So I haven’t played in years but shin was my main and one of my highlights I failed to get on camera was a 2 v 1, that turned into a then 3 v 1, then 4 v 1, then 2 v 1, then 3 v 1, then a friend showed up and waited till I told him to jump in at a 2 v 1, then I died before the last two guys, and all in a single part of a dominion round. During the fight at the first 3 v 1 I landed a triple deflection. So yes, you can (before the re-work at least) deflect an unlocked target if you’re locked onto another target, same as a parry. But there’s really no way to control that, I just deflected an unlocked guy on the right (a favorite tactic of mine) and the other two attacked at just the right few milliseconds. Not really a show of skill, just a once in a blue moon occurrence that scared the shit out of all three and let me capitalize by being even more aggressive. That being said, getting good at deflecting is hard, but has huge payouts and if you defect an unlocked opponent in a 2 v 1, it makes your opponents hesitate and try to be more cautious of each attack which can save a match if you can capitalize on it appropriately.
Bear in mind that fight happened back in 2018ish, meaning the shin hadn’t been reworked yet. Honestly though, just remembering that fight has me wanting to get back into for honor so damn bad!

It’s hard to tell because he switches his locks so fast, but I’m pretty sure I saw at least two. Hell, make a running series of recordings showing your progress with shin from as early on as you can! I personally would love to see the progression, even if you are complete crap at first. Just the idea of someone new getting into the shin has me literally itching to see how things go~~~
