The best bit of advice I was given was not long after I started out was to charge as much as you can. Not every client buys on price. Anyone that asks me how much a job is before I have had a chance to think about it, I turn away. I charge plenty and that lets me invest more into the business.
Thanks Robbie, great advice. That’s something we could all learn from and do better. The first working day of January 2022, all my prices are going to be reviewed, 80% will be going up and customers notified. If I lose a few , so be it. Thanks for watching and your comment.👍🏻
I had a client like that recently Robbie, turns out he's a professor at Birmingham university on over £100, 000 a year. I tried explaining to him about the value I would bring to his garden, my 25 years of experience, public liability, etc. He just glazed over, so I said thank you for your time, but your not for us, onto the next one.
Thank you for inspiring me to push forward with a dream I have to become my own boss, work with mother nature and stop playing small. I just started getting into horticulture but came in as a farmer on a measly £10ph. The farmer had me doing the gardening side of things and boy was it a lot of work and I was there for a couple months before I became despondent from feeling exploited - hedgecutting huge hedges and walking away with £80 max is exploitation, so thank you Maxwell, also thank you to all of the gardeners commenting, all of your feedback and comments are like market research, thank you all so much. Claire xx
Hi Rob I started my own garden buisness about 4 years ago in the Northwest of England near Warrington and Liverpool areas and like you started £100 a day then following year £150,now in year 4 i make around £230-£250 per day on average mainly grass cutting on very good days can earn £300 + my best day was £330 in a day it is possible if you get the right type of gardens but one tip I have found is NEVER NEVER EVER undercut or compete on pricing with other gardeners just walk away if someone wants you to lower your prices just say no as I get so many gardeners phoning or texting me pretending to be potential customers trying to find out my prices its a hard job especially in summer months just know your value.
i have just started again after 10 years away. i do more than lawns if you add more to what you can do then you can earn alot more. i do the odd tree a week that adds on anywhere from £200-4k for a tree. hedges and ladder work is alot more in general i work 4 hours a day 5 days a week and take home over £200 in those hours i have worked as little as 2 hours and have made £3k its all about the right tools for the job and doing it efficiently and having the right training to do more than just lawns. I have one guy that does lawns for me and during the summer i aim for £400 a day as i get £250 for him going out as well as me working other jobs. There is plenty of ways to make more money than just lawns. A general garden clearance is £200 for a single man £350 for a 2 man team its all about pricing and knowing what job is worth what. I can do pretty much anything so i am lucky but you guys could make alot more with a few tickets. Bit of landscaping building sheds. I do planters mud kitchens all sorts just fill you're time with stuff that will make money i work 70 odd hours a week and have 3 kids so im always busy but i have paid off my house within 6 years but working this like so ill be able to chill soon and let people go work for me. Not bad going for someone thats only just started again for a years work. Not saying area but most weeks i am for £1500-£2000 i do alot of jobs. During the peak of last summer i wasn doing closer to £4500-£5000 a week with a 3 man team it easy done. Find old folks homes but they wont want petrol tools and same as contract work they dont want petrol tools and want to see all you're tickets for each tool. So the way i do things is advertise i have silent tools and the amount of calls i get is unreal cant keep up. Need about £5k-£6k for a decent bat set up that will last unless you're just a little solo guy then go for a lower range
do you charge by the job or by the hour? i feel like i could make a lot more if i charged for the job but i dont know if people will be mad that im only there for 30-40 minutes. im getting good customers who are always pleased with the results I just dont know how I can physically break past 100 a day without charging £20+ per hour which will just put me far too expensive in comparison for my area.
@@jackrbaugh5813 I have had 6 months experience working for a comapny and in my opinion, charging for the job is best, when you frist get 2 a garden you will probably spend more time getting the garden 2 a standard you like, then from after the first few times of going you would learn the garden and cut the time down.
Definately needs to be spoken about just started working for a landscaping company thinking of setting up for myself on the side till i can afford to take on a couple of guys.
Another good vid mate, nice for someone to be brave enough to talk money. Think your bang on with pricing, as you said before we shouldn't under value ourselves. You get what you pay for. 👍
Me too! I work in a bank and it's stressing me out. Wanted to do Landscaping/gardening for about 4/5 years now! Going for it in spring, but not looking forward to 'disappointing' my family by having an unstable wage. Gulp! (I'm 53 too!)
@@JohnM... How did it go? Are you still starting out soon? I’m 31 and felt the same, I left a well payed chef job to work in an office but the life doesn’t suit me. I’ve wanted to be an outdoor worker for years now, this year is when I will make the plunge. Do what makes you happy, in the long run your friends and family will be great full for that. To spend time with a happier man than a stressed man, a pleasure to be around no doubt. Go for it. Everyone needs to do what makes them happy and not just work for ‘the man’ they could replace you in a matter of days no doubt. Be true to yourself. I’m going to
Good tips mate 👍 good guidelines for anyone starting out. Things can increase even further for the right gardeners.. the ones who tidy up and close gates and smile. I too started out wth 2nd hand gear and reinvested all earnings while i had a day job.
Great information Rob a lot of people will benefit from your videos honestly and character is spot on. Tip for body recovery start taking cold showers 🥶 cold water therapy I use it daily and train daily it works wonders 🙏
Well im 16, i charge £20 an hour for my work and can earn £140 a day in no struggle which is massively more than my mates working at mcdonalds earaning £4.51 an hour . It was hard as some people struggle to trust someone with younger age however over time its got better. I have pulled off a £260 day before. It was a job i was charging £25 an hour and got a little tip aswell! Never again though, its really tiring!
Good advice to a young gardener starting up.As an idea of what it can look like at the other end im 61 and been going since 1993.£38.00 per hour £280.00 per day or there abouts and a lot of regulars plus one offs.im in south oxon so I guess it's a wealthier area as well...
Wow, what a diamond in the rough this video is. I’ve been watching gardening videos for tips etc more in the business side of things for many months, if not years. Finally have a decent bit of investment saved up to take the plunge in to the industry. This video really sealed it for me and gave me that final nudge to buy the basic equipment(second hand to start). What 5 tools would you recommend everyone starting out should have? I’ve got a mower and strimmer being delivered on Saturday so anything after those two pieces
Your brilliant bud. Two months ago I watched your videos and it's given me the inspiration to set out myself. Got a Stihl combi tool, motor strimmer blower and hedge cutter. I haven't looked back since. Paid off my investment and making profits now. My best day was, well two days. 13 hrs @ £500. So just shy of £37 an hour! Strimming & hedge cutting including digging up some beds. Thanks for the inspiration to get out and earn from the green gold!
This is the first video I saw of yours. I liked it and subscribed immediately. I liked your honesty. I’m from the US and never had a problem talking about what I make if someone asks me.
I am 68 years young the best route is to sit down go for big lawns ie ride on mowing Just look at the yanks So big contracts dont be scared but be prepared to spend/invest !!!
I'm clearly not a gardener, just barely manage to keep it tidy but if I was, I would find this very inspiring, honest and heartfelt. Great stuff as usual Rob.
Hiya great vid again! Love watching Ur channel! Would you think about doing a video that talks about what jobs you do/how to survive winter months running a self employed gardening business. I'm new to it and approaching my first winter. Thank you! X
Hi Rob, I think you’re honesty and open approach is spot on. I think a lot of us aren’t getting paid what we should because everyone is afraid to talk about money and salaries. Companies rely on the code of silence over salaries. Great video and thanks for sharing your experiences. Have a cracking weekend.
Well explained that, just don’t go too cheap on the van cos if that goes wrong then your stuck….is your new Wednesday job….expanding your RUclips channel….
Thanks for watching and your comment. You tube pays nothing. I haven’t received anything yet. I think I might get £20 per month. I don’t do affiliate links, tee shirts, or promote crap tools. I need to sleep at night. All the best.
Sensible and wise words once again Rob. You certainly attack things the right way round. I very fortunately retired five years ago today 09th September 2016 at the young age of 58. Within a year I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. You never know what’s around the corner!! But my wife and I are still able to look after my old mums large garden with a ride on John Deere mower once a week in season. I love it!
Thanks for the comment Trevor, I hope you are able to keep fit for years to come. Keep fighting and making your mums lawn look beautiful. All the very best.👍🏻
@@maxwellsgrasscuttingservices - Thanks Rob, there’s nothing better or more rewarding than standing back looking at a job well done. Wether it’s a very large garden or a tiny one, if it’s done with passion and commitment it can give you all the pleasure in the world!! Enjoyed every one of your videos.
Good vid, I'm currently at £175 per day ( south west uk ) for general gardening ( no hedges over 10m x 2m high ) and i dont cut any lawns for less than £35 per cut, so nearly there! - on the aches and pains i had this all the time till recently i started taking Seven Seas perfect man 7 vitamins...... honestly the best thing I've ever done, no more aches getting up in the morning and the energy levels are always right up there to push through and get the job done ( something i was terrible for not doing in one day ) , recommended 100% if you don't take anything!
Great video. I've just done a video myself talking about money and pricing. I find it so interesting and I feel like it's such a big help and motivation hearing the facts and figures 👍
@@maxwellsgrasscuttingservices Hi mate, similar I guess but I do lots of videos on my allotment as well. I have videos on schedule for the next few months so they've all been filmed and completed well in advance. So yeah, big coincidence on this last video as I completed that particular one a few weeks ago 🤷♂️
I built my earnings up over a few yrs and probably got to 2.2 to 2.5 on your 1 to 3 scale. And decided quiet quickly to rethink things after a huge tax bill! My accountant saying I either have to employ someone else or be more inventive as nothing will change because you can’t physically work More hours in a day as a sole trader. I now work a 4 day week have a 3 day weekend which is fab for the boat etc.... One change I have kept Which gives good money return is I run two sit on mowers which I cost out at £100 per hr. but with that comes Big bills maintenance and up keep . One mower is 3 yrs old and is the go to mower and the other is old and Shabby but is my back up and belief me you need it if your first mower develops a fault and you need to cut 2+ acres that day. Great video as always cheers Jules
Invest in a power washer I'd say always a wet day during the week and best time to do it.. so makes sense to have as a sideline 👌also decent money not as regular as grass cutting but can be fitted in that one day a week. Weed and feed treatments .Also knapsack sprayer drum of good weedkiller will be a good shout I'm sure you have customers who have weeds or stoned areas don't take much room in van and could charge £10 plus depending on job all adds up mate. Wish you all the best just subscribed 👍
Another really interesting video. For a skilled and qualified sole trader this is sound advice. I found switching to accounting software like quickbooks or zero saves hours of time and makes the end of year paperwork far easier. I suspect you're getting a ride on and taking on more commercial work.
Rob, I totally agree with your comments. I have now gone down to four days a week which gives me a long weekend to recover. Maybe next year will only do three days a week and I have a good reliable guy that will work the other two.
I would say a lot of customers and those potential think everything goes into the pocket. You say X amount per hour or for a job and a some compare to when they may have earned £5/11d for a full week! I've always tried to go by thirds too. Great video as always, honest and to the point!
Love it Rob been waiting for this video for some time great you've done it gives us all something to strive for . Am now in my 3RD year took on some help and lots of new customers so next season can go solo again stream line the business I am getting £100 a day but next season will be a £150 target. KEEP THEM COMING MATE
Brilliant video Rob Definitely something for me to think about, been going a year now. Still lots to learn , especially with pricing etc. I am in Hull, like the North East maybe less so the money isn’t here ……
I remember being so busy, especially in summer doing up to 14 hours per day that I dreaded anyone phoning me with more jobs. If I was to start doing it all again I'd certainly do it a bit more like the way you do yours. Having a spare day in the week is a good idea, although sometimes I had 'spare' days, which always ended up being filled. At my height I was around the £150-£175 area.
Thanks Craig, fingers crossed. Seriously when I first started I would have been happy with ten people watching. I am just a simple bloke , honest and try my best. No nonsense and I don’t chase views or money. All the best.👍🏻
Cracking video I am a professional photographer I would recommend everyone have a good website with plenty of images of their work before and after and include video for extra impact! You give great advice for all of us self employed.
I'm no gardener, but I've followed Rob's best tip - raise the blades and mow once a week and it looks great now compared to a month ago. Top man. And very good general advice in this video whatever business you are in.
I am so busy that spares days are no longer a thing. The way I make more money a day is to take on people and I take a cut of their earnings. I have only been going a year though so will see how my second year fairs. Great video.
Hi rob that was really interesting. You said you work Sunday what do you do Saturday. Great to hear what some gardens earned or try to earned. Great video 👍👍
Hello Carl. Only doing a Sunday whilst I manage the new commercial contract. In a few weeks that will be done on a Wednesday, after all pre booked one offs are complete. Next season I will look again at the working week. Thanks for watching and your comment.
Another great video Rob, i'm starting to hit around £175 a day for my grass cutting. Doing it part time along with my normal job has meant alot of hours but trying to get more customers in the same area to increase my income. I'm quite lucky at the minute as the furthest i have to travel to one of my customers is 6 miles from my house.
One huge aspect of charging is your expertise, especially if it comes with certificates. The vids on YT are all about lawns and hedges which are a big deal but not the whole. Generally I have found that when you do someones garden they want the whole lot done, with advice. This means weeding, types of plants, when to plant, pruning etc. If you can combine expertise with hard graft (and that's what professional gardening is) you will be onto a winner. Also if you can get plants cheap you can offer to plant up and charge the retail cost. I find the weeding, sweeping and general tidying is what takes the time so getting an accurate quate is essential. As has been said the bigger regular sites are the best as you don't have to spend your time traveling and lugging equipment about.
Great video Rob, thanks for the advice.. I am in the process of starting up myself so this advice helps. Will check out some more of your other videos.! Keep up the content.
Rob I enjoy your channel Your down to earth and say it how it is. I think 🤔 you will invest in power washing driveways and paths? If so I’m sure there’s plenty of money to be made Keep up the good content mate 👍🏻
Agree with concentrating your work close to home to cut out travel and ensuring that your machinery is good and well maintained. I purchased a trailer to get going and still run with it. Most of it is common sense. I used flyers to carpet bomb certain areas and since the initial drop all work has been word of mouth.
If your a good tradesman have good morals and are fair with your customer you will make money and not go short of work. So what does it really matter what other people make as long as your happy. I personally think that you enjoy making these videos mate they make you happy and give you lots of comfort and good on you but LOL as long as your sat in your van making videos your not out of your van cutting grass and making money but people enjoy your content so everything is good
Having a garden business can be well worth it but you need to think about the method how to cut the lawns how to put equipment in your van in the right order and the route you take. All these can safe you time and the. That leads you earning more. For instance get a least 50 costumers with different size of gardens and some that needs winter maintenance and you will easily reach the £200 aday
Fair play. My mate has been working for the past however many years on £120 a day doing carpentry, painting, decorating and general house maintainence and I keep telling him he's too cheap - no wonder he is so busy!
Rob ur a good man. Cut down ur travel time and focus ur customers in one area is one way. Another is keep ur customer base and grow it but take someone one even a student over the summer holidays when grass grows the most. While u mow they strim and leaf blow. Get a bigger mower. So many service u can offer pressure washing weed killing. On the commercial side u can salt their foot paths in winter. People are getting lazy around their houses.
You made some really good points mate. I started 2 years ago and definitely made some mistakes along the way & still do! Honestly the biggest mistake being hourly rates. Can earn so much more just pricing per job. It was really cool listening to you talk about all this, I feel like I’m at the same stage as you, keep well mate
Good advise here..dont set your prices too low, you'll make it difficult for yourself to increase them..subscriptions are essential for me...laying small lawns on new builds is very profitable, however hard graft...
what a great honest video,it annoys me when so called professionals turn up in fancy vans all the gear but no idea but expect people like me to keep them in their luxury but wouldn't look at you in the pub friday night even though that beer they are quaffing you paid for
Excellent advice ass usual, nice and honest advice from your personal perspective, all we can do is use your advice to our advantage & improve ourselves 👍😎
Compactness of your round is key, less travel=higher earnings. As a Window Cleaner our businesses are very similar, I work Monday to Thursday on the glass and occasional Fridays with add-on like conservatory roofs upvc gutters etc. You could buy a day's work and cheap Water fed pole set up and clean windows and it's a longer season. Just a thought, (and it might be personal preference) why do you do your one-offs on a Wednesday and not Friday, only I was thinking you might struggle to finish your regular gardening work later in the week if you get a bad run of weather. Anyway great channel and enjoy watching you👍
I can totally relate to this video, I’m on year one of my grass cutting business and it’s certainly been an eye opener for me. Machinery upgrade are a wee while away for me. Always on you tube picking up tips from fellow professionals. Keep on cutting 😂
Mate, great video and helps me think clearer about my future. I’m in one of those posh areas you mention in your videos 😂 Oxfordshire. Anyway, please keep yourself busy and thank you for you’re videos. Seeing your vlogs helps me be less fearful once I finish in the military.
@@maxwellsgrasscuttingservices Cheers buddy. I’ve been running my gardening part time now for over a year and I was all for petrol kit only. I don’t know if you’ve tried them yet, but battery hand held hedge trimmers are so good. I’ve put all my petrol to retirement as my Stihl battery kits run all day and so much lighter for the old shoulders and arms. If you’ve not already given one ago I highly recommend it buddy.
Hi Rob great video , I've been a gardener on the Isle of Wight 15 years and most of my customers I've had for years , problem is they all ask how much I charge per hour as they want to budget most don't like pricing per job and most of them won't pay more than £15 pH for general maintenance , I would like to do more grass only ones so I can charge per job and people don't seem to mind paying more for grass but that's easier said than done as since covid so many people are doing it maybe it's the area or I need to change what I'm doing as I don't feel it's working for me anymore seeing what your earning from it has confirmed this .
Thank you , I'm going to learn from your advice and try to turn things around a bit more and look into trying to get some grass only ones and see if I can price differently when I get new gardens , many thanks and happy new year to you 👍
well done Rob spot on … Main points is know your non billable hours so you can factor them in to your charge out rate .. Having a daily figure is a must we have different expectations but what ever it is try to increase that with min physical effort. work smarter not harder is the key If your smart Rob you will follow us old blokes and get your arse in the seat of a ride on … I suspect you have that on your list lol , easy work very good money … Enjoyed your video as always . a credit to our industry.

I need to up the daily business and maintain it like, just had loads of luck against me lately (2 forced house moved in 9 months, one place had no signal in peak season!), oh and 2 sprained ankles this year haha, mowers make good Zimmer frames but high ladders and digging out! Great video Rob. Your a natural in front of the camera. Some people are saying its pressurewashing your going at on Wednesdays. I doubt it.

Thanks for watching and your comment. Good luck with your business. 👍🏻
Rob you be have been a great help me . Love the channel. Thanks mate
Thanks very much .
Another good vid mate, nice for someone to be brave enough to talk money. Think your bang on with pricing, as you said before we shouldn't under value ourselves. You get what you pay for. 👍
Thanks James appreciate your comment.👍🏻
Been wanting to start my own for nearly 2 years now and finally bitting the bullet
These videos have been a massive help keep it up pal
Thanks for watching and your comment. Good luck with your business.👍🏻
Thanks Shaun , we all start at the bottom then the only way is up.👍🏻
Great information Rob a lot of people will benefit from your videos honestly and character is spot on. Tip for body recovery start taking cold showers 🥶 cold water therapy I use it daily and train daily it works wonders 🙏
Thanks Andy, I will try it.👍🏻
Well im 16, i charge £20 an hour for my work and can earn £140 a day in no struggle which is massively more than my mates working at mcdonalds earaning £4.51 an hour . It was hard as some people struggle to trust someone with younger age however over time its got better. I have pulled off a £260 day before. It was a job i was charging £25 an hour and got a little tip aswell! Never again though, its really tiring!
Good luck Dominic.
Good advice to a young gardener starting up.As an idea of what it can look like at the other end im 61 and been going since 1993.£38.00 per hour £280.00 per day or there abouts and a lot of regulars plus one offs.im in south oxon so I guess it's a wealthier area as well...
Thanks Stephen. All the best to you .
Thanks for watching and your comment. Good luck with your business. Let me know how you get on.👍🏻
Your brilliant bud.
That’s outstanding, congratulations. All the best.👍🏻
This is the first video I saw of yours. I liked it and subscribed immediately. I liked your honesty. I’m from the US and never had a problem talking about what I make if someone asks me.
Thanks for watching and your comment. Welcome.👍🏻
Love your honest, down to earth approach to everything Rob. Keep up the great work 👍
Thanks, appreciated.👍🏻
I am 68 years young the best route is to sit down go for big lawns ie ride on mowing Just look at the yanks So big contracts dont be scared but be prepared to spend/invest !!!
Thanks Allan, it’s a consideration.

I'm clearly not a gardener, just barely manage to keep it tidy but if I was, I would find this very inspiring, honest and heartfelt. Great stuff as usual Rob.
Thank you for your kind words. All the very best.👍🏻
Hiya great vid again! Love watching Ur channel! Would you think about doing a video that talks about what jobs you do/how to survive winter months running a self employed gardening business. I'm new to it and approaching my first winter. Thank you! X
Thanks Jo, have a look at this.

Cheers Alan, all the best.👍🏻
Very true.
Cracking video , refreshing to hear another gardener from the north east.
Thanks for watching and your comment, it’s appreciated.👍🏻
Well explained that, just don’t go too cheap on the van cos if that goes wrong then your stuck….is your new Wednesday job….expanding your RUclips channel….
Thanks for watching and your comment. You tube pays nothing. I haven’t received anything yet. I think I might get £20 per month.

Thanks again Trevor.👍🏻
Good vid, I'm currently at £175 per day ( south west uk ) for general gardening ( no hedges over 10m x 2m high ) and i dont cut any lawns for less than £35 per cut, so nearly there! - on the aches and pains i had this all the time till recently i started taking Seven Seas perfect man 7 vitamins...... honestly the best thing I've ever done, no more aches getting up in the morning and the energy levels are always right up there to push through and get the job done ( something i was terrible for not doing in one day ) , recommended 100% if you don't take anything!
Thanks for that. I may try it. All the best to you.
how old are you james, im starting to ache now at almost 40.
Great video. I've just done a video myself talking about money and pricing. I find it so interesting and I feel like it's such a big help and motivation hearing the facts and figures 👍
You certainly have. Your content is very close as is your thumbnails. Must be a coincidence.
Good luck with your channel and business, I wish you every success.👍🏻
I built my earnings up over a few yrs and probably got to 2.2 to 2.5 on your 1 to 3 scale.
And decided quiet quickly to rethink things after a huge tax bill! My accountant saying I either have
to employ someone else or be more inventive as nothing will change because you can’t physically work
More hours in a day as a sole trader.
I now work a 4 day week have a 3 day weekend which is fab for the boat etc.... One change I have kept
Which gives good money return is I run two sit on mowers which I cost out at £100 per hr. but with that comes
Big bills maintenance and up keep . One mower is 3 yrs old and is the go to mower and the other is old and
Shabby but is my back up and belief me you need it if your first mower develops a fault and you need to cut
2+ acres that day.
Great video as always cheers

Thanks Jules, appreciate your comment.👍🏻
Wow! What a bloody good video!
Thanks rob! I’m just looking to start out, I’ve got two clients currently on the side of full time work
Thanks for watching Gav. All the best with your new business.👍🏻
Great video bud. Everything you’ve said is exactly how it works. Do you not work a Saturday morning. I call it my weekend money!
I sometimes do a Saturday if I need to catch up because of poor weather. All the best.
Your spot on , thanks for your comment and watching. All the best.👍🏻
Another really interesting video. For a skilled and qualified sole trader this is sound advice.
I found switching to accounting software like quickbooks or zero saves hours of time and makes the end of year paperwork far easier.
I suspect you're getting a ride on and taking on more commercial work.
Thanks Adam, appreciate your comment.👍🏻
Rob, I totally agree with your comments. I have now gone down to four days a week which gives me a long weekend to recover. Maybe next year will only do three days a week and I have a good reliable guy that will work the other two.
Thanks for watching and your comment, getting a decent member of the team is so difficult. All the very best.👍🏻
I would say a lot of customers and those potential think everything goes into the pocket. You say X amount per hour or for a job and a some compare to when they may have earned £5/11d for a full week! I've always tried to go by thirds too. Great video as always, honest and to the point!
Thanks Tony, appreciate your comment. All the best.👍🏻
Winter switch to patio/decking pressure washing, gutter clearing and at christmas make log reindeer 👍😎

Love it Rob been waiting for this video for some time great you've done it gives us all something to strive for . Am now in my 3RD year took on some help and lots of new customers so next season can go solo again stream line the business I am getting £100 a day but next season will be a £150 target. Definitely something for me to think about, been going a year now.
Still lots to learn , especially with pricing etc.
I am in Hull, like the North East maybe less so the money isn’t here ……
You go for it , thanks for watching and your comment.👍🏻
Thanks Rob, This is so useful and appreciated.
Thank you .
Thanks for your comment, appreciate it.👍🏻
14 hour day for £11-13 an hour was the Pinnacle of your business. STARMAN!!😃
Mint video rob! Top guy, RUclips will get you to that 30k and beyond your very watchable, love that you're from NE man!

This is really good advice for anyone that works in the landscaping business

Another great video Rob, i'm starting to hit around £175 a day for my grass cutting. Doing it part time along with my normal job has meant alot of hours but trying to get more customers in the same area to increase my income. I'm quite lucky at the minute as the furthest i have to travel to one of my customers is 6 miles from my house.
Really pleased for you Matty, good luck with your business and continued success.👍🏻

Thanks mate appreciate your comment and thanks for watching.👍🏻
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences , all the best.
Great video Rob, thanks for the advice.. I am in the process of starting up myself so this advice helps. Will check out some more of your other videos.! Keep up the content.
Thanks Nicky. I wish you well with your business.👍🏻
Yes Rob 👏👏👏👏 no need to be shy about the money it's what we all doing it for ........

Your down to earth and say it how it is. I think 🤔 you will invest in power washing driveways and paths? If so I’m sure there’s plenty of money to be made
Keep up the good content mate 👍🏻
Thanks Carl, it’s not power washing. All the best.👍🏻
Agree with concentrating your work close to home to cut out travel and ensuring that your machinery is good and well maintained. I purchased a trailer to get going and still run with it. Most of it is common sense. I used flyers to carpet bomb certain areas and since the initial drop all work has been word of mouth.
Thanks for watching and your comment Craig. Every day is a school day. All the best.
If your a good tradesman have good morals and are fair with your customer you will make money and not go short of work. So what does it really matter what other people make as long as your happy. I personally think that you enjoy making these videos mate they make you happy and give you lots of comfort and good on you but LOL as long as your sat in your van making videos your not out of your van cutting grass and making money but people enjoy your content so everything is good
Gary , the video is 13 minutes long. Not really going to eat into my day.
I do like the crack on you tube . All the best.👍🏻
Thanks Robert, appreciate your comment.👍🏻
Fair play. My mate has been working for the past however many years on £120 a day doing carpentry, painting, decorating and general house maintainence and I keep telling him he's too cheap - no wonder he is so busy!
Thanks for watching George, tell your friend to increase his prices by 10 percent. There ate lots of busy cheap people around. All the best.👍
Great comment, something to think about.👍🏻
I do like your videos taken me back when I have started up to run my handyman service.

I agree James , a free day works. Ie one offs, rained off etc. All the best.👍🏻
From South east london!
Thanks for watching and your comment. I wish you well with your business. Every day is a school day.👍🏻
Good advise here..dont set your prices too low, you'll make it difficult for yourself to increase them..subscriptions are essential for me...laying small lawns on new builds is very profitable, however hard graft...

Hi Rob great video , I've been a gardener on the Isle of Wight 15 years and most of my customers I've had for years , problem is they all ask how much I charge per hour as they want to budget most don't like pricing per job and most of them won't pay more than £15 pH for general maintenance , I would like to do more grass only ones so I can charge per job and people don't seem to mind paying more for grass but that's easier said than done as since covid so many people are doing it maybe it's the area or I need to change what I'm doing as I don't feel it's working for me anymore seeing what your earning from it has confirmed this .
Sorry to hear that things are going well. Fingers crossed for a great 2022. All the best. 👍🏻

Thanks Carl, I agree we have to get the balance right. All the best.👍🏻

Hi rob that was a quick reply. Why do you do that work on Saturday then Sunday thou. I’m working seven days a week at the moment to get everything done in the week and try and keep all customers happy 😀
Sat having a beer , trying to catch up with emails and replying to subscribers.
The factory is quiet on Sundays, no cars for obstructions .
I normally only work Mon - Fri.
