How to make bird's nest jewelry

- EDIT: To get strait to the tutorial skip to 3:00, I spend a bit of time talking about tools and supplies at the beginning, what kids of wire ect. so if you want to skip that bit I don't mind:) This technique is super fun and addictive! You will need craft wire (20-24 gauge) beads and a pair of pliers and wire cutters. These finished "birds nests" can be used on rings, necklaces or earrings. These are great Mother's Day gifts too, you can make a nest with the same number of eggs as she has children. Have fun! Never feel bad about telling us how or where to get the best deals. Those tips have saved us all money. Isn't that why you are thefrugalcrafter? Love those tips!
Hi Lindsay. I just wanted to write to let you know that I passed this video on to my husband, (I'm the papercrafter and he's the jewelry maker). He watched your video several times and handed me a beautiful pair of earrings with purple beads and silver wire. They were gorgeous. I told him I want them in every color bead/pearl he has in his stash. Thanks Lindsay for your wonderful tutorials. Keep them coming. Linda and Steve.
aww, what a sweet hubby:)
I just got a request from a relative to make some of these - so happy to see you have a tutorial for them!
I love the small birds nest earrings. I am going to buy the parts and go back on
to watch again. Thanks also for the purchased ideas.
That's so cute! I've made and sold a few things (before Covid) but most of what I sold was because I wore it out where people could see it. There's a dual purpose for wearing your own jewelry... Quality Testing and Advertising. 😊 Thanks for sharing and for supporting our troops... Girl Scout Troops, that is! 😁
Hey Lindsey. It's 1:30 am and I can't sleep. Made a nest and came out pretty decent. Thanks much!
I have to say watching your videos make me smile & you got some fabulous ideas!!!
Yet another beautiful creation didn't realize that was so easy thank you for sharing with us /Dee in Texas
Thanks...great idea for beads left over from larger projects...LOVE Thin Mints and coffee too!
Loved the tutorial. Will be having a go myself.many thanks for the ideas.
Your video was fantastic. I can't wait to try it myself. I have been wandering how to do it and then I found you. I will keep you on my radar for future projects.
Thank you Miss thefrugalcrafter
Super! Thank you very much! I'm a an absolute beginner. My first wire earrings with pearls were these ones:-) I also made a matching pendant. Can't believe I just made them myself! LOL Good luck to you!
Perfect for this time of Year! 2019 March!!! Love these, can't wait to make them!!!
Cute! I have like eight million bird & bird cage stamps. These would look great in place of charms on a project. I don't really wear jewelery, even the expensive stuff I have. I KNOW I helped out the girl scouts this year. Those new mango cookies were pretty yummy, but Thin Mints are always the best. JIL
Lots of great information!! I'm just beginning and the hints you gave are very helpful.
You are welcome, I felt badly that I spent 3 minutes gabbing about tools and wire, I'm glad it was helpful:)
You make them so neatly..love it!
Thanks for the video! I have never made jewelry before, but am giving it a go for Christmas presents this year. Can't wait to get started! I already purchased 24 gauge wire for my pendants, so I hope they turn out okay. =)

Lindsay love all your tutorials I wish you would make some more jewelry tutorials every now and then how about some more soldering jewelry tutorials but anything is fine wire tutorials I love that bracelet you made with the soldering around the sea glass I think it was that was your what not to do with soldering I guess LOL
Oh ! That's a idea to use up all that spare funky wire I have! I'd love to send you a picture when it's done!
That looks so easy. TFS
yes, just add a cord or ribbon! You can make a loop with the wire as you work or add a jump ring at the end.
i enjoyed this tutorial very much. It was simple, quick and easy to follow. ^_^
I realy enjoyed this. my creative brain went in to overdrive. thank you.
Thank you for this tutorial, it's great.
These are so cute!! TFS!!
Great tutorial!
Beautiful!
Hi Pauline. OK here is the scoop, all you need to do is go online and search the name of the store and the word coupon because they all can be printed. Sales run Sunday-Saturday so you might be able to print some before you leave. Usually you can use a coupon each day so you might want to print a few of each and some store take coupons from other stores. Joann will let you use multiple coupons as long as the numbers are different. Joann, Micheals, ACMoore always have 40% off coupons going!
Awesome video! I have been wanting to make these for a while now, thank you so much for posting! Happy Beading :)
It's up to you but 20-24 gauge wires work very well:) I'd probably go with 24-26 gauge for earrings and a 20 gauge for the pendant and you can make it bigger by adding more wraps as desired:)
Fun ! I have a bunch of this wire too I need to use up . TFS :)
Great ideal beautiful work good luck on your craft sale.
I just watched this video and thought you were hilarious. You have great personality! Now I wanna subscribe to you.

love your videos ive just found you and im addicted already..I am in Australia and am coming to USA for the first time and I would love to know where do you get your coupons from for like Michaels , hobby lobby , I see ppl with their wonderful hauls and you all say you used your coupons ...........love the nests so cute Pauline x
beautiful!
Rolltideroll thanks:)
I started making earrings a while ago. I have to say, the only thing to consider is the weight of the nest to what you are making because sometime they can get heavy.
this is adorable
going to make for my sis
what size wire would you use for a pendant/ necklace? id love a necklace like this.
May I know how mm thick the wire that you use for? Thanks
Thanks!
Adorable
Sooo cute
After watching this I went right home and made me a pair of earrings.
Lindsey where did you say you got that big spool wire you're working with I don't have a Jo-Ann's or Michael's around here just a Hobby Lobby and they have very few beading stuff :-(
SO CUTE. i HAVE TO HAVE ONEE!
they are fun to make!
loved the video!! i hv some undrilled pearls,hw can i use them in making such jewellery?pls help!!
Mithlesh Anklesaria you will have to glue them. Some glues will leave a hazy film on pearls, ask a jewelry shop what they recommend
thanx a lot for ur reply!! :)
We don't have a Joanne's here we almost don't have any where to buy things. Have to order online to get any thing.
Could you use like a clear varnish to help stop the tarnishing of the wire?
Debbie G that is a good idea! I bet you can. Clear Nail polish would be good because it is safe for the skin and does not contain water that make case rust.
Well, get cracking girl! They are quick and easy!
Love Love LOVE it!!! Also enjoyed the upbeat personality of the tutorial. There's nothing worse than a tutorial hosted by someone that has no personality and monotone narration.
Hola muy lindos..yo quiero ah serlos talbes los pueda acer...gracias..👍
Hi, can you tell me the most important tool for a beginner jewelry maker and the brand of you tools, Thank You.
3 in one pliers, it has small round nose pliers and a wire cutter and a flat area to smoosh wire flat. They are not expensive, under $10 and I think mine is beadalon brand:)
Thank You.
well, thank you ma'am:)
Nickle is also magnetic, so the unknown wire from JoAnn's might not be steel.
can you make them into necklaces?
So pretty. Where did you get the copper wire?
+Nita T joann frabrics
+thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich Cool. I can't wait to get those!
+thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich went to Joanns two days ago and bought some beads and silver wire. I was lucky they're 50% off :D
Why don`t you order from Fire Mountain Gems or one of the other wholesale catalogs or websites?
Ginny Peluso I have ordered from them, wire is more expensive at FMC as are findings, I got a crazy deal on the glass pears too at Micheals 40 cents a strand!
belli😉
You're funny!
copper wire is expensive? What are you smoking?
I just go to Lowes or Home Depot to get copper wire, it is a whole lot cheaper than any other place.
really, they did not have it when I went, thanks for the tip, I will look next time I go:)
thefrugalcrafter . it is in the electrical department or even at a hardware store , you can get electrical wire for just a few cents a foot or even by the yard. I get the wire then take it home and strip it (the plastic coating ) . I have gotten it with more than just one wire in it -- you can find it thick or thin -from just one piece of wire in the wrapping to 3 is the highest I have gone. With a pair of wire strippers it won't take you no time. Most of the time you find some that is off the wheel and they will have it marked down....Good luck and I hope this has helped.
wesleyktb thanks!
