It's not "tea." By definition, a tea must contain tea leaves in order to be actual tea. They made garlic broth, not tea. Like "chamomile tea" and "peppermint tea" aren't actual teas unless they also have tea leaves in it, which most don't.

So the yak butter tea is definitely an acquired taste but it tastes delicious when made fresh. The tea is strong but then diluted with a bit of milk, salt and a lot of yak butter, then blended for a quite sometime until frothy. My grandma told me that the people in the Himalayas did not have easy access to sugar (very expensive!) as they couldn't grow sugarcane in the dry, arid climate but rock salt was easily available so that became the flavoring instead. The climate is quite cold and dry so the high fat content of the yak butter served to keep the body warm and also moisturize lips so they wouldn't get so chapped. The powdered tea that Ollie got here is passable but nothing beats the real stuff. My family usually puts a fistful of puffed rice into a cup of yak butter tea as a snack too.
@@graceshepherd4418 you should! Just a tip, I use tea leaves and not tea bags. How I make it is- I'll grate ginger and crush cardamom. Put them in a vessel and boil it in a little bit of water for 2 minutes, add tea leaves after that and continue to boil for another minute, then I'll add milk sugar and a little cocoa powder and let it simmer for 5-10 minutes. It's really good 😊

When Ollie explained about chocolate tea, I could imagine the taste lol pour water in cup after finishing hot chocolate lol...
So the yak butter tea is definitely an acquired taste but it tastes delicious when made fresh. The tea is strong but then diluted with a bit of milk, salt and a lot of yak butter, then blended for a quite sometime until frothy. My grandma told me that the people in the Himalayas did not have easy access to sugar (very expensive!) as they couldn't grow sugarcane in the dry, arid climate but rock salt was easily available so that became the flavoring instead. The climate is quite cold and dry so the high fat content of the yak butter served to keep the body warm and also moisturize lips so they wouldn't get so chapped. The powdered tea that Ollie got here is passable but nothing beats the real stuff. My family usually puts a fistful of puffed rice into a cup of yak butter tea as a snack too.

I can verify as a regular tea drinker, that adding a little cocoa to your tea is delicious!

@@graceshepherd4418 you should! Just a tip, I use tea leaves and not tea bags. How I make it is- I'll grate ginger and crush cardamom. Put them in a vessel and boil it in a little bit of water for 2 minutes, add tea leaves after that and continue to boil for another minute, then I'll add milk sugar and a little cocoa powder and let it simmer for 5-10 minutes. It's really good 😊

donghyun sunwoo 어떤 다큐멘터리에서 한 실험을 했었습니다. 아이들에게 수학문제를 풀게 하고 A그룹 아이들에게는 '너 똑똑하다'와 같은 "타고난 능력에 대한 칭찬"을, B그룹 아이들에게는 "노력한 과정"에 대한 칭찬"을했습니다.
타고난 능력에 대한 칭찬을 받은 아이는 처음에는 자신감이 올라가지만 결국 "다음에 내가 문제를 못풀면 어쩌지, 그러면 나보고 똑똑하다고 했던 사람들이 내가 머리가 나쁘다고 생각할텐데.." 라는 생각을 하면서 오히려 자존감은 낮아지고, 조금만 어려운 문제가 나와도 스트레스 받으면서 쉽게 포기하는 모습을 보입니다. 반면에 B그룹 아이들은 어려운 문제가 나와도 더 도전하고 문제를 푸는 데 실패해도 '나는 머리가 나쁜가 봐' 라고 다른 새로운 방법으로 시도해 보려고 하죠.
외모에 대한 부분도 이와 일맥상통한다고 봅니다. A 그룹의 아이들이 칭찬을 들으면서 무의식중에 '나는 똑똑해서 인정받는다, 그렇지 않으면 인정받지 못할 것이다' 라는 관념을 깔고 이 사실이 부정당할까 봐 불안해 했던 것처럼, 외모에 대한 칭찬이 '나는 항상 예뻐서 칭찬받고 인정받는다, 그렇지 않으면 인정받지 못한다' 라는 잘못된 관념을 형성할 수 잇습니다. 예를들어 어떤 사람이 항상 예쁘고 날씬하다 칭찬을 듣고 살았는데 어느 순간엔가 살이 너무 쪄버렸을때, 충분히 일어날 수 있는 일이잖아요? 그러면 이 사람은 자신이 더 이상 예쁘지 않다고 생각하고, 자존감은 끝도 없이 하락하겠죠. 폭식증이 올 정도로 스트레스 받는 사람도 바로 제 주변에 있어요
정 칭찬을 하고 싶으면 처음부터 외모가 아니라 '너는 너의 분위기에 맞게 옷을 잘 입는다' 라는 식의 칭찬을 듣고 외모에 대한 칭찬을 듣지 않았으면 어땟을까요? 살이 찌면 찐대로, 빠지만 빠진대로 자신을 사랑하고 타인의 시선과 인정보다는 자기 자신에게 더 집중하지 않았을까요? 칭찬을 받는 당사자 뿐만 아니라 옆에서 듣는 사람도 마찬가지입니다. 다른 사람의 외모 칭찬을 들음으로써 그 사람과 나의 외모를 비교하게 되고, 그래서 내 외모가 어디가 부족한지 생각하게 되고 자존잠은 더 떨어지고 악순환의 연속이겠죠
사실 기본적으로 외모는 다 다른것 뿐이라고 생각합니다
각자의 개성이 있을 뿐 뭐가 더 좋다 이런건 다 사회가 만들어낸 틀일 뿐이니까요 그런데 이것에 대해 칭찬한다는 것 차체가 역설적입니다
각자의 개성이니까 모든 사람을 다 칭찬하면 모를까 사회적으로 만들어진 "프레임" 에 맞게 예쁜 사람만 칭찬하잖아요?
외모지상주의가 만연한 사회, 외모가 경쟁력인 사회는 지나가야 합니다. 그러기 위해 우리가 할 수 있는 것 중에 하나가 외모 칭찬 자제하기 라고 생각합니다. 칭찬을 받는 사람에게도, 듣는 사람에게도, 사회 전체에도 그다지 좋은 영향을 끼치지 않으니까 자제하는것이 어떨까요?

자켄 나름 타당한 말씀입니다만 좀 너무 가신게 아닌가 하는 생각도 듭니다. 일단 출연진이 예로드신 자아가 완벽히 형성되지 않은 아이들도 아니거니와, 지나친 넘겨짚기가 아닌가 싶네요. 우리가 칭찬받은 사람이 훨씬 후에 어떻게 행동할지 예측하기 힘들뿐만 아니라 실제로 그사람이 그런 칭찬을 좋아하고 즐기는 타입일수도 있구요.
말씀하신내용은 그냥 일반적인 도덕적 관점에서 읽어보면 타당하신 말씀입니다만 지나치게 도덕적으로 경직된 느낌이네요. 영국남자채널이 공영방송도 아니고 최소한의 유투브 가이드라인안에서 자신등이 만드는 콘텐츠로 수익내는 채널인데, 콘텐츠 내용도 아니고 소비자(시청자) 가 자유롭게 피드백하는 것을 누가 왈가왈부할 권리는 없다고 봅니다. 사회과학 연구하는 학자가 이런추세가 있더라 하고 연구를 한다면 모를까요.
틀린말은 아닙니다만.. 저는 상대적으로 어깨가 넓지않고 얼굴이 작지않은 사람을 비교하며 비난한것도 아닙니다.. 그렇다면 엄마 손 잡고 걸어가는 유치원생 아이들에게 이쁘다 하는것과 원빈씨 강동원씨 등을 보며 잘생겼다 하는것조차 외모지상주의라고 문제가 되고 비난받아 마땅한건지요...
