this particular predator did respect and honor the code. he was willing to battle to the death on an equal plain field with his opponent. that shows respect.
The leader of this particular hunting party, the Berserker, later showed that he has no regard for the Predator Honour code when he faced the Crucified Predator in solo combat, using his Plasma caster to disorient him before decapitating him.
There's just something so blissfully amazing here. A bad blood predator, a killer amongst their own kind and dishonored by his choices facing a yakuza, a criminal, fighting a proper duel. Through the whole movie the sense these predator's are different, dishonorable hunters only hunting for the sport and the game and nothing more, until we get to this moment, where honor is all that matters. It's amazing to look at it and see these two equal one another in a fair fight, death's that were earned and likely something that truly redeemed this predator and yakuza.
it just comes to show. even if there bad guys in the world. some in heart still have some honor in them. this movie is a example that some are not 100% evil.
My favorite scene from this kick-ass movie! The original Predator will always be the best but this movie is veryyy good and extremely underrated! Love when Hanzo stops running and decides its time to man up one on one. He knows the predator is trailing them and most likely everyone will die so he gives the others a chance by standing up to him. When he takes his shirt off and draws his sword you realize for the first time how deadly he his.
It's a show of dominance and to see who is the superior warrior. The predator let him get up to score honor points which would make his trophies worth more as it would have been won through fair 1v1 combat and not through trickery. However if you see the movies the predator almost always dies because of human survival instincts and tricks.
@@maxwellsope1080 basically the Preditors morals & honor get him killed by humans, because most humans can't square off with him so they have to do cheap shots. Which is understandable.

Fucking Hell. People are gonna start appreciating this film a LOT more once it sinks in JUST how badly The Predator sucked.

Most likely representing a Sengo Muramasa era blade (yōtō "cursed katana") Muromachi Period 14th through 16th centuries. Moreover this may be the Fujiwara Masazane sword called Inoshishi-giri "boar-slayer", as Masazane was a disciple of Muramasa. Muramasa blades have to draw blood before they can be returned to the scabbard, even to the point of forcing its wielder to wound himself or commit suicide in the process. Thus, it is thought of as a demonic cursed blade that creates uncontrollable bloodletting to those who wield it.
I know a lot of people are mixed on this movie, but I really love it. It had a lot of call backs to the original while also adding something new and building on it. The characters are fine, but if they were more iconic, I would even go as far to say this is the "Aliens" of the predator series.
Everytime I see this film, I am always thinking, "Come on Hollywood...after how well Prey did showcasing a predator at a certain era, Samurai vs Predator is a no brainer!"
I can see just how inspired the motions are by more of a Kendo match than traditional duel. Which makes sense, because modern Japanese find Kendo extremely popular and the few that master kenjutsu commit their lives to it, so a Yakuza fighting with a sword using Kendo techniques makes plausible sense and explains why the Yakuza is getting struck in the back after his attacks, because they don't train to strike their opponents back as they run by, but come out of range and turn around for the next exchange.
ŚϺIEƧZEK The saber is a lighter, shorter weapon with a larger guard, designed for one handed use, usually from horseback. The katana is a longer weapon designed for two handed use, usually unmounted. A well made saber will also tolerate abuse that would destroy a katana. Katanas were notably sharper than most cavalary sabers as well, but would not have been noticeably sharper than a well-cared for personal saber, which also used drawing cuts. A sabre is lighter, and used well, can be faster. However, since it is wielded with one hand, you can not put as much force behind it, and it is easier to disarm. A good saber fencer will have a reach advantage, as a one handed grip allows for incredible range on lunges. The longer blade on a katana helps extend their range, but not usually past a wrist or arm cut. Sword is a generic term used to describe any longish piece of sharpened metal. A Roman Gladius, a Scottish Claidheamh-mòr, a Spanish Rapier, and a Pirates Cutless are all "swords".
The eye for an eye technique. The only way to get to the enemy with a swift strike of death is to make your self vulnerable. In this instance, he payed with his life for the life of the predator. True samurai art.
I always was interested that Billy was apparently still no match for the predator. He seemed to be in touch with nature and uniquely with the predator in the way Billy chose a sword as his weapon against the predator, and how he cut himself down the chest as if to draw the Predator in. I was disappointed he didn't do some damage to the Predator. But then again maybe that would have been cliche.
Yeh the predator wanted Dutch more so it chose a dishonourable way to kill billy which pissed me off love that film would of been good if they had an intense duel where billy weakened the predators
@@tonyaviles5308 If the predator was just cloaked and killed Billy, he wouldn't have time to scream like that, he'd just be dead from the long range weapon.
Maybe the jungle predator was much more skillful than this one. Remember how arnold hit him with a large piece of wood and it shattered on contact with his hand?
Though not literally, Hanzo avenged Billy Sole and King Willie in spirit by not only having his melee fight shown, but was able to defeat a Predator head on in a fair fight with human weaponry. Dutch, Royce/Isabelle, and Naru all used traps and cunning to their advantage, Harrigan was able to severely weaken it with conventional firepower before defeating it with its own weapons, and Nikolai used a mine in a suicide maneuver, but Hanzo actually managed to hold his ground against a full-strength Predator armed with only a katana.
I was thinking that as well when I first saw this movie and remembered that the Japanese took a lot of care and really focused on quality when crafting their katanas.
Wish they did this kinda thing more often in movies. In Red Sun, a Charles Bronson flick a Samurai fought an American Indian. Movie was based in the 1880's I think. Really kool to see different cultures go up against each other.
LOVE this reference Billy and King Willie would be proud. Billy, and King Willie both knew the predator was around before anyone else. Both knew they were being stalked and when confronted the predator they drew out weapons. Billy his machete and Willie his cane sword. Finally we got to see a battle like this
just because they don't follow the normal rules doesn't mean they can't respect maybe one tradition now and then and to the other dude it was an Honourable duel it was swords only
I've always been curious if the predators admired the ancient samurai's or ninjitsu warriors. Because all of the predators melee weapons and some thrown weapons look like weapons from asia. Throwing stars, wrist attached blades, spears, nets etc. I guess predators found their match. If humanity wants to defeat the predators, train an army of samurai warriors or ninjitsu artists then send them after the predators. Samurai will fight up front, ninja's will hunt the predators like they hunted humans. A few poisonous darts and shurikens should do the trick. They call ninjitsu the art of invisibility.
I love this part not only because it's badass. But also as a compensation to us from the 1st predator movie who failed us to deliver Billy's one on one fight with the predator.
Coolest scene in the movie. Both sides got their honourable and fair trade counts. I guess this is why the Predators like to hunt us, for the ones who dare challenge them and offer a good fight (I can think of some knights, vikings, samurai, etc in the past, even modern soldiers maybe in different way than pure one-on-one sword fight).
This is the only real man in all the movies, taking down the predator in a 1 vs 1 fight with no more than a katana. compared to him, the other human Warriors are just a bunch of nenas
I love the fact that every predator will fight his threat fairly You are unarmed? They will fight with fists You have a melee weapon? They use their claw blades You have a gun? They use their blaster You outnumber them? They use all of their equipment
the badass moment ever .the storage of weapons since old ages .. show that this predators used to bring warriors fromm all the time ... this monster realized that the man use sword and he could use that energy gun but he refused this moment of honor .... i miss this kind of movies....
"Dorobo, gyanbura, kira, seek redemption in this moment as Muramasa grants yuuki upon you. " [btw did you see how many predators were watching the fight?]
By far the greatest scene out of the entire movie. Not only is the Predator showing honor to his opponent, but to himself. Normally, a coward would just kill someone on the spot, with a gun to a sword fight, thinking he’s the bigger than the other person, but the actual big and strong fighters and people, would play fairly and would lower themselves to the challenger. The Predator could’ve stayed hidden and sneak up and kill him, but no, he saw the challenge and took it, revealing himself and his sword. The Predators might seem ruthless (which they are) but they honor themselves and respect the courage of the opponent. Great scene, beautiful demonstration.
So hunting down and killing people who have never hunted YOU down is "honorable"?? The Predators are just psychotic idiots, who could ve spent FAR more time improving their own technology and culture instead of pointlessly killing others for zero reason. Those "cowards" you speak of are basically the entirety of humanity.War was never fought with honor because those who fought honorably died to those who didnt.VERY few armies or soldiers fought honorably, the rest remembered honor and fair play only when it suited them. The average warrior(be he viking, knight, samurai, roman) abused the hell out of his equipment and power to pillage rape and kill. There is nothing glorious in combat and war, only death.People who fight honorably die to people who just shoot them from afar, from behind or in the dark.Honor would be to try to prevent a fight from happening, not to try and be honorable when it happens.
cyclopsdias You’re very correct on saying that humanity is basically abusing its power and cheating to victory, but I'm having a hard time why you are connecting two different species and their history's, it's like comparing apples and oranges. Also, the Predators do hunt for a reason, to 1. Prove said species are worthy or weak 2. To kill off any dangerous life forms but use it as a sport. Now, I'm not saying that the Predators are doing any right, no far from it, but I do not agree with your statement that they’re ”idiots”. They have fantastic technology greater than our own, and I'm very sure that idiots don't make technology that makes them practically invisible, or have weapons just with there armor. And correct, wars don't have or bring honor, instead, the fierce soldiers within those grounds do (depending on the man or woman). That's also speaking for the former Vikings, knights, samurai, or Roman Soldiers, some we're graceful men, others, well, not so much. And one thing that is glorious in war is the impact, experience, and lessons within it. Lessons to learn from past mistakes and experiences that will live within the impact to its people. Honor is respect earned with courage and strength.
Most soldiers were far from graceful or honorable. The vast majority was simply ruthless killers, who were hired and paid to kill and destroy.Neither wars nor the soldiers who fought them brought honor to anyone. That's just a lie invented by those who started the war to justify them, since it's a FAR prettier excuse than admitting the economical or geopolitical causes of a war. Sure a war brings lessons and advancements, but its ridiculous to assume that war is the ONLY way through which we could have those experiences.Humanity would be far better off if we hadn't fought so much and instead spent that time and energy trying to advance sciences, democracy or philosophy. As for the soldiers, war is hell, especially for the loser. There is no grace or honor in seeing your friends die from infections or being dismembered,or being forced to witness brutalities inflicted upon innocents. As for the Predators, some of their tech is more advanced than ours, but their ability to fight large scale wars is questionable at best.A single Predator was easily wounded by an unprepared squad of soldier.Predators fighting a real army with specialised equipment to track or study them would quickly be obliterated. As for their hunting, their so called honor comes into question instantly since the first Predator we see abused his cloak and blaster to ambush unsuspecting prey which was neither dangerous to others nor threatening to him. They treat Aliens as sport instead of as a serious infectious threat that should be dealt with seriously. They are selfish, cruel savages who obsess over a hunt.Honor, according to them,is simply providing the prey with a relatively fair fight.I believe honor is a far superior ideal that includes doing whats right even if it's not easy or cheap to do.
Like you said, MOST soldiers are killers and don’t care, well, that’s exactly what they are killers! Sure they may bring justice, but it’s no respect or grace. And I’m not saying “War is the ONLY way to be taught lessons and use those experiences” No, I’m simply stating that we CAN learn from them and learn not to do simple mistakes that can lead to huge wars. And yes, we don’t need wars to settle things, we could be more mature and talk it through. Sadly, most of the times we do have to go to war if our under that pressure. Sure it’s risking soldiers’ lives, but they knew what they signed up for, and that’s what makes them have honor and respect, they risk their lives to protect ours. But, I’m not necessarily talking about human soldiers, because they are different from our current conversation, Predators. I agree that Predators can and will be ruthless and killers, but I wasn’t exactly talking about them as a culture or group, so my apologies if you thought otherwise, I was talking about the Predator in the scene/video. I loved how he didn’t shoot him, rather bring his “sword” and accept his challenge. That was great and powerful in my eyes, and in a way, honoring to his species! You might think differently, but I feel like he was being better than his fellow peers, and actually fighting instead of shooting. Also, they don’t need to fight any “large-scale wars” due to them being hunters. Yes, they’re warriors, but not your topical warrior that fights in wars, they battle a group of different species to see who’s the higher superior. They are more fighting than anything else. It’s not big or medium, it’s small. So, yes, they would be killed if in an actual war. But, I believe they would put up a good fight due to their above average combat skills. And, for the hiding and acting prey, I’m not sure if you’re talking about when they see dead animals, and the Predator attacks the squad, then, yes, by my description, that Predator is not honorable, but then again, he’s hunting, so he kind of needed his cloak the same reason soldiers wear camouflaged suits to hide from their enemies. And your claim that they should treat other aliens and species seriously is strictly preposterous, hell, we don’t even treat others seriously. But, if they’re savages and ruthless like you claim, which they can be, then why would they try to have peace? And why would they treat humans as a threat? Compared to them, they are more of a threat. Sure we have intelligence and strength, but they’re above us in that by an extent. As for your description of honor, I feel, is very good. In a way, I feel that the Predator showed that characteristic in a certain way. I think outside the scene and go a bit deep into it. Like I stated, he gave a fair fight, he didn’t shoot him like his previous peer did, so he was a diamond in a rough. Out of all the cruel Predators, he showed a certain respect. That respect being toward his courage, which was given through a fair fight. Which, I give my respect and grace to anyone who does that, or any stunning acts, whether it be small or big, tough or easy.
First of all, thanks for keeping this very interesting conversation civil. Its very refreshing to have a civilised discussion on RUclips. As for your points, when i said most soldiers are killers,I meant professional soldiers.A big percentage of people who fought on world war 2 for example, weren't professional soldiers and in quite a few cases, were drafted against their will,so I feel sorry for their lives. However, professional soldiers like for example the US army when they were in Vietnam or Afghanistan etc get no sympathy from me.They didn't go there to protect anyone. They went for economical and political gains,as well as a show of force. This type of war is the one I am talking about. Most wars in human history were caused by greed and lust for power, not because someone rightly defended their territory from an intruder. Therefore, most soldiers who fought in these wars knew full well they were going to murder innocents, yet they went through with it anyway. Not to mention that in the older ages, elite soldiers like Knights or Samurai were nobles and very well paid to fight, they did so for the riches and violence it brought, not because they were defending anyone. In general, late wars have proven that an ever increasing percentage of casualties in wars are civilians.I recommend this:en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civilian_casualty_ratio as a small sample of how many die in wars.As much as soldiers die in a war, they CAN fight back and are usually protected by their own forces.Civilians get no such luxury since they dont know how to fight and they dont have countermeasures in case an enemy army approaches and blasts them away(which,as indicated by their casualties,is a LOT of the time). So soldiers are by and large the force that kills civilians, not protects them.Civilians wouldn't need protection if the war that kills them wasn't being fought. As for the Predators, you are right, the one in the video behaved honorably and fought a fair fight(which is admirable). However, this fight was caused by his abduction and mistreatment of humans.I cant congratulate someone on doing something right when the situation in which they do right is caused by them doing wrong(abducting and using humans,an intelligent species,as sport).I feel its like congratulating a murderer for not killing children, despite killing others. But agreed, given the behavior of other Predators,he was(compared to them) an honorable individual,at least in this instance.

We didn't see Billy's fight. Granted it wasn't long.
All I remember is Billy screaming like a little beeitch.
Billy didn't fight.. he gave himself to predator because he knew they were going to die anyway...

I love these Predators’ code of honor
which is funny when you consider these was a clan of criminal predators
Edmond666777 how do you know
this particular predator did respect and honor the code. he was willing to battle to the death on an equal plain field with his opponent. that shows respect.
those super bad blooded Yaujta oh yep no code of honor

I like how the predator lets him get up, rather than just finishing him off.
@@maxwellsope1080 what if the man had defeated predator? Would they allow him to go?

Everyone at the movie theater was cheering at the end of this scene
Hanzo wasn’t just another prey, he was a warrior and the Predator acknowledged that fact by providing a fair fight
Imagine being a FOX executive, looking at this movie (And this scene in particular) and thinking "Instead of a sequel, lets make a remake with magic Autism superpowers, 'your mom' jokes and Super Killer Predator Iron Man suits."
Fucking Hell. People are gonna start appreciating this film a LOT more once it sinks in JUST how badly The Predator sucked.
Yepp, I hated this movie when it came out, But softened to it afterwards, when i warmed up to the Bad blood predators, and the entertaining premise
But, The Predator makes this seem like high art
@North Bridge prey was a Terrible female power fantasy. Didn't feel like a predator movie at all. I don't see how you think it put it back on track..
With the success of Prey, I am now hoping to see a Predator film during the Age of Samurai in Japan.
Both Hanzo and the badblood redeemed their honor that day.
The only way a man can see himself. To fight against his most dangerous enemy.
i like this scene it describes the Real Brave. While others using machine guns and bullets this yakuza used his katana
One of the greatest scenes ever, a warrior going out with a honourable death
So I see that Hanzo is the silent katana wielding Yakuza I must say I'm impressed
Must of been hitori hanzo steel 🤷🏽♂️
What explanation did this Yakuza give Hanzo for the sword now that Bill is dead? Gotta fight an other worldly assassin?
@@justBeOrDontB7568 Maybe he got his sword before hanzo retired.
Jajajajajaja.
Everytime I see this film, I am always thinking,
"Come on Hollywood...after how well Prey did showcasing a predator at a certain era, Samurai vs Predator is a no brainer!"
The both gave it their all as honorable warriors and I'm proud that the Samurai was still standing before his death

The saber is a lighter, shorter weapon with a larger guard, designed for one handed use, usually from horseback.

Michael Zaloom but that predator that killed Billy didn't fight him. He was probably cloaked and just killed him. It doesn't really show.

Its a modern Katana. Modern technology allows us to make stronger swords than those made hundreds of years ago.

I’m shocked this bad blood predator even chose to duel this guy. Cause bad bloods are all about hunting and no honor and respect.

One of the best samurai scenes in film history.
And I’m not saying “War is the ONLY way to be taught lessons and use those experiences” No, I’m simply stating that we CAN learn from them and learn not
to do simple mistakes that can lead to huge wars.
Challanged the predetor to a sword combat and he accepted the challange. AWWWSOME!
The most honorable fight of them all.
