are retired. Which Seb has been away is a different thing. Where do you see the mistakes that could have been rally ending? The footage here doesn't capture Ogier mistakes, and even if it did, it's stupid to judge that from a few clips. Let me also remind you that Ogier was 24,6s ahead of Loeb before the puncture in SS16. It lost him half a minute but still Loeb beat him by only 0,5 on the road. Loeb's drive was indeed insane at this age and after 9 years in retirement from active rallying in WRC and I'm massively impressed but let's be objective. You can't know what was inside Ogier's head so you can only make stuff up. I think it's also worth to take into consideration that with new cars it's a new start for everybody, but it wouldn't take anything away from Loeb.

    • @alvar891
      @alvar891 2 года назад

      @@maciejmaciex819 Ogier lost his cool in that rally. He smacked the barrier 2 times early on and had other close calls. Loeb only lost that time because he did not risk on the ice like Ogier did. That front puncture could of gone bad also was very lucky this whole rally. Loeb did not do any mistakes just kept his cool. Ogier was so stressed he made 2 mistakes in the end of the rally. Jumping the start and cutting too much. Not really a retirement for Ogier yet as he just came fresh from a full season. That only 0.5 came from Loeb not pushing anymore in the end. Its obvious that Loeb knew he jumped infront and got the penalty.

  • @chijik82
    @chijik82 2 года назад +69

    Interesting. It appears on this video that Ogier is much more aggressive at the exit of the corners and has a much more strict accelerator setup or shorter gears. Loeb instead is much smoother on the exists. Visually on these parts of the track, Ogier looks faster for me, but smoothness may give an advantage on other sections and on the slippery exits ...

      They should technically be slower. But they have a lot more go power out of the corners with the 130hp (or kw don't remember) of extra power with the hybrid.
      But they also have less downforce than last season so they won't be as fast in other areas. But in these condition with Monaco type snow tires and ice they probably have an advantage over last season

    @Lorenzo, big thanks for these "side by side" highlights. These two legends are a class above everyone else and are well-matched. But to me, Loeb seems to have more attack and, except for the moment at 04:07 where it was more slidy, the Puma seems to be better settled and hunched on the road than the Yaris. But I confess that I am much more partial to Loeb!

    • @okothobbo

      @blacknester Frankly, while my fan support goes to Loeb, I fundamentally recognize that Ogier had done everything to win this one handily. Even with the loss of time from the puncture in the penultimate SS, he was still pretty much on par with Loeb going into the final stage and although Loeb posted a faster time there than him, could still have won the race. Elsewhere, I have pondered the idea of a rule which would allow each finishing driver to drop a worst stage time in determining final positions. While there are evident potential unfairness and disadvantages with such a rule, something to equalize the other unfairness and disadvantages such as Ogier must feel should surely also be considered.

    • @okothobbo
      @okothobbo 2 года назад +1

      @Satanic Panic Fun and Games although the Puma is evidently taller and wider than its predecessor the Fiesta, I thought it was developed on the latter's platform? But is it any more gigantic or disadvantaged because of size than, say, the Hundyai i20? And, with a 1-3-5 finish in the Monte Carlo, it certainly did not do badly for itself at all. So, I will be interested to hear more of the concerns that you have for the car, not only for itself but also as compared with, say, the Yaris.

    • @okothobbo
      @okothobbo 2 года назад +1

      @blacknester A result is what it is at the end of the event, all the incidents, tyre punctures, errors, bad luck etc taken into account. "Ifs" cannot be taken into account for only one driver or team and not the other or others. In comparison to the "if" that you say about Evans, it could just as easily be said that if Loeb had made different tyre choices on the second day of the event, he would have continued to pull ahead of Ogier and all the others and would not have fallen behind. If Evans could have finished second if he had not gone off the road, why wouldn't Adrien Fourmaux have won the rally if he had not shunted on the first day? If Rovanpera or Solberg did not have their respective incidents, where would they have finished? As you can see, in the end it becomes a meaningless exercise of speculation. Most of all, however, I am puzzled by your reckoning that Loeb got up to speed off the bat in the Monte Carlo; the others did not yet do so or have not yet done so; but that they will do so in the races to come; while, somehow Loeb would remain stagnant and would be surpassed. It is not clear to me on what grounds and evidence this prognosis is based.

      Me vi toda la carrera. Lo que vi fue que Loeb fue muy rápido cuando el pavimento estaba seco. Loeb gano 6 etapas. Ogier era mas agresivo en las etapas donde había nieve con hielo. Loeb las pasaba muy despacio y por esa razón Ogier le aumento 21 segundos. Pero cuando corrían los 2 en etapas secas Loeb corrió igual o un poquito más rápido que Ogier. La victoria se la merecía Ogier pero se le poncho una llanta y por eso perdio. Loeb me impresionó mucho como corrió en las etapas secas donde no había hielo. Felicitaciones maestro, a Ford y a Msport 😀😀

      @21, I agree with your sentiment that the narrative that has been built around the two Seb "old men" given their performance in the Monte Carlo rally might give the impression that there are no young talents. But, there is no doubting the brilliance of the likes of Rovanpera and Solberg, both still only 21/20. Moreover, none of the other regulars is any kind of slouch and are all still quite young, with Greensmith, Fourmaux and Takamoto in their 20s and Breen, Mikkelsen, Neuville and Tanak in only their early 30s (Dani Sordo is I think close to 40?). So, I believe that fans of the sport can be confident that it is safe in very talented hands. And while I admit that I have been very excited this last weekend by the return of Loeb and his battle with his namesake, I do not support the notion that they should be reappear in the sport as its mainstay. It is the time of the youngsters and regulars who I have no doubt will no doubt grow even stronger than what we are seeing from them already.

    The real deal shows the imitation tribute act how its done. Ogier will NEVER, EVER, EVER be anywhere the level of utter god tier that Loeb is. In this video you can literally see how much faster and more controled Loeb is. The only reason Loeb doesnt compete full time anymore is because if he did he would embarrass everyone even now. Sebastian Loeb is the greatest driver the WRC will ever see. FACT.

    Great comparison! Loeb looks a bit awkward, like trying to tame the heavy muscle car.
