I love ABZU for how chill (and beautiful) it is.
Skyrim can be really chill too, when you’re just exploring the forest or mountains and that ethereal music starts playing.
Sitting on the edge of a cliff in Skyrim VR at night while the Northern Lights do their thing is seriously one of the most chill experiences i've ever had in a game
Love this kind of content Jones. More like this please! Shoutout to whoever edited this too. Seems like an Ian joint.
Jones edits these as well. -Bloodworth
For those who missed it Abzu is part of PlayStation "Play at home" program and is currently free to download on PS4/5 until april the 23rd.
too bad march 31st was 7 days ago 🥲
@@johnm9749 my bad, it's april 23rd sorry
As an avid scuba diver, this has been my favorite game that takes place under water. Good pick
Have you played Subnautica?
Play beyond blue
I recommend you give Subnautica a try too.
You'll love it and its free on PlayStation with the "Play at home" innitiative
@@shrimpcoke i have not!
Wonderful Jones! I often find myself after watching a movie or anime, just watching the screen saver on my TV when it selects the aquatic life series. Even though I know they're not real fish it's still so peaceful and calming to watch. Thanks and I look forward to the next one!
i honestly kinda want this to be a long-running series rather than just a few episodes like what was planned. though i guess the short runtime of it is kind of fitting with the subject matter lol
i've really enjoyed every one of these so far, it's one of the best series in video game journalism ever imo. and i'm surprised it hasn't been done sooner
This was a beautiful episode. I still have Abzu in my backlog; generally not too keen on underwater games but after seeing this, I may as well give it a try. For me, No Man's Sky, despite its myriad UI elements delivers a similar feel. Endless worlds to explore and all at my pace.
Got this game for free on the PS5. I'm gonna play it after I finish Ratchet and Clank
Abzu is so underrated. How did people look this over after journey? I could barely convince people when it first came out
I first played Abzu and kinda ruined experiencing Journey afterwards.
This is a really good series you have here, Jones. Keep it up!
This is such a lovely idea for a series! Keep it up! 💙
This was game of the generation for me. No contest. Even got my first tattoo a few months ago that was inspired by this game.
I'm terrified of deep sea stuff but Abzu is just a wonderfully tranquil experience.
This series has been great so far, thanks for doing it Jones!
I recommend this game to everyone.
It's great to hear you mention this wonderful gem. Beautiful game, beautiful video.
Jones, you're the best!
Amazing!
Wow. That is one truly magical Atlantean game. Will definitely dive deep into that one when I've something I can experience it on. Thanks a ton for the vid on it, Brandon and Allies! So good to get to have this moment of calm every week, and look into another upmost mindful game. Such a pleasure I for one surely cherish.
best episode yet Jones. Still have to play Abzu. Always wanted to just never got around to it. Curse that backlog!
It's funny, I played Journey a bunch of times and loved it. I played through this once with high expectations but found it didn't leave me with the same sense of awe and wonder. Maybe it deserves a replay?
Gorgeous game and perfect for this series. Thank you for sharing!
Best one yet - thanks Jonesy
I felt soothed and peaceful just from this review. I could probably use it as ASMR. Thanks so much.
Journey, Flow, Unfinished Swan, and Flower are on the way also, right?
Journey is the obvious choice, but I swear nothing beats Flower in terms of idyllic mindfulness. I play through that game almost every spring. It is, without hyperbole, magical. I hate that people tend to forget about Flower.
Just played it with the ps plus and its a must. Such great experience, similar to journey's. And the soindtrack its amazing!!!! Cant be more mindful that this game. It even has meditation spots!!!!
Love these videos :)
Mindful Games! Esta sección está maravillosa
Yeah this is a good ass game
I know this may be unreasonable but that blue whale freaks me out
Maybe you have megalophobia, fear of really large things or things that are larger than they usually are/are supposed to be: like a giant anchor or a statue of a person on a horse thats bigger than it would've been in reality.
Not making any suggestions but for brave souls, this game and mind altering substances is a match made in heaven. Better than Alice in Wonderland if you catch my drift...
Wonder when the day will be where we play this game to remember what the ocean used to look like
💀
I'm going to keep this one for bedtime, nice one BJ.
I recently got this one running like greased butter at native 4K with RTSS's scanline sync after years of stuttering from the in-game and nvidia control panel v-sync.
Its a testament to how good it is that this became one of my favourite games ever when I played it even though the fishballs (some of the most amazing parts imo) were a stutterfest and stuttering is something I can rarely ignore.
Of course The Pathless (The PS5 version, PC is probably fine) from the same devs has a stutter in 30fps mode, but again I can put up with it for how ace the game is and its not an actual frame drop so its hard to perceive when you are moving at speed, the fact that you don't move the camera much in those chase scenes helps I'm sure. I've asked the devs if they plan to fix it but I'm sure everyone is just playing in 60fps mode anyway. I just couldn't because the minimalist art style loses all its microdetail (There is barely any to begin) in the performance mode.
Anyway, sorry to BJ if you reading this stutter-rambling lol Blood probably learned long ago to skim my comments haha.
Just know that I REALLY appreciate these videoes and I think its one of th best things EZA has done, so you can put that in your ego-pipe and smoke it Jones, amazing work!
This game looks amazing. I beat it yesterday
Outer Wilds pls
Love Mindful Games! But sorry Jones, I'm skipping this one. Still haven't played it and it seems like Abzu is a game where visual spoilers matter.
Abzu is great but didn't live up to Journey
I am sitting here recovering from my 2nd dose of the Pfizer vaccine, and this series is the perfect antidote to the fever pains. Thank you SO SO much Jones for putting this series together. I feel it is truly essential. Hats off to you!
Please do Just Cause 3 next the flying and atmosphere in that game is top notch so is the Relaxation!!!
